Heh heh. Pitbulllady....how unfortunate...
No. CRIME isn't the city's problem. No. The C.D.A. takes care of that. Citizens go about their daily lives....feeling protected from crime...humans....all those little things people worry about....
In Monsters Inc., the "shadowy organization" you speak off did not exist. We did not see it.... None of you....well....including myself...in a way....have never seen the inside of Scare Co.....none have seen what was hidden in the "film" you see.....
Heh.
Don't answer this, not yet....but here's something But tell me....why would they make up such a thing as "toxic humans"? To protect the citizens? Perhaps....but why even bother with such a thing if monsters SO long ago scared with complete over-confidence of their abilities........

Why or how would humans make up some of the ridiculous notions so many of US believe about certain kinds of animals, or other races/cultures of humans, for that matter? Why do so many people believe that ALL snakes are "poisonous" and out to kill us, for no reason at all? Why do so many people believe that a non-venomous Coachwhip snake will chase you down, wrap itself around you, beat you savagely with its tail, then stick its tail up your nose to see if you're still breathing, and beat you some more if you are? Why do so many people to this very day, with all the cable tv and internet and whatnot, STILL believe that snakes and lizards are "slimy"? I've had Black students who were SHOCKED to discover that I did not ride around in a limo or live in a big mansion; they'd always thought all White people were rich, and were stunned to find out that many of us have the same financial worries that they do.
Why do many people continue to believe such absurd things? Easy-the less you actually KNOW about someone or something, the more your mind fills in the blanks. Someone has an unpleasant experience with something, and tells someone else, who tells someone ELSE...eventually the tale gets stretched more and more, but at the same time becomes so deeply ingrained in the public psyche that it is accepted as the gospel. Look at all the "Urban Legends" out there now. No one specifically started these rumors for any deep, dark, secret purpose. Humans and monsters are much alike, as I stated. Since we live in separate worlds, we know little about each other, our minds tend to fill in those blanks. I doubt any monster could specifically tell HOW the myth of human children being toxic got started, anymore than I can specifically pin-point how the asinine Urban Legend of tarantulas laying eggs in cacti, which then explode as the eggs develope into fully-grown(and supposedly deadly...yeah, right)tarantulas got started, but I bet you won't find many people who would NOT believe that to be true, either! That does not mean that some full-fledged coverup or conspiracy was at work, just ignorance and rumors. That's all it takes.

And I don't mean to be funny, and you know I love Randall as much as the next Randall fan (to BITS), but...
THIS IS A FILM.
What happened in the film, though it may reflect some events that have happened in the real world, and has moral issues that could be applied to every day life, didn't actually happen in real life, and whilst we are talking about this, I think it's important not to forget that.
So, concerning these 'conspiraces' with the CDA, etc etc., well, we won't be able to find out anything more than they give us in the movie. We will only ever be able to have educated guesses until they release a sequal.

That's kinda the point I was trying to make, in my own little way. There is no reason to assume some deep, dark, ongoing, conspiracy to keep all monsters "in the dark" with regards to human children being toxic. I know how easy it is for things that are equally as absurd to be accepted as the truth in OUR world, and have given examples. It does not take a government or big business conspiracy to make that happen, just lack of education. Sure, there will be those who will find out the truth, but we will always be looked upon as "nutcases". There is nothing in the movie to suggest that monsters are any different from us, in terms of being gullible to silly beliefs and "wive's tales" or Urban Legends.

Thank you for expressing that, PitbullLady.
I completely agree. That is so frustrating, when people automatically assume we're going to be dead/broke etc etc because of one side of the story. I find that's a lot of what Michael Moore does. I don't want to start a big debate here or anything. I believe Bowling for Columbine and Canadian Bacon were good films, but Farenheight 11, I think, showed his side of the story. I think he has a lot of people scared who really haven't done any research for themselves. In fact, I think he set a bit of a fad. I don't want to pick a fight here (some people are very sensitive to that, I understand) I know the US govn't hasmade mistakes, but I think it is a lot of rumours from uneducated people.

And who says I haven't told you guys a few things I found from research hmm? ^_^ The only thing that ANY of us have to research is the movie itself, the handful of books centered around it, and interviews with people connected to the making of the movie, as well as personal experience which parallels that of characters in the movie. You have hinted at all this secret stuff that no one has any access to or knowledge of but you, so I'm politely asking: lay the cards on the table. Insofar as the things we don't actually see in the movie, like Cool said, the best we can do is to make educated guesses based on knowledge from non-M.I. sources. Sorry if I come off too snippy-I've had a really tough week, emotionally, after what has happened in Louisiana and Mississippi, and I don't know of anyone with a soul who can watch the scenes from that region and NOT be affected, even if you've never been there, and know no one personally who lives there, but honestly there is no evidence, in anything any of us can watch, or read, to suggest that Monsters, Inc. was anything but a division of a large utilities company, which had a corrupt CEO, or that the company instigated some mass "misinformation" campagne to make monsters believe that human children were toxic. There would be no NEED to do that, anymore than the state of Texas needs to spread mass rumors that snakes are bad in order to justify their annual "rattlesnake roundups". People are just gullible enough to believe the worst, anyway, with no "push" from any company or organization. pitbulllady pitbulllady

Oh, just watching on CTV makes me sick. It just must be awful down there. I agree as well Sean, it would be nice to know your sources. No more secrets from the people!

Hmmm... Keeping secrets is fun ^_^ Makes it more dramatic in the end.
Hmm.... Maybe we should switch back to the original topic, we're getting a bit....hostile in this territory. Yes, I know a few things... But we shouldn't argue....

I've got allot of resources ^_^ All in good time I explain. That's what my fanfics are for. They aren't just for entertainment. Some of the things in them are actually data I've gathered. Well, what books and 'data'? I mean, I'm sure the rest of us Randall fans want to know where you're getting the info from, since we have as much of a right as you do to know about all of this.
