What would be your idea for a sequel? Mine would have Ms. Flint struggle to help Sully deal with a CEO position in which he is in over his horns, while Mike strugles to propose to Celia.

Of course, there's got to be Randall returning in the equation, and eventually truly realising his mistakes and aiming to be a better person. Perhaps someone can see how Sulley is struggling with MI, and wants to take over the company illegitimately...? And maybe Boo grows up?

I think Sulley would be having some serious reservations about being CEO by now. He's just not the on-top business type. Of course, Mike will be pressuring him to hold onto that position, for MIKE'S sake.
Boo's family(perhaps the standard Disney-esque single mom scenario)moves away from their address at the time of the last movie, so Sulley loses contact with her temporarily.Along with her mom, her new home happens to be with relatives in southern Louisiana, and those relatives(grandparents, aunt and uncle, maybe)also happen to have taken in a boarder of sorts, who earns his keep as a general handyman...uh, make that handyMONSTER. Boo barely remembers Randall, and he does not at first recognize her, since she's changed so much since he last saw her, and she was just a toddler when she last saw him, but right away they are uncomfortable around each other, and Boo's mother does not trust Randall at all, simply because he does not "fit" her notion of how the world should "work". Gradually, though, a sort of bond builds between the former Scarer, and his former ScarEE, based around something they have in common: a love of horses. You see, as a teenager, the only foster home where Randall ever felt welcome and felt like he was part of a family was at a facility run by retired Monsters, Inc. Scarer, the late "Fangs" McDonald, and it was a ranch-style facility for troubled youth that used "equine therapy", involving the youth learning how to socialize, care for and train wild horses and get them ready for adoption. It was while there that Randall discovered a knack with horses, who were the first living things that he'd interacted with who did not judge him. Mary(Boo's real name) also, like many little girls, is crazy about horses, though she's never been around any real ones. Her relatives there in Louisiana USED to own and breed Creole horses(a nearly-extinct breed native to Louisiana, descended from the original Spanish Andalusians brought over by de Soto's Conquistadores in the 1500's), but they have gotten too old and no longer have them, only the stables where horses used to live. Following Hurricane Rita, Mary hears a strange sound in the bayou behind the house, and stubbornly defying her elders, wanders off into the swamp to find what is making the sound. Only Randall sees her leave, and already concerned that he will be blamed if anything happens to her, due to her mother's open distrust and hostility, he sets off after her...
Meanwhile, Sulley is having a lot of problems and M.I. The new president of the BOD is an old friend of Mr. Waternoose, and feels that Sulley does not deserve the position and cannot handle it. Stocks have leveled off due to a "glut" of energy, which forced prices down. Sulley is also stressed over Boo moving away, and the possibility that he will never see her again. If that's not bad enough, the highly-publicized trial of Henry J. Waternoose is finally approaching, and one of his lawyers totally has it in for the current CEO. In a preliminary hearing, the legal defense team convinces the judge to throw out the most compelling piece of evidence against the old crab-that video-taped confession, in which he declared his intentions to kidnap 1,000 children if it would save the company, as constituting Entrapment. Now, ironically, Sulley's simmering guilt over what he and Mike did to Randall is coming to fruition, as the attorneys are close to having a mistrial declared because a key witness, Mr. Boggs, is nowhere to be found. A deadline is established for Randall to be located, and if he does not show up, the judge will declare a mistrial, and Waternoose will walk free! Sulley is now faced with having to find Randall in the Human World, starting at the last place they left him-Louisiana, while fearing that the worst did indeed happen to his former antagonist.
The big issue will be how people can change, and how former "enemies" can learn to tolerate each other, and in some cases, even become friends. It also deals with the importance of friendship and family over prestigious careers, and of forgiveness most of all.

Ahhh...don't the people in Louisiana notice something...different...about a handyman with eight limbs and scales?

Ahhh...don't the people in Louisiana notice something...different...about a handyman with eight limbs and scales? People in southern Louisiana are a unique lot. They will eat virtually any animal, BUT once they realize that Randall is actually an intelliegent, articulate being, he'd be treated like anyone else, which is to say, he'd pretty much be considered a family member by whoever he makes such contact with first, even if Randall himself has no idea how family operates. Cajun and Creole culture is not unlike that of native Hawaiians, in that they, too, have a concept similar to "O'hana", in which "family" can be very inclusive! They are also very, very tolerant of differences in people, as long as your "differences" don't infringe upon their way of life. People would be surprised upon initially meeting a talking, upright-walking, eight-limbed scaly monster, but I don't think, based on my own experiences in the Bayou State, that they'd have a real issue with it. pitbulllady

Could you post again? The second DVD revealed it took at least five years to make the movie. Of course, now that the characters, background, casting, etc. is done, a sequel should not take so long. I sure hope they get one in this decade.

Just encouragement toward Pitbulllady.
Anyway...all they really would have to do is tweaking, still there are difficult factors, such as Sullivan's individual hairs.

Given the time that has elapsed between the making of the original movie, and even now, things like Sullivan's hair would be much easier. Technology, especially in the field of CGI animation, has made huge strides since M.I. was filmed. Still, it's doubtfull that we will see a sequel before the year 2010, unfortunately, unless Pixar increases production, or WAL-E turns out to be a working name for the sequel, to keep things secret, just as The Hidden City was the working name for the original-nothing at all to do with monsters in the title. pitbulllady

Yeah I suppose. I mean with how much realism is brought in video games, soon we won't tell the difference ^_^
Well WAL-E STILL sounds like robot to me. I mean it's basically one of the things Pixar hasn't done yet right?

I mean it's basically one of the things Pixar hasn't done yet right? While it's true that Pixar has not done a movie about robots yet, DREAMWORKS has-the movie Robots. If Pixar were to come out with a robot movie after Dreamworks, people would accuse them of copying Katzenburg's people, which would be an interesting role reversal. Usually, it's Dreamworks who comes up with movie ideas after Pixar has already done something similar. pitbulllady

Yeah that's true. I think Bugs Life and Antz was one of those. Still. Pixar and Dreamworks share similiar concepts but it's not like they're copying one another. Well there WAS that "The Wild" and "Maddagascar" between Disney and uhh...whomever made Maddagascar as well.

They DO copy each other, heheh ^_^ They sure do! Right after Pixar announced the plot for Ratatouille, Dreamworks announced the production of Flushed Away, which is a story about... a RAT living in the SEWERS! Pretty original, huh? pitbulllady
