Skinner was the rival chef to Linguini in Ratatouille, the short dude who would have inherited Gousteau's Restaurant had not Linguini, who was actually Gousteau's illegitimate son, shown up for employment. Skinner tried to hide the proof that Linguini was Gousteau's son so that the restaurant would have belonged to him.

Okay ... I just don't get why turning invisible to scare never really occured to him. But then again, I always think of him being invisible, esp. in MI. Randall's "turning invisible" was a habit that HE developed out of fear, fear for his own safety, and no doubt had been a major source of ridicule throughout his life. Why would he have thought that a nervous habit that had been a source of ridicule and embarrassment for him would ever be an asset? pitbulllady

Yeah, but how big do you think his role'll be? Well, if my hunch is correct, Randall should have a big role, if not the lead role. He is the only one of the original cast from MI, along with Mike and Sulley, who really had any role at all in MU. Sulley's movie was the first one, Mike's was MU, now who does that leave? pitbulllady

Okay, then why also Johnny and Javier? I can't explain that, lol. Both have proven very popular in both Japan and Hong Kong, though. pitbulllady

I don't really know how the media portrays Utahns, but I guess it'd be what you think ... The media, unfortunately, does no more to accurately portray Utah than it does people in South Carolina. According to the media, we're all ignorant rednecks here, and Utah residents are wild west religious fanatics. Neither is reality, though. Utah is one of the last bastions of freedom in the US. pitbulllady

IF there is a "MI3", then you're probably right in it being the last of at least Sulley, Mike and Randall. It's possible that Pixar might pick up with some other characters, though, and possibly continue with Randall and some aspect of his life. Steve Buscemi is the youngest of the three, still in his 50's, so he'd be more likely to remain for one more installment if any of the three do.

That would be a nice "twist", for Steve to play a "good guy" or "heel-face turn" role for once, and he's mentioned wanting to tone down his movie roles now that he's done more animated voice overs and knows that he's making an impression on kids. I don't think he'd have any objection to a pleasant turn of events for Randall, in any case.

I found five of the cups in early July at a Wal-Mart two hours away from where I live; I literally had to drive that far to find them! Those have been the only examples of the Randall cups I've seen in the Carolinas. I can still find the Mike and Sulley cups, the Art cups and the Perry Bros. cups, but not the one with Randall.

Pretty much all the Randall cups got bought up as soon as they hit they hit the stores, like back in June. Anything Randall related will sell out pretty quick in most places.

One thing we have to remember is that a lot of people, including Randall's co-workers, just assumed that expression WAS his normal expression, so no one would have questioned it upon seeing the commercial. We learned in MU that Randall has that scowl-squint because he can't see very well! pitbulllady He can still smile and have positive body language. A fake smile, one not really "heart-felt", would be worse than a scowl. You can't make someone show "positive body language" when they aren't FEELING positive. Randall nearly always shows that insecure posture, with his arms folded in front of him, whenever he's around a large crowd. This is called a "guarded" posture, and it is an indication of apprehension. We see him do this in both movies. Randall is not really comfortable in social situations, as much as he wants to be liked and accepted. That fear is always there, and he can't help displaying that guarded posture, especially when he has every reason to feel left out and excluded. pitbulllady

If Randall's eyesight was fine, those glasses wouldn't have had such thick lenses. Watch him closely in both movies; he has a LOT of trouble reading and has to hold whatever it is that he's trying to read practically touching his face! He does this with the newspaper in MI and he does it with his own class notes in MU. Randall most likely is very nearsighted, which means he'd be able to see most things fairly well as long as they're close, but would have trouble seeing things that are further away, or printed words. I can see objects fairly clearly myself close-up, but can't read squat without my glasses. I don't have any problem navigating familiar places without my glasses, though. For a nearsighted person, squinting helps to compensate for the eyes not focusing on far-away objects. Note that when he has to run, Randall drops to all-eights, not just because that is faster, but because his face is closer to the ground/floor so he can spot objects that might trip him up. The only reason for Randall ditching his glasses in the first place had nothing to do with whether or not he actually needed them, but with him taking Mike's questionable advice because he trusted Mike that much. Mike told him that the glasses gave away his position while he was "invisible", something Randall had never even thought of using as a Scare technique. While that WAS true, in terms of the glasses giving away his position, I don't think there would be a kid anywhere who would not be completely freaked out by a pair of floating, moving glasses appearing in their room!

What a good idea! I hope they really do just that. PBL, do you think they will? Or that they even will do another Monsters? I do think that there will be another "Monsters" film, though it apparently will be another 6-7 years at least before we see one, though I can't say whether Randall will play a role in it or not, of if he does, what that role might be. I can only HOPE that it's a positive role. pitbulllady

Just a thought what makes the Japanese love him so much? The Japanese seem to have a cultural "thing" for monsters, and reptilian scaly monsters come pretty close to be dragon-like, and dragons, of course, represent positive energy in many Eastern cultures. I don't know why-maybe this is cultural, too-but they seem more accepting of the notion of monsters and other non-human sapient creatures as being people. Of the entire MI/MU universe, Randall, Johnny and Javier seem to be the most popular. pitbulllady
