*waves hand* Categories, themes...doesn't really matter. To me, I'm sure the theme is relatively in the requirements, which from your vids you've got. We'll wait for the end of August for now...let'em stew... ------ *nods* Boo was partially an innocent in the events really...it was Sullivan that took it upon himself to protect her. And in all honesty, Randall doesn't really blame her.
*raises eye* And you believe that? *looks to Sgtyayap* You DID mention the "coincidental" appearence of Waternoose just before Sullivan got those huge numbers right? (and for added measure, try adding a clip of Sullivan's "Employee of the Month" wall...) -------- Don't feel unnerved Sgtyayap....which video were you thinking of submitting, or are you going to compile them in one? I could look it over if you want, help you work out the kinks in some of the info. Many of it I posted myself...

Update regarding the contest (sorry ): The Star Swordsman, though (s)he did not answer my main question for spoiler reasons, implied that the theme IS going to be very broad, as any movie can be used, and there was no mention of the optional storyline going hand-in-hand with the theme. This could be very good. ;D

Just found your post, RandallBoggs. I'm planning to submit an edited version of the video explaining why he isn't evil, as opposed to the campaign video.
And yes, I WAS planning to add another detail, though not that one (I'll probably add that too, though). I was thinking of the scene when Randall is trying to get information out of Wazowski, as some people probably think Randall was going to kill him then.

Yes, currently I'm working right now, I shouldn't be posting, but nothing is really stopping me. Good idea. Mentioning the campaign isn't a good idea at this point, getting the message out there and gathering some additional support (as well as to spot potentials there) is a first step.
*nods* And glad you took note of my info that he was actually giving them a way OUT of all of the events.

Thanks . If you have any other suggestions, I would recommend sending them soon, as time is needed for the music we had discussed to be reviewed as well (which, unfortunately, seems to only be easily reviewed by uploading it).

Alright, I looked over the film....and have a few notes. You might want to cut a little in the beginning...right after the close up of Ran's face, where you talk about the bags under his eyes, should cut to him starting his psyching...the few seconds in between with no info might be increasing the scene too long. And might do so again after the psyching comment to Ran's speech of "Winds of Change" to get to the racist comment on Wazowski.
For the scarefloor bit...you should add when Waternoose comes on and talking to Sullivan all friendly (and might add the bit when they're in the dispatch area and Waternoose is getting coffee, talking to Sulley specifically) like...a comment along the lines of "They seem like family" type of thing, to enrich the rigging note. Also you might want to add the apparent differrance between Randall's taking of congrats to Sullivan (while Randall simple stayed put with a smile and winked a "Told ya I could do it" look, Sullivan takes it in greater stride, high-fiving everyone).
For when Randall sneezes, you might want to put that it links to him getting sick from working on the extractor so much.
And that's about it...I'll see if there's any info to add...
OH! And...GRAND congrats to you by the way! When you noted Fungus's reaction to Waternoose stating it WAS indeed his idea! *shakes head* In all honesty I don't think any of us have mentioned that, and certainly I didn't notice that look Fungus gave. (then again I have the film in memory as I haven't seen it for 5/6 years despite owning it). Grand kudos for noting that!

v3 up and running! Of course, I'm going to rename it for the contest for the sake of subtlety, though.
EDIT: By the way, thank you both (RandallBoggs and mentalguru) for the input!
EDIT #2: v3.1: Two minor visual mistakes fixed: meant to have Randall's first scene at Boo's door fade in, and deleted an unneeded frame during Boo's attack on Randall.

v3.2: Finally remembered to add an extra, very important, scene: when Randall offers Mike a chance to walk away from the incident.

Much better! I really like this version.
But you'll hate me now- because of another thing I think you could add.
People mostly have a problem with Randall because he was going to experiment on Boo, a two year old child. But I think it would be pretty obvious that Randall, like other monsters DIDN'T view humans as sentient beings on the same level as monsters. Just dangerous lesser ANIMALS. Randall might have been told humans weren't toxic, but I doubt very much he saw her little more than an animal. Sulley is guilty of this in the beginning, though he does catch on pretty quickly that she's quite like a monster kid, hell Wasoski is guilty of it much longer:
"See the stick? Go fetch the stick! Go fetch!"
Like Wasoski, Randall calls the kid 'it'
"I was up all night trying to find IT".
So yeah, Randall probably didn't see humans as sentients on level with monsters. He didn't really see him get a chance to do so like Sulley did and even Mike did in the end.
So that would explain why Randall didn't worry so much about this. Boo was a guinea pig to see if the thing was safe and he probably tried his best to make sure it was. Hence, how fungus reacted is probably different to what would have happened to her- since for instance, he doesn't have a nose to breath through and she does...
The machine hurting Boo would be detrimental to his interest if anything, even if he viewed her as an animal. He wants the machine to work after all.
Another disturbing thing: Waternoose seems to know humans have some sort of intelligence. In fact he 'over-estimates' it... he says Boo has 'Seen too much' to Sulley when at only 2, she'd hardly be a reliable witness.

Don't worry, mentalguru. I don't hate you for it. I DID, after all, ask for input. I'm working on it right now. I needed to make a few more minor changes, anyway.

While v3.3 is loading, I thought I'd say something that would make you feel better, mentalguru: you DID raise a valid point. It seems many people DO hate Randall mostly for using the machine on her. I even remember someone saying that Randall was taking everything out on her as if he was a child abuser!
Anyway, v3.3 is loaded now.

Alright, I looked over the latest video and...bare with me here, it is really early for me and I got lack of sleep as well thanks to this darned hot whether both me and Ran hate in terms of getting some rest...
Anyway.... Nice music...it's got a subtly like uhh...well like those uhh one commercials that pull at the heart strings. Like that uhh one "please pick a pet from the pound" sorta things.
As for info....lets see... For Randall being an orphan, you might want to emphasis on it. Saying that his parents weren't at the "Company Play" that Wazowski created. If he had parents, or ones that cared, wouldn't they show up to something that had SOME information about his wereabouts?
For the bit with Ran coming onto the floor to get Boo, when you start about him being forced into the project, should add that he wanted respect and admiration as WELL as to STOP the Scream Shortage, which would benefit everyone.
Another clip to add would be to say that Randall never inteded to kill Sullivan, in fact that he didn't even intend, once he got a high postion, to even fire him.
And lastly, for the cheating bit, you can add somewhere that since it IS a job, working overtime is actually ENCOURAGED, even more so with the Shortage about.
But other than that, good job...and the pacing of the vid great as well ^_^
