Yeah. Monstropolis, like most cities in the Human World, is still a long, long way from being free from racism. But if there is racism between different monsters, maybe at some point, like here, females were treated as 'below' males too? In the past?

....Monstropolis....has it's dark times... Women monsters at this time...had jobs similar to that of the World War, when women took manly jobs. But after, they took jobs like cloth designers, phone answers, and such like that....that time is about Monstropolis.

So really, Monstropolis and other cities like it really are just mimicking cities from the Human World- both worlds are practically the same, apart from its inhabitants, and the only difference THEY have is aesthetic. And, also, the fact that Monsters know of the portal between the two worlds, and Humans don't.

I don't even know that's I would consider aesthetics to be much of a difference, really. The city of Monstropolis is much CLEANER than most Human-world cities, though, so monsters much take such things as litter and pollution much more seriously than we do, and obviously are nowhere near as dependent on smelly, noxious and very expensive fossil fuels. Their buildings and such are bigger and somewhat odd-looking in order to accomodate a much more varied size range in occupants! Even the jazz posters in Mike and Sulley's apartment look much like promotional posters for that sort of music here in our country, with the exception that the subjects aren't humans. The portrait of Mr. Waternoose in the hallway at the factory was done in the same style as commissioned portraits are in many businesses in our world, so monsters at least look for the same things in art that most of us do.

Those are just some of the many parallel treats in the movie!
It seems it is a much "cleaner" city in more ways that one. It looked like the place you would want your little monster children growing up in. It appeared crime, drugs, etc. etc. would be generally low. For a very large city that is.

So, I presume that since the Monster World and the Human World are pretty much very similar, then in the Monster World, there is some kind of poverty issue in certain countries? And that they have suffered through some kind of World War, perhaps? I wonder what kind of weapons are used, since the fuel is different from what we have...

Well Pitbulllady.... That's becuase most monsters consider the refugee of the city to be good eats. That's why it's much cleaner. Well actually....you hardly see much of the city. And it's....dark sections... When Randall gets to a certain part in School Day's, I'd be able to post about it.
Well Cool. You should ask Red about that one... Should really start his fic soon...

Refugee? Don't you mean "refuse", another word for garbage or litter? A "refugee" is a person who is fleeing their homeland, usually due to a natural disaster or political pressure/war/genocide etc. I cannot imagine Randall eating garbage, except as an absolute last-ditch survival effort, just as a human would eat such things to stave off starvation if that's all that was available. SOME monsters might eat stuff like that, but it's really hard to picture Randall dumpster-diving. Even so, there has to be more to it than just monsters eating garbage(and if they did, it would BE garbage, would it?), since their behavior mirrors ours so closely, I'd expect them to have the same problem with laziness and just-don't-care attitudes, which is why so many humans litter. There is either a much greater sense of community pride in Monstropolis, or much tougher laws against littering, like in Singapore or somewhere like that. pitbulllady

Whoa whoa...I didn't mean RANDALL. Heck no...he hasn't done that for three years now.....
Well....there are SEVERAL regulations for Monsters Inc. They actually DON'T encourage employees NOT to eat the cafeteria "equipment". As you can imagine, there are SEVERAL monsters that enjoy garbage and thus keep the city clean, though they...really don't care....they just want the food heh ^_^
As for the laws....heh....oh nevermind...not yet heh heh.
