They make a pretty good team, even though Randall seems to be a bit waspish... but thats probably stress related. I know plenty of very pleasant people who are very nice most of the time, but god help the unfortunate fool who pisses said nice people off when they're stressed out.

I know plenty of very pleasant people who are very nice most of the time, but god help the unfortunate fool who pisses said nice people off when they're stressed out. I am one of those people, sad to say. It's just one of my weakness that I happen to share with Randall. Most people who know me casually, who don't have to live with me or work with me on a day-to-day basis, don't get to see that "dark side", but it's there. It's not as bad as it once was, though, since with time you DO learn to control impulses. This is one of the reasons I can soooo relate to Randall, since he's a lot like me in that respect. pitbulllady

Same reason I made a humongous site for him. ^_^ Loved him, because I understood him and where he was coming from. He just didn't strike that "villian" cord with me, though he was always being referred to as one and he did some objectionable things during the movie. But he was alot more believable in character depth and personality and problems than, say, Mike or Sulley. They seemed to have everything going for them and had a great life, whereas Randall didn't have it so hot. He was, as they say, an "oddball" in the monster world. He was "different", so everyone picked on him. (Also, Mike just plain annoyed me throughout the movie, so I was glad to see someone standing up to him.) Besides, I always loved and rooted for the underdogs and Randall is the perfect example of one. Not to mention, I love characters who are "real" - ones with depth and those who you can relate with. I also liked him because he was cute. ^_^ Lol. But, then again, what Randall fangirl doesn't think that?

A few COUNTRIES? You mean a few "COUNTIES", don't you? I'm about a seven-hour drive from you, give or take a bit. I have been to West Virginia, and passed through the western portion of Maryland on the way, so that's why I'm saying seven hours. It took about 8 1/2 to get to West Virginia.

And the whole Mike thing...I don't know how people can LIKE the guy!

That takes intelligence, the kind of intelligence that kind of makes a person a little crazy. Hah. I like that. Sadly, I've nothing insightful about Randall to contribute to my own thread. It bothers me.

Hey, you can always say that your reasons are so dark and deep and secret that you yourself don't even know what they are!

I shall. Next time. But for now there's something I've been mulling over for a while.
I agree wholeheartedly with Pitbulllady about Randall's estimated age. Sarcasm and immaturity aside, I think Randall has an interesting arsenal of slang and the "up-to-date" English I tend to hear around the college masses. Such fun tidbits of conversation are just things that, in my opinion, sound natural coming out of young adults. Imagine a college professor or another adult of considerable age coming up to you and starting off a conversation by asking what you thought of so and so and then going, “Pretty crazy, huh?” I’ve heard several failed attempts of professors trying to woo their students with an impressive array of modern language and…they’ve strained a muscle or two. Yesh. I am biased. But to me, it just sounds incredibly out of place. Randall's also fairly brash (and I use the term loosely) about any issues he's got with his fellow co-workers. I may be wrong, considering levels of maturity vary by person rather than an exact age, but that's not something I'd usually see in a professional setting dominated by a middle aged populace. That, or the guy's stuck in a rut of an eternal 20-something-year-old mind set. But I’m seriously doubting it. It'd be a little exaggerated to have a 30-year-old adult behaving like that.
And it makes me think about how old Sullivan is.. Supposedly, he and Mike pretty much grew up together since they brought up fourth grade memories during the movie; thing is, Sullivan's overall attitude, personality, and, let's face it, his voice, make him take on a much more older, mature image. He shrugs off Randall's insults and moves on with life, whereas Mike actually sits through them and takes the time to snap back. I'd say he and Randall are right up there within the same age range, what, with neither of them achieving a higher level of tolerance over the other. The times those two locked horns outnumbered the times Randall expressed his contempt towards Sullivan.
I'm giving myself a headache.
