Anyone else seen this film? I saw it yesterday, and although the special effects and acting were good, the storyline just seemed to jump about too much.

Well, I'll be going to see it tomorrow--at least that's the plan, since Tuesdays mean $5 tickets instead of $8 ones. I don't go to the movies very much because eight bucks, for a lot of films, is a total rip-off. But I'm definitely hoping that this one won't disappoint; so far I've heard good things about it. *crosses fingers*

Well, I saw it! It was brilliant, I thought. Sure, I'd still recommend reading the books first, but it was very well done. From the first moment of singing dolphins to all the various jokes...I loved it. ;D Alan Rickman was excellent as Marvin, the maniacally depressed robot. The ending where he saves everyone...it's hilarious. I can tell they plan to make "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe," since it ends at the point where the main group is headed there. Plus, a number of things still need to be revealed to people; the exact significance of bringing your towel with you at all times, and the reason the bowl of petunias thought what it did as it fell toward the alien planet....

;D That part was done so hilariously!! I was laughing sooo hard; well, I was for most of it. I kept making comments to my mom next to me about remembering it all from the books, and loving the way it was portrayed onscreen...

Yeah... Except to my parents, it was a load of gobbledegook. I guess you really have to read the book first before seeing the film. ;D

I finally saw it! Thought it was so great, best film I've seen in yonks! and yes- THE SPERM WHALE! LOL! "And what's that, that big round thing, it looks like it should be called something round, ground, that's what I'll call it, I wonder if I can be friends with the ground-" Bill Bailey is so hilarious, he is the most random guy in the universe! has anyone checked out his stand up shows on dvd/vid? you should, people! he's so funny! here's a little treat- when they're queuing alongside those many species, trying to sign a release form for Trillion, check out one of the species in the queue- it's the old, TV series version of Marvin! He was a rather badly made, card board box-y type robot. Esp loved- the spades hitting them for having ideas Marvin of course, and his saving everyone at the end ;D Rickman was perfect voice casting. the sighing doors! Me and my freak mates have been wandering about college sighing along with the doors as they open ;D Bill Nighy- he's always great the little animated segments which demonstrated pointers in the book. very clever and funny. the sperm whale. that scene should one day be established as a classic. I about died laughing at cinema. and well, everything else about it. the only thing that could have made it better was if my cinema drink hadn't spilt over my jeans. but i'll blame that on my own ineptness Roll on the next one! *sits and waits, wide-eyed and drooling at the mouth* Me wants moooooore! xxx PS: Lizard Girl, you are a fellow UK gal, aren't you? in case you didn't know, they're showing the old Hitchikers Guide... on BBC2 every wednesday. Take a lookie if you cann-y!

I'm still a big fan of the books and the old BBC tv series, as tacky as it was. Much of that was intentional, since it was meant to parody "Star Trek", the original series, and THAT sure was tacky and cheesy! Every time I read the books after being introduced to the whole shebang by the BBC series, which aired on US Public Television in 1984 for the first time, I can still see and hear the actors, so for me, they will always be those characters.

Yeah... Except to my parents, it was a load of gobbledegook. I guess you really have to read the book first before seeing the film. ;D Yeah. My dad appreciated the books, and the film. My mom didn't care for the books and didn't even get through the entire first one. She did like the movie, though, or at least most of it..
