Muaha! Point proven. *stands triumphantly, hands on hips* Really. The vogons are so cute! Big baked potatoes full of fat. awwww! :-*LOL! Then again I found Watoo in the Starwars movies to be an adorable little git though too. Hey - speaking of HitchHikers, who read that debate on IMDB about Mos Def's preformance? I thought he made an excellent Ford. -Lauren ;D

I haven't read the argument, but I agree that he played the part well. ;D

Me too!
I liked the happy - go - lucky approach he had to Ford, it suited him well. I loved the costume too.
Zaphod....*drools* he was exactly how I imagined him!

But although the actor acted out Ford very well, he didn't look anything like I imagined him to be. I don't want to sound racist, but I never imagined him to be black. I hope I don't sound as though I'm discriminating, but that's just what I thought. Zaphod was also a little different to how I imagined him- starting off with the whole two heads, thing, and ending with his general...him-ness. I dunno- I always thought of him as even, dare I say it, richardier, more of a cool dude. But hey, I'm obsessed with one of his quotes that they didn't use in the movie- "You're so unhip I'm surprised your bum hasn't fallen off." A classic!

Nononono, no worries. He wasn't described as being black in the books, so nobody really imagined him to be. That's where the debate came from, me finks. Oh well - he did a fantastic job.
As for Zaphod's two heads - so not how I imagined them. I thought of two long necks attatched to two identical heads that would chime in to eachother's sentences, not that strange pez dispenser thing he had going on.
*scampers off* HUMMA KAVULA! HUMMA KAVULA!
*I loved him, he was so great!*

LOL on my previous post I said I thought Zaphod should've been 'c o c k i e r' not what it came up as- it's a word censor, and the reason it says Richard rather than the other word is because Richard is the name of the guy one of my friends fancies.

The original book described Ford as having unruly gingerish hair, being of small stature and having these rather oddish pale eyes that he seldom blinked. That's why the producers of the old BBC series picked David Dixon for the role; the dude DOES look sorta wierd, and it's in a way that is hard to really put a finger on, just like Adams describes the character in the book. I know he'd be too old to play the role now, but I would have at least thought they'd try to find someone who looked similar. pitbulllady

haha that censor had me thinking "huh...?" and then "ooohhhh!" I agree with some peoples thoughts about Ford. I too never envisioned him as black, and I thought the TV version of Ford was a great adaption from the book. However...I really liked the film version Ford, and quickly warmed to the approach. Zaphod did indeed rock *drools along with rathereccentric* and I also really liked the Deep Thought computer voice in comparison to the TV version. It reminded me of the female version of Holly from Red Dwarf. Oh yeah that unhip line had me laughing outloud, Lizard-girl! ;D I also really like this Marvin Quote- "Pardon me for breathing, which I never do anyway so I don't know why I bother to say it." I don't think it came up in the film, which is a shame xxx

Oh yeah- Deep Thought's voice was perfect! I wrote the unhip thing on the back of my English book, and as they were given out in the class, everyone was laughing. ;D

I second that motion! ;D
Okay - BBC version of HitchHikers. EEK! lol! I honestly felt like I was on some sort of drug. *I have never done them, but I've heard stories*. However...Ford in the old one? With the ginger hair and cute face? REEEOWWWR! Awwww! I could have just screamed he was so cute.
*Grabs another drool holding pan for LilBandit and self*
And Trillian? Eeek! EEEEK!
