Mike surely is a psychopath...he seems heartless like Randall, when Randall tries to murder Sulley. I feel really sorry for the lizard, because Waternoose is such an ***. He manipulated him so badly... But do you really think that Randall dies in the trailer? Killilng by the hillbillies? Sorry for my bad english. I'll do my very best XD I don't WANT to believe that Randall died in that trailer(and those were Louisiana CAJUNS, not "hillbillies"; hillbillies do not live in swamps, but in the Appalachian Mountains), but unless I see or hear something official from Pixar, as opposed to a comic series or ride made by someone else, it's hard not to think of it that way. I have seen the damage a shovel can do to a living thing, and I know that Cajuns aren't going to go after something they think is an alligator with any intentions other than killing and eating it. Alligators are a food staple in Louisiana. It would take no less than a miracle for Randall to have survived, period, and another miracle for him not to be left with serious, life-altering permanent injuries if he did. Knowing that Mike and Randall were once close friends makes how this all wound up all the more sad and tragic. Rivals or not, a conscientious person should have realized how much Randall had changed and known that this was not normal, that something was wrong, and at least tried to help him. Mike was more concerned, though, with breaking the Scare Record first, more so than Randall was, and chose to torment Randall for his continuing "losing streak". When the opportunity to get rid of his former friend/roommate came up, especially now that Randall had lashed out at HIM, Mike jumped at the chance. Randall's haters make a big deal of HIM being "sadistic", but don't notice Mike and Sulley, and Mike especially, joking about the fact that they are about to commit murder. One more thing, a "pet peeve" of mine- please don't call Randall a "lizard"! He's no more a "lizard" than Sulley is a bear or a gorilla or a sloth. He's a MONSTER, just like the others. He's not even a reptile. pitbulllady I'm sorry, I didn't mean it so... Did you hear something from Pixar about Randalls fate? Well...maybe there will be a part 3 of the "Monster"-movies. Something that could tell more about them...I mean...there are 3 parts of "Toy Story". XD Are the comics official from Pixar? I read a bit about it on "wikipedia" and this is very...irritated... I'm neutral to Mike and Sullivan but Randall is not really the main villian and some fans misunderstood this badly. (sorry for my baaaad english u.u)

(sorry for my baaaad english u.u) No, Pixar has not released any official information about whether Randall is alive or dead. They have left that up to fans to decide, but based on what we DID see happening to him and WHERE this took place, a part of the Human World where humans eat alligators, it is not unreasonable to think that he did not survive. The comics were NOT written or published by either Disney or Pixar, although they were written with their permission. One of the artists claimed that they were "extended canon", but much of the comics do not support events in the movie, such as Boo not aging or growing, no mention of Randall having been thrown into the Human World, and Sid Phillips being a astrophysicist genius! Perfection is...not that achievable. Can strive for it, sure...but gotta get satisfied sometime. If I get the time and out of a rut...I'll see about the books. --- About the comics rauschele....while they have an insight or two (such as Sullivan's admittance that Wazowski just wants him to stroke his ego...and a compelling scene with Waternoose)...they are garbage. In a crossover, Sid Phillips comes in....and manages to break Randall and Waternoose out of the Maw, a maximum security prison. Sid...a boy we see torturing toys manages to get to the monster world, find a prison, get through it's security and out........no. Not at all.
As for Randall, has to be alive. Otherwise, the "good guys" are murderers.

Most kids do not understand death at all! Kids think that when you shoot someone, later they just get up and they are fine. MOST kids I know also have a very strong belief in getting revenge. They believe that if someone does YOU wrong, you should be obligated to do something even worse back to them! A lot of the people who saw MI still believe that regardless of whether Randall died or not, he deserved what he got and Sulley and Mike were fully justified in their roles in making sure he got it. Pixar initially wanted people to hate Randall that much, that we would not only care that he got seriously hurt or killed, but we'd find it funny. I've read many opinions on Pixar Planet, IMDb and other places where many people believe that no matter what happened to Randall, Sulley and Mike were heroes for having played a part in his "punishment", and that SOMEBODY had to have killed him because he tried to kill Mike and Sulley and most of all, because of what he tried to do to Boo. Even people who can understand that he was carrying out Waternoose's orders to eliminate Mike and Sulley cannot see past the fact that he was going to use a human child to test out that machine. pitbulllady

Until now, he has been - for many - just another throwaway villain. But not anymore. He is no longer just a bad guy who's evil for the sake of being evil, or jealousy or envy or whatever. He has his own story, and a rather sad one, for sure. In the long run - and yes, this is wishful thinking - it could give Pixar much more artistic freedom. If they had decided to make a sequel with a Darth Vaderesque redemption moment, for example, many would find it unrealistic or unbelievable. But now, Pixar has a whole story people can see to refer to. As Sean put it in another thread: … Sometimes to go forward, you have to go back. I mean if they made a sequel and made all these past references, what do you have? Lines, that's it. But NOW, you SEE that past and KNOW what's being referred to. Randall was a good person. He still is. And that can NEVER be taken away from him. …

I mean my mom sort of has the whole "eye for an eye" mentality but my father doesn't and I didn't grow up believing in "eye for an eye". I also never think anyone's death is funny, no matter who they are honestly. Dancing on someone's grave is always a bad thing, in my opinion. I don't care if it's the most evil person in the world...I think laughing about someone's death and dancing on their grave is a sick thing to do. I don't think Randall is evil....but even for people who really are much more of a bad apple....I just don't agree with dancing on someone's grave. …I've read many opinions on Pixar Planet, IMDb and other places where many people believe that no matter what happened to Randall, Sulley and Mike were heroes for having played a part in his "punishment", and that SOMEBODY had to have killed him because he tried to kill Mike and Sulley and most of all, because of what he tried to do to Boo. Sullivan's depiction in MU actually holds an interesting contrast to Randall's future. At least, in terms of sequel material.
"You've been number 1 for too long Sullivan!"
What Randall said, despite his condition at the time, bears a theme that's the focus of their relationship. Unfortunately to Randall, it's negative. Now if you recall in THIS topic, yeah, they would normally get along. But there is "something" that "keeps happening" whenever Randall's happy and Sullivan's involved.

Think about it: You make a movie, and its message is tolerance, understanding, love and compassion with things that are considered different. Yes, somebody makes that stupid decision to trade Randall's future for a Waternoose's "clever" arrest, but hey, the message is there. And then, you go on the internet where you find fans of your villain spreading the very same message as you've tried to convey, while fans of the protagonists express delight over his skull being crushed by a shovel, going so far as to call the whole "fair trial thing" "outdated"… Now, if you were the filmmaker, wouldn't you be at least a little bit ticked off? I would. If nothing more, Pixar has made a pretty good statement with MU: Randall's fans have, and always had, a valid point. Now, we just have to wait and wonder whether the other shoe will drop and they make a sequel which will rectify some of the protagonists' wrongdoings. Sullivan's depiction in MU actually holds an interesting contrast to Randall's future. At least, in terms of sequel material. "You've been number 1 for too long Sullivan!" Now if you recall in THIS topic, yeah, they would normally get along. But there is "something" that "keeps happening" whenever Randall's happy and Sullivan's involved. Not sure I understand what contrast you're referring to, but yes I can totally see Randall irrationally blaming Sulley for his misfortunes.

That's a good way to put it Diamond. With what I've heard...aside from one instance and a moment that will be critically hard for me personally...what they've shown in MU is clearly positive for Randall. They've listened. Or at least Dan has. And that's some comfort at least.
But it's humanity's bane. When you make something there will ALWAYS be somebody who hates it and somebody who ALWAYS loves it. --- I'm trying not to spoil anything for others Diamond. But it's something I noticed comparing what occurs in MI and what happens in MU. When it finally comes out, I'll be able to express what I noticed.
