Assuming laws in Monster World are similar to ours, what was Watermoose's fate? He has conspired to kidnap a human child, which at the time the monsters considered to be a cross between stealing a tank and opening a test tube with smallpox virus. He ordered an underling to murder Sully at least, and banished (on his own authority) two monsters at least into an environment which at best would have risked their lives. He probably did other things I have not thought of too.

Simpson was accused of brutally murdering his ex-wife and her friend, and there were eye-witness accounts that placed him at the murder scene, yet what happened to HIM? My point is, if you're rich, laws do not always apply to you as they do to ordinary people. Waternoose was very rich, and very influential. He came from a long family line of rich and famous, like the Hiltons or the Hearsts in our world. He can afford the biggest, baddest legal "dream team" his world has to offer. He can pay to manipulate judges and juries. He's also elderly, and that can and often does influence a court's decision. On top of that, that video tape that Mike and Sulley made comes really, really close to constituting what's known as "Entrapment", which means it could very well be thrown out as inadmissable as evidence, and cannot be shown to jurors at all! If that's the case, there is a good chance, like many rich and famous defendents in our world, that Waternoose could eventually walk away a free monster, cleared of all charges. At the worst, due to his age and his financial influence, he'd probably get a prison sentence in a medium-security facility, where he'd have three square meals per day, access to medical help, a bed, a roof over his head, tv, a gym, clean clothes, and visits from his friends, family and attorneys, all for masterminding that whole plot with the Scream Extractor(and who knows what else). Compare that to what Randall received in the movie, and tell me if you see something wrong with THAT picture! pitbulllady |

Exactly. Michael Jackson just paid off the people who were accusing him of things, and Waternoose would probably do the same. If Mike and Sulley hadn't banished Randall, and had instead handed him over to the CDA, even considering what had happened, Randall STILL would've got a worse sentance than Waternoose, simply because he doesn't have as much money.

Waternoose WOULD probably get away from the courts, or at least a harsh punishment.....however....his...."affiliates" would probably have a "stab" at whether he was still useful.

Happens all the time with local and regional law enforcement, you know. It should not have been too hard to find an agent willing to keep quiet about it, with enough cash incentives. pitbulllady |

Waternoose actually knew it from the beginning....
Actually he WOULD NOT be able to use that as leverage considering Laugh Energy requires more interaction with the children.
The Toxic Card is gone, so it WON'T help Waternoose this time.

Actually, the "Toxic Card" probably ISN'T gone, and we've discussed this very thing before. Monsters have believed, no doubt for thousands of years, and countless generations, that human children are toxic. You cannot change or dispel such long-held, widely-believed assumptions, that are deeply-ingrained in the public's collective psyche, overnight. A good example would be the perception of reptiles in OUR world; MOST people STILL believe that all snakes are in some way either dangerous, or "gross", or harmful to us in some way, in spite of the internet, books, numerous(and popular)tv shows, and the hard life's work of people like the late Steve Irwin. It is very, very difficult, if not impossible, to totally convince everyone, or even a majority, that the things they've been told since childhood, by people they trusted(like grandparents), are simply false. They will shut their ears, eyes and minds to anything to the contrary. SULLEY and Mike might know, and accept, that human children are not toxic, but to convince the Monster World as a whole, or the legal/legistlative system of just their little corner of that world, is going to take a LOT more than six years! Sulley probably won't even live to see the day when it's widely accepted that human children are not toxic, anymore than I will live to see the day when the majority of people in just the USA will accept that most snakes and spiders cannot hurt them, and I've been working at changing those attitudes far, far longer than James P. Sullivan has known that human children aren't toxic!

Well actually, that's only assuming that their society is Ultra Conservative. I could easily cite examples of DRASTIC changes that took place in the US and some of the people who initiated them LIVED to see them.

In terms of the toxic thing. It can be said that after a year, public view on human toxicitity (word?) could drastically have changed. Some "believers" would most likely exist.
Besides, HOW would ANYONE trust Wazowski and Sullivan for public appearences and such if they had a day's worth of human toxics on them ^_^
