I'm not sure if the red things on the cupcakes are hearts...can't see them well enough to tell from that angle, so they could be something else. I do get the impression that Randall baked 'em, though, nothing wrong with that, since my dad was always the cook in the family around here.
Anyone notice the lamps on Mike's desk? Looks like he stole those from Megamind, lol, with the spikes and all.
Remember that pencil pic I did WAAAAAY back, to answer the question as to how Randall would sit in a chair? I was right! His front pair of legs dangle over the edge of the chair like a human's, but the rear pair is pulled up next to his body more like a dog's when it's sitting. Love his face there, with that "WTF" look of disapproval at Sulley being an a$$, while the lower hands show so much uncertainty. Randall clearly has no idea how to deal with people being jerks. He seems to want to get riled and give the walking fur rug a piece of his mind, but at the same time he seems a bit intimidated, too.

Little late to the party, but yeah, I definitely get the impression that Mike and Randall were buds at some point, or at least, that they were on friendly terms. Sulley somehow managed to drive a wedge between them, which is sad. It's too bad that Sulley was such a jerk, that by the time he grows a brain and patches things up with Mike, Randall gets left out of the game completely.
Jees, but Randall's colors are gorgeous here, so vibrant! You realize that in the original movie, as an adult, his colors are actually dull by comparison, and not only that, but he is missing all those scars that we've discussed and debated(which some people claim aren't there). It goes to show just what hell he must have been going through, poor guy. And those cupcakes... a guy who can COOK! Man, oh, man, what I would not give to be able to land THAT catch!

I'm torn as to whether I can imagine him in a frat or not. On the one hand, like you said PBL, he might just not fit into any of those groups and sees them for what they are- exaggerated social cliques that do nothing but increase a sense of rivalry between students (and if he feels that he won't fit into any of them, he wouldn't experience the main benefit of being part of a frat- that feeling of inclusion). On the other hand, I think we can all agree Randall has a naive side to him, and especially considering how young he looked in that poster we saw with him wearing his glasses, I wouldn't be surprised if he realised that being part of a fraternity was a way of trying to fit in, and so joined one just to feel included. There's an aspect of his personality that is easily swayed, for sure. He's not quite a sheep or anything, but understandably sometimes he does want to go with the crowd, and this is probably the case even more so when he was a youngster. Well, hopefully we might find out something tomorrow- the first official trailer for MU is rumoured to be released in the next 24 hours or so. Fingers crossed we'll be seeing the first footage of Randall in his younger days! It does make sense that if Randall DID try to join a frat, it would be in order to fit in and feel accepted, and indeed, as we have discussed here often, being accepted and respected and fitting in appears to be at the bottom of Randall's involvement with the Scream Extractor in the first place. He saw it as a means of being finally accepted, so I would not be surprised if, in the university days, he really was an outcast who was excluded by "all of the other reindeer", as TvTropes would call them. If Sulley eventually experiences success at Randall's expense, that would explain how the rivalry began. Looking at that college-age pic, it's easy to see how most of the students would simply see Randall as a nerd, someone to be made fun of, not someone that most would want in their "cliques", and if he already came from a lonely background, it would really establish a lifelong psychological/emotional desperation to be accepted by his peers, and failing to be able to achieve this would certainly create a serious and growing instability that would lead up to him taking the chance with that machine. pitbulllady

I can only recall the major details...but I believe Hardscrabble is female. Anybody guess she has something WORSE than a ruler under the deans desk? Well Sullivan and Wazowski had their full names mentioned if I recall, but since they're the main characters that's acceptably obvious. Ten years later...kind of a stretch-reference to me...but oh well, that's thinking in human terms rather than monster terms. Ah yes Charlie, now I remember...thank you for that. The pink's not so confusing (Pink as emPOWERing?)...as is the similiar features of the sorority group. Archie, yes...apparently that big, if I recall, is not only able to sustain the weight of Wazowski, but also Sullivan. Then again Sullivan could be getting his own bike, which he IS able to pull off... ===== Oh thing I thought about after taking my mind off it...is interesting. LG, you remember the poster bits? Sullivan and Wazowski on one, Randall and the ROR leader on the other? Well, some people have thought that they represented "good guys" and "bad guys" fraternities...which of course is rather close minded.... BUT...when I thought about it later...Randall was NOT in the group of the ROR fraternity. NOT in the initial sketch work NOR in the Scare Games render shots. We see GEORGE, however, returning, and IS in there. So what this seems to show is that Randall is NOT in a fraternity. That he, indeed, is new on the University scene as Sullivan and Wazowski is. AND that he is NOT with the jockish fraternity, by extension, who seem to be the antagonistic group (as per Nerds). So this is a good sign. Also, didn't seem him in the "swear-in" either for the "nerd fraternity", so maybe while we may not see him at the start, Randall may come in as a sort of wild card later. A small thing is that the little that have been shown of Randall seems to be a tease. There in fact may be more they'll show in relation to him than simply a "returning" person. I wondered how Randall figures into all this frat stuff, too. I know that stereotyping someone because of their looks(and Lord knows the poor guy has had to deal with enough of THAT)isn't right, but honestly, looking at young Randall in that banner pic, I can't see him as a frat guy, period. Not everyone who goes to a college or university joins a fraternity or sorority. I never did, never felt any desire to do so, since they came across to me as nothing more than glorified drinking clubs. Randall seems more of that "wild card" type you mentioned, someone who doesn't fit in with any of the fraternities, too smart to fit in with either the nerds or the jocks. It's possible that he might not even be a student, given how young he looks. Hopefully within the near future, before the movie is released, we'll get some more official information rather than just speculation, that will clear up some of the mystery, at least. pitbulllady

I can't tell if Dean Hardscrabble is a guy or a gal, but he/she/it reminds me of the Grand Councilwoman in "Lilo and Stitch"-tall, no-nonsense, got that "I-am-not-amused" look all the time. I DO find it interesting that Scanlon specifically mentioned Randall, and by his first AND last name at that, out of all the other returning characters. While it's not much to go on insofar as how Randall will be portrayed, it does seem to indicate that the director is well aware of Randall's loyal fanbase and his popularity in general.
That "Save The Slime" thing is a nod to the Greenpeace "Save the Whales" campaign of the '80's, when they were always protesting something, somewhere. George's Scare Assistant in the original movie was named "Charlie", aka "Charlie the Snitch". As far the pink girls, I'd guess it's a sorority thing, with pink make-up for those who aren't naturally that color, as I know of at least one sorority whose color is pink, and even long-graduated former members are still obsessive over that color, lol.
And that "Scare Pig", or whatever it is, is so freakishly cute that HSUS is probably already working to pass legislation to ban them before they catch on in popularity.

I'm afraid to ask what your "head-shot" count was on those tests given that 95% 0_0 Actually, none. Shooting proficiency tests grade you on the number of shots placed in the center of the chest, where the heart and aorta are located. Yeah, I know that more and more criminals are using body armor these days, but leave their heads unprotected, but that's how the tests are still scored. I had three shots placed in the upper left shoulder, which still would have taken out a brachial artery, and one in the lower abdomen, but the rest were clustered right where they were supposed to have been and none missed the target. The gun itself is not even recommended for shooting from the range at which our last rounds had to be fired, 20 yards, and a lot of shooters online complain about its lack of accuracy, but I didn't find that to be a problem. My .38 has much better front sights on it, with a bright orange dot to sight from, but even range(practice) ammo for that caliber is pretty steep in price, so the .22 is still the cheapest to shoot. I'm just not wanting to depend on a .22 in a life or death situation that I plan on walking away from. pitbulllady

Due to escalating crime and home invasions in our area, many of them targeting women, I made the decision awhile back to apply for a Concealed Weapons Permit(CWP). In South Carolina, it is legal for permit holders to carry concealed handguns on their person and inside their vehicle in many non-government locations for personal protection and defense of others, and 17 other states have the same law, meaning that a SC permit is valid in those states, too. To get a permit, you have to pass a criminal background check and certify that you are not mentally ill, take and pass a rigorous 8-hour training class with an instructor certified by both the State Law Enforcement Division(SLED) and the NRA(who actually have tougher standards than the state), which includes a written test, and then pass a handgun shooting skills test on a shooting range. I took my training and tests yesterday, under the instruction of none other than Col. James E. Braddock, the real-life hero of the Missing In Action movie series, in which he was portrayed by Chuck Norris. He's a great guy, very funny and entertaining as well as informative. I passed both the written and shooting skills test with perfect scores of 100, and 95% of my shot groups were "kill shots", in spite of this being the first time I'd used particular handgun, a little Taurus PT22 semi-automatic(cheap to shoot, IF you can still find high-quality .22 Long Rifle ammo, that is). I'm used to shooting long guns, shotguns and rifles, but handguns are still fairly new to me and they are a whole different ballgame to aim, handle and maintain. I had a ball, though, out at the shooting range-great way to let off stress! I plan on taking a women's firearms and self-defense class he's going to teach next month, as well, which he's actually offering through the school district free of charge. Oh, here's my little tack-driver: Yeah, it's purple with scales...how could I NOT buy this? It's definitely no toy, though. I also have a Taurus M85 series .38 Special revolver that will probably be my main concealed-carry self-defense weapon once I receive my permit from SLED. pitbulllady

Well the phone call Wazowski got about the commercial was from Sullivan's mom... There was Sullivan's excuse for Boo toward Waternoose but that was "my cousin's sister's daughter" for the "bring an obscure relative to work day" scheme, but that itself may have just been a lie within a lie. I was trying to recall if the phone call was from Sulley's mom or sister, though I thought at some point Wazowski did mention a sister. I know that the "cousin's sister's daughter" thing was Mike's creation and Sulley just kinda went along with it. If anyone had taken time to think, they'd have realized that Sulley's cousin's sister would have also been his cousin, so it was rather pointless to mention that other cousin in the first place, but then, this IS Wazowski-Speak, after all! pitbulllady

They shouldn't. It would be...irresponsible. And besides...well, Randall we know...but it's not exactly a happy ending for everybody either. I've made ideas, written some things on my own proposed sequel and...things aren't all cheery for everyone else either. We ALL know Sullivan does NOT have the training to be CEO of a large company...so there is NO way he can fit going from blue-to-white collar in less than a year (wasn't it?). So, he's dealing with that. Now, Wazowski and Celia would have to step up their relationship, so does this mean Wazowski moving out? And how does that go for lonely Sullivan? As said, I've thought on this...and Pixar, if you want to do it right, come talk to me hehehehe. I have to imagine Sullivan had a hand in things, even if he hadn't WANTED to OR if he changed his mind at the last minute and TRIED to stop something from happening. I've noted before about college hazing and the stuff for fraternities and how wanting to be accepted into a group would probably have been one of Randall's vunerabilities at that age. Needless to say, people would take advantage of that. I imagine Sullivan's a single child who came from a good-to-do family. Father a scarer, mother probably a stay-at-home mom. His over-attitude as he is older is mainly due to......well...in my way it's due to his father who has a...."particular" job position within the scream industry... As for the DVD RELEASE of the film....there is a possibility of Randall getting some extras in. I mean depends on how much he gets...BUT...seeing as he would likely have a more positive-looking role than he did previously, he'd get a lot more. Didn't Mike mention Sulley having a sister in the original, though? Still, sister or not, if he came from one of those families who put sports over EVERYTHING, the jock son is going to be the star, regardless of how many siblings there are. I know many families like that. pitbulllady

I've actually written a bit in the Fanfiction section, if anybodys even seen it, about a probable beginning to MU.... In short, flashbacking mainly depends on how much there would be prequel-wise to what is current. By that, if they SHOW this past glimpse in the film, is there enough there to MAKE a full-on film? My answer is...yes, I believe there is. So doubt there will be multiple flashbacks. If there is, it would start at near the beginning (there may be small cuts to the "present", but it sets up the next flashbacks through a device (mine was a box of Sullivan's old stuff from the University) so not much happens at the present). As for a mini-movie...unfortunately doubt that. THOUGH...Mater DID sorta take Cars 2....and heck he basically got his own series (for...some...reason). So there IS a possibility of that, if Pixar can see his popularity (as...Mater...had?), then there's always the option of that. I don't think Pixar will leave things hanging without a sequel. The prequel can set things up for a resolution later on, making it much deeper and personal (and supposedly, we'll be seeing that sequel sooner than we had for the prequel). I HOPE Pixar won't leave things hanging, not resolving what happened with Randall. That would be especially bad if Sullivan in any way, shape or form had something to do with Randall's attitude taking a negative turn, especially if Randall was actually the victim of any really nasty pranks or bullying from Sullivan at some point. From what I've seen of the prequel, Sulley was a real jerk-ass jockster in his college days, and I recently read something to the effect that he was from a long family line of Scarers, basically having everything handed to him on a proverbial silver platter, and that smug "I don't give a ****" smirk on his face in the trailers and the posters says a lot right there about HIS behavior and attitude, as much as Randall's shy, insecure little smile. If Randall's turn in the wrong direction was due in at least some part to how he was treated by Sulley in college, and Pixar just allows things to end with the way they did in the original, with Sulley tossing Randall into the Human World to be beaten brutally and possibly killed, think about the message THAT is going to be sending! It would basically mean that Sulley didn't like the results of how HE treated someone else(badly), so he simply decided to get rid of the someone else when they finally lashed out. Randall is at least as popular as Mater, if not more so, just with an older fan base, so hopefully Pixar will take that into consideration when they decide what to put on that Collectors Edition DVD. Like I said, a "mini movie", on the order of "Button of Doom" that is available with the Collector's DVD and Blu-Ray with the "Megamind" movie, starring Randall, would be nice. pitbulllady

We've touched on this before, as to why Pixar appears to be planning to depict Randall as a "good guy" in MU, in sharp contrast to how most people perceived him in MI. I can only think of two possible reasons: they will feature "flash backs" in MU, cutting from past to present and vice versa, in which Randall is at least not so much a "villain" in the present, OR they will give him his own mini-movie at some point, perhaps a special feature on the inevitable DVD release, in which we see that he's not so bad. I've read before that IF Pixar ever showed the now-adult Randall as a good guy, or at least different from how he behaved in the original, some fans would have trouble believing that "transformation", so perhaps showing that Randall didn't start out "mean" or "evil" or any of those negative things would help pave the way for showing what WE know to be the REAL Randall later on. If people see that he was not always "bad", it will probably be easier for them to "buy" into him being one of the "good guys" again later on. Did that make any sense?

I've always thought that Randall would make a great "ghost", since he can do that blending/invisibility thing, which makes him a LOT scarier than a monster you can see, imo. My Randall dreams, for the most part, come off like tv commercials or pieces of a movie. I've only had one in which I was actually in the dream, too, and it was really bizarre! I've had two which involved REAL ghosts, although in one, the ghost was never seen directly by the point at which my alarm clock went off; it was just implied that there was a ghost because Randall and the other character, a dark-haired woman with whom he apparently was romantically involved and living with in the Human World, were talking about there being a ghost in an old "fixer upper" house they'd bought in Louisiana. Randall was skeptical and kept insisting that whatever they'd experienced was due to the house "settling" or rats or birds in the attic or whatever, and the woman was more open-minded, and found it ironic that she was arguing with a MONSTER about whether ghosts existed or not, lol. The other, and most-recent, was MU-centric, and had Mike, Sulley, and several college-age monsters I do not know exploring an old "haunted" house near the campus, on a dare, apparently trying to spook each other the way college and high school kids are prone to doing; my friends and I did the same thing back in high school. Anyway, can't recall all of the dialog, but one of the chairs in one of the rooms started to levitate in front of Mike, and Mike's like, "cut it out, RANDALL! We all know it's you!" Right after he says that, Randall and another monster walk through a door leading to another room, with Randall saying, "cut WHAT out, Wazowski?" Mike does a classic double take, looking from Randall to the still-levitating chair, then says something to effect that "we really need to be leaving now", and he and everyone else but Randall rush out of the room through the door. Randall is fascinated by the levitating chair, saying something like, "would you look at that...how is it DOING that" and "geeking out" about geomagnetic anomalies and anti-gravitational vortices and other scientific stuff, and then Sulley runs back in and grabs him by the arm and hauls him out of the room, still protesting about how this needs more engineering research and how it might hold the key to obtaining more Scream energy, and so on. pitbulllady Yeah very true and honestly because Randall could pass as a ghost, I honestly believe he could exist/live in the human world more easily than other monsters who don't have the ability to become invisible/blend in. A lot of monsters who get banished into the human world end up living in pretty much isolation. Randall could actually go around human cities without being noticed and is more likely to be able to get a job working at a haunted house amusement park because although I can see the owner of a haunted house amusement park liking having a real ghost as a tourist draw....I don't think they would hire a monster like Sulley or something. It would be much less likely at least. That's funny about Randall trying to insist to her that it's not a ghost. XD It is really ironic! LOL. That's also funny about the MU-related one. I actually wonder if Randall saw something like that, if he'd wonder if it's another monster with the same/similar ability to him? LOL. I've had a few real-life experiences that I can't explain and I wonder if it was a ghost. I am open-minded to the possibility. I doubt that Randall could just go around blended-in and "invisible" all the time. He has to actually THINK about his background and surroundings and CHANGE his own color and pattern to blend in with them, and that means every time he moves, even a short distance, he has to shift color/pattern. It requires lots more physical energy to do that than you might initially think, lots of caloric intake and lots of mental concentration. He's not going to be able to keep that up indefinitely, plus only his skin has that capability; his eyes, the inside of his mouth, his teeth, etc., can't "blend". He can do that to pull of a scare, since that is a temporary situation, but he can't just stay blended to avoid detection and live among humans "invisibly" for very long at all. And, while he might not be easily seen by US, our pets can sense infrared and ultraviolet light, so Randall would stand out like a sore thumb to them even while blended, not to mention that he'd have an odor that animals would detect. He'd also be visible to anyone using FLIR technology, as well, and if it were chilly and damp out, you'd be able to see the condensation from his breath, so no, he will not be able to live among us and avoid detection by simply staying "invisible". pitbulllady

You know, I never even thought about that, but you're right! I've also read that the Metal band, Mastadon, will provide music for MU, so I wonder if Randall will be in a band, as Lucian Buscemi is bass player for a Metal Band, Fiasco. I think if it's more than a coincidence that Randall looks a bit like Steve's son, that he'll be even more likely to be a good guy.
