Like said, I wasn't talking about Anime. But that is true.
Like uhh...Inhuysha (can't spell it right). He's half-demon and, eventually, does good things...though with the side benefit of getting more power from reasembling a crystal...

Though it is true that in Anime, the definition of demon is quite broad- if you've seen Howl's Moving Castle (EEEK!) then you'd know that Calcifer, a fire demon, is actually really good-hearted. Yeah, but it's STILL Anime, still an Eastern or Oriental notion of a "demon", which is quite different from the Western view. The Japanese use many names to refer to such beings, but since none of those names have any English equivalent, when Anime titles are brought to the US or any other English-speaking country, the word "demon" is substituted. In truth, Japanese culture has no concept of "demons" or "the Devil" as those influenced by Judeo-Christian or even Muslim beliefs do. And Sean, if your concept of "demons" does not come from either Eastern(primarily Japanese)or Western(Abrahamic beliefs), then where DOES it come from? I'm pretty well-versed in the beliefs of various world cultures, but I have yet to encounter any culture besides Asian(and even that, as I've explained, is not accurate due to problems with translations)in which anything known as a "demon" is considered anything BUT an inherently Evil being. pitbulllady

Well thank you. It actually comes from a show me and Ran watch called Charmed. It's about 3 sisters with the power of witches who protect innocents in their city and (around the world). Of course, there are a few things. Like they have this "guardian angel" named Leo, and one of the girls, Phobe, eventually marries a demon named Cole. Cole is who I was talking about. He was a demon called "Balthazar" who was on the task of killing the Charmed Ones (the three sisters). But he fell in love with Phobe and eventually turned to her side. He killed a few "evil do-ers", but still had that darkness of Balthazar in him. It took a power-stripping potion, giving up his powers, to give him a life free of demon-hood. ....I can't really explain it. Their lives are complicated.

It's called "Hollywood Artistic Liscense", which basically means anything goes, whether or not it every had any cultural or factual merit whatsoever, or ANY merit, for that matter. Yes, it may be cute and funny, but has no basis at all in any beliefs of any religion or culture. It's just something the show's writers made up. In any Western theology or culture, "demons" are not flesh-and-blood creatures composed of DNA at all, anymore so than angels(their exact opposites)are. At least the "demons" of Anime ARE based on beings from Japanese folklore and culture, not totally made up on the whims of some Hollywood producer. pitbulllady

It really depends on the story or whatever itself- each case is different in its own way.

True with what Cool said. A few things in Charmed ARE based on real facts. Such as the Book of Shadows, and equivilant book to the one of the demons.
