Yeah...I've had people tell me I'd make a good lawyer, and it's appealing, but I think it's getting lower on my list and the horse thing is getting higher as I learn more about this college... I used to want to be a veterinary surgeon! But then I realized that evil things like math...chemistry...etc...are involved in studying that field...and I was turned away...

I've been thinking about becoming a lawyer, ever since I started taking this three-credit Legal Studies class. Of course, we're only touching on the surface of Canadian law, but I find it absolutely fascinating. I wouldn't want to become a criminal lawyer, though; probably work with wills, tenancy, or marriage law, or something. I'm still thinking about it, though, because I don't want to pick a career in which I'll sit at a desk typing from nine 'till five, bored out of my mind.

"Crimson Permanent Assurance"! XD
....Yes, Monty Python. Anyone here seen their "Meaning of Life"? If you have, you'll get that above line. Hillarious. Absolutely hillarious.

I wouldn't want to become a criminal lawyer, though; probably work with wills, tenancy, or marriage law, or something. A few months ago, at our school we had this career evening, and I spoke to an experianced lawyer. She said that she started out being a criminal lawyer, but even though it was interesting, she didn't enjoy it because she would have to get up at two in the morning to go down to a smelly police station and there were so many downsides to the job that she decided to change to marriage law. So yeah, criminal law doesn't exactly sound like fun. ;D

Speaking of smelly police stations...I was just in one the other day...picking up this police radio from my friend's dad to bring home to MY dad to fix, and the most inviting thing about the whole place was the giant plastic rug in the main room. xD Didn't look like such a great place to be in all the time. Too many white walls for me, for one thing...they'd all have been painted neon orange within a month if I worked there... ;D But anyway, yea, maybe I'll steer clear of criminal law if that's the case...

And, although it's a fascinating subject, I think you'd have to be able to take the stress that comes with handling legal matters. If you can handle it (and the possiblity of a desk job) then I'd say, go for it. If not, I don't think you'd be very happy with the job.
