Took me a while to find something relevant about the "twitterer". D23 is apparently "the official community for Disney fans". twitter.com/DisneyD23

To be brutally honest, I have no idea. It would be nice if someone could try to reassure us, though. *looks for RandallBoggs*

*taps lip* Most of these tweets seem to be about special events relating to Disney...so making one about Newt getting bumped and M.I. replaceing it leans more on the truthful side as they might have little to lie about if they're event posters. *rubs temple* While this is not confirmed, it is indeed disturbing on two levels if it is. One, Newt got itself bumped. It was the debut of Gary Rydstrom as a director, so this would have been a big thing for someone. Not to mention I think that this is the FIRST, if this is true, Pixar film to actually GET canned. The fact it's getting rumors of being canceled is definetly surprising, but in some ways it seems Disney is the one making these claims, and we all know about Disney's treatment of reptiles.
*holds up hands* Yes, I've seen Princess and the Frog. While Louis was entertaining, he kinda got downplayed a little. And Jo-Jo or Ju-Ju or whatever his name was was more of a willing servant to Madam Odie and didn't even get himself a speaking role. The point is that this being a PIXAR FILM BEING CANNED means something.
As for M.I. *shakes head* Disney may be putting their reigns over on it. Which is not good. They'll more likely take the BOOM! comic's shameful route. Allot of the work would already be done, which they will look upon as being an easy street to travel on.

Or is there nothing we can do whatsoever?

I'm surprised no one's giving up already.

What is there to give up on? They're mainly moving it up a year. Their motive is unclear at the moment. *rubs temple* An interesting question would be.....what would happen to those solely staffed on Newt? Which was essentially a pro-reptilian (yes, they're amphibians *pitbulllady* if I recall, but the fact is they LOOK reptilian) sort of thing....and the animation from THAT could be used to some degree instead of being tossed out.
But if Disney goes with those pathetic excuses for stories from BOOM! comics, then it'll be the first Pixar film allot of people will hate.

If their motive is unclear (which it is), then how come you implied that it's because Disney wants to use the Boom! material? Apologies if that comes across as accusatory; I'm just feeling really horrible about this. The question about the Newt staff is certainly a good one.....but surely there's hard facts in our favor?

If Newt IS being dumped and M.I. IS being brought a YEAR AHEAD....it would mean that the work that would go into that year for the film is now out the window. In such, rushing and cuts might need to be made. And since the BOOM! Comics were essentially a dump of ideas Pixar had for sequels, Disney might in some way have them use THAT. Bulk of the story just sitting there to take, in visual no less, so less work, easy money. That's Disney.
There's little hard facts in all this, there's still little to go on.

Wait, now I'm confused. Are you saying that there IS a possibility that things will go our way via the bumping (and possibly "canning") of Newt, or that there isn't due to rushing deadlines?

For one we DON'T know if Newt is getting bumped or canned. It would be the FIRST Pixar movie to be the latter.

So, we DON'T have hope or facts on our side. Great. Now I have to expect the worst to happen in this sequel.
