I didn't really mean it that way. Randall DID actions.... He DID built something out of hopes of helping people. Trying, sorry...not considering, to do something for someone else does encourage heroism...

But he didn't build the SE out of choice, and if he HAD been given a choice, I think he would've chosen staying out of the situation all together.

But he didn't build the SE out of choice, and if he HAD been given a choice, I think he would've chosen staying out of the situation all together. Most likely, yes, especially if he'd known how much trouble it would be. If he could have dropped out after the fact, after he'd seen how detrimental it was to his health and social life, he'd have called it quits, reward or no reward. I believe that this is where Waternoose must have employed some threats, since he would have realized that Randall was getting "cold feet" about the project, in spite of the perks he'd been offered. The fear of being exiled into the Human World, or being killed outright, would have kept Randall going on the thing. It also would have explained his desparation and willingness to commit murder himself, if he knew that the punishment for NOT following orders would be that severe. Randall would have justified building the machine with the whole "for the good of everyone" in order to cover for the stress he was under, since that's what people do when they are forced into doing something. They try to find a valid reason for having to do it. pitbulllady

Yeah, he would be trying to convince himself that what he was doing was the right thing to do, and trying to block out the little voice in his head that was telling him that Waternoose wasn't willing to keep his promises.

If you guys want to learn how the whole plot fitted together by it's pieces, just read Trainer Days......
With either way, by my definition, he is one, by your two....well....that's suggestable... Heck, even if Waternoose did keep his promise and Randall made lost of people happy, there were still those who don't enjoy his success...

Gee, thanks for all your comments, it made me feel a lot better. But try telling all that to my family! They still think Randall is a ¨villain¨no matter what!
