I actually saw the comic last night in the Disney Store in Pineville, NC. I started to buy it, but this was at 5 minutes past the nine o'clock closing time, and they had shut down the cash registers. I had gone up to the mall there to find a camera lens(which Wolf Camera did not have, naturally)and to pick up a couple of Blue Beauty Snakes from a friend who lives there. Mike and Sulley did not build the robot; Mr. Waternoose bought it and unveiled it at a big presentation. He got it from a "private contractor". The robot looks like a cross between R2D2 and a smaller version of the Omnidroid(which makes me wonder just WHO that "private contractor" was) and is designed to work with a Scare Team(and though Waternoose wouldn't admit, probably eventually replace them) to scare kids. Waternoose assigned it to Mike and Sulley, after having earlier promised RANDALL that HE could be the first Scarer to use it(sounds like Waternoose, doesn't it? "Cronyism" at work, as usual), so Randall decides to sabatage the robot by reprogramming it to be sweet and non-threatening and to really like human kids, like a sort of mechanical dog. He sneaks into the room of the kid it's supposed to scare, and does just that. The little girl in the room is, of course, delighted with this new "toy" that came out of her closet-like early Christmas and a birthday all rolled into one. She and and robot have a great time coloring and playing dress-up. Randall, having hidden under the kid's bed, falls asleep, and he does look so cute while nodding off, trying to fight off the inevitable, though I felt sorry for him knowing this was probably the first sleep he'd had in days. Sulley and Mike come into the room to see why the kid isn't scared, watching from the closet. Meanwhile, the little girl discovers ANOTHER wonderful "toy" underneath her bed-it's big and purple and soft, perfect for coloring on with her markers, so she does just that. Now *I* thought THAT would have been an interesting story on its own, since this little girl was no more afraid of Randall than Boo had been of Mike and Sulley. Mike and Sulley realize who is under the bed, and that he had likely done something to the robot, so while the kid is preoccupied with her purple "toy" under the bed(and Randall is logging some serious Zzz's the whole time, oblivious to anything that's going on), Mike comes in to distract the kid with some of his lame jokes, and Sulley goes to wake Randall up by nudging his shoulder(no, Sulley does not hit him or even is rough with him-his main concern is that some adult will come in and find his co-worker snoozing under the bed and Randall will tell them about the existance of the Monster World). Randall, now more multi-hued than usual, thanks to that little girl and her markers(I'm reminded of my sister playing "connect-the-dots" with a green marker on the polka-dotted belly of my not-too-bright pet bobcat when she was five), wakes up, jumps out from underneath the bed, not really knowing where he is or what Sulley and Mike are doing there(anyone who's ever woke up in a different place than you usually wake up in can relate), and the robot, now programmed to LIKE kids, perceives him as a threat because he's loud and a bit confrontational, so it tries to attack him. Between that and suddenly realize that he is in a HUMAN house and the embarrassment of realizing that Sulley and Mike have seen him wearing some silly clothes the little girl put on him(Randall is obviously one of those really DEEP sleepers), Randall takes off for the closet door as fast as he can, with pink marker designs all over him.

Yeah, I remember the ending as well. But I didn't want to say it for fear of embarrassing Randall.

Personally I don't believe it that much. The little girl like this HAD to have been scared of him...but in any case, we have yet another clue to Randall's sleep depression. See... Even in such situations you find clues and facts.

WHY should a "little girl like this" have to had been scared of Randall? I know that *I* sure would NOT have been scared to have found a big scaly creature under MY bed as a kid, since I never was scared of snakes, lizards or any other reptilian animals. Not all kids are; in fact, NO child is naturally afraid of reptiles. They must be TAUGHT to fear them, and if her parents were not afraid, she would have had no reason to be. While it might be odd for a young child not to fear any large creature in general, if it's not unreasonable to believe that Boo was unafraid of Sulley, why would it be any more unreasonable to assume that a different kid might see Randall as a big cuddly thing, just as Boo saw Sulley that way?

That sounds like my childhood . If I found a giant reptile under my bed I would have been delighted by my discovery, and I would have begged my parents to let me keep him ;D Of course, my mother would be okay with him, but my stepdad would express fears of the dogs (St. Bernards and Labs) getting eaten, that was what happened when I asked for a python...... They're both okay with reptiles though. I am allowed to keep small reptiles, I recently adopted my cousin's leopard gecko ;D.

I'm just saying from her actions. I didn't think she'd be scared, I thought she might just want to avoid him or something... !! Hey I'm not on trial here. Personally I wouldn't mind a monitor ^_^

Before you even think of buying one, take Pitbulllady's advice. She's the expert ^_^

Pittbulllady? I read the comic, and I think you got one little detail wrong in your summery. Mike and Sully actually screwed up the robot and sent it into Randall's room (after the test), and the robot was the one who drew on him.... while he was sleeping..... in his own house.... those two trespassed on a co-worker! Rage!
On another note, did anyone look at the comic and notice the Woody cameo? I guess they wanted a Woody to go with the Jessie cameo ^_^

What was the little girl doing there, then? She was there when the robot took off after Randall.
