Awww *ç* found it on Tumbrl sciaenops:"look at how they’re shaking hands. randy’s using both hands, which is often a sign of someone who is a little too loving and a little too trusting. someone who loves getting and giving hugs freely. that is just too cute for words and it hurts because we know he’s going to become a kidnapper who wants to force the screams out of children’s lungs for fun and profit. dammit Pixar. you’re going to kill me. JUST PREMIRE ALREADY YA DAMN MOVIE." Attachments:

JUST PREMIRE ALREADY YA DAMN MOVIE." I've already seen that post on Tumblr. I agree with the first part, that Randall is by nature a very loving and kind individual, who is affectionate and willing to put others ahead of himself, which is what gets him into trouble in the first place. He allows himself to be manipulated and used by others, from ROR to Waternoose, because he is afraid to challenge them and risk alienating them, of being rejected, so he goes along with even things he KNOWS are wrong. I do NOT agree with that poster's calling Randall a "kidnapper", and I explained why on Tumblr. "Kidnapping" means taking a person-one of your OWN kind-against their will and holding them, for whatever reasons, without justification by law. Most people label Randall a "kidnapper" because of Boo, but fail to realize that Boo was NOT a "person" as such under Monster World law, but an animal, and a noxious, unpleasant animal at that. Taking a human child was not viewed as "kidnapping" under Monster law, but WAS seen as a threat to monsters, because of the presumed toxic nature of human children. Their laws were not put into place to protect human children from monsters, but to protect MONSTERS from human children! From a monster perspective, taking a human child away from its home and bringing it into the Monster World was no more "kidnapping" than for a human to capture a venomous snake and bring it into an area where keeping venomous snakes is illegal due to their perceived danger to humans. The only kidnapping of which Randall COULD be found guilty of was an accident, and that's when he unintentionally captured MIKE, mistaking him for Boo(shoulda kept your glasses, Randall), and even that only crossed the line into being a kidnapping when he refused to let Mike go, now that Mike already knew about the machine. pitbulllady

The first two pics are from the Leapfrog Learning Book(an "e" book designed for preschool children). They are pretty good, in that they capture Randall's insecure and nervous nature, although the artist gave him too many fingers there, lol. The third pic is one I posted to my Tumblr, and comes from the Essential Guide to Monsters University. It's from the scene in the movie where Mike first encounters Randall, in their dorm, right before Randall comes out into the hall to greet him so warmly. I posted it because of it's a pretty awesome pic, and because it vindicates that earlier pic I'd made back in 2005 of Randall entering a child's room to collect Scream energy, basically showing another view of that scene in the movie when he is seen leaping onto the door frame from the Scare Floor and just sorta rapidly "flowing" into the room along the wall. I'd envisioned Randall with light-reflecting eyes, like a cat or other nocturnal animal, but afterwards I sorta changed my mind about that due to the fact that Randall's eyes look more like HUMAN eyes, with a smaller iris and large schlera, or "white" of the eye, visible, and those aren't features of animals that can see well in the dark. I guess that Randall DOES have at least a rudimentary "tapetum", that reflective layer of cells in front of retinas, that trap and magnify light, though, giving him at least somewhat better night vision than we have, otherwise you would not see that greenish reflection when the light hits his eyes like that. Then again, he does also appear to possess forward-facing heat "pits" along the scales of his lower jaw, which could possibly give him some infrared sensing abilities, making up for his lack of visual acuity in the dark. pitbulllady
