Well, I'm just going to be straight up about this one, I'm not a fan of the Saw films, I've never seen them, nor do I understand them....never have and probably never will personally but when I heard that Chester from Linkin Park is going to be in the final Saw film...who knows, this might be the first Saw movie I watch but only because of who's in it....lol, wonder how many other LP fans like me are going to do the same thing. ;D
In case you guys don't know who Chester is, he's the guy they show in the junked up car in the trailer.

The first Saw film was actually a pretty great horror film. I can't say much for the rest, but I enjoyed the first three. After that, they're just a gore fest. Entertaining, but lacking the thing that made the first good. I might go see it, just for lulz. I'm not into Linkin Park, but I bet it will get a lot of fans interested in the series.

My brother said the same thing too but the thing is, I've seen a playthrough of a Saw videogame that was on PC and other consoles and according to the guy who did his let's play, he says that the main Saw guy does this stuff to teach people to appreciate their lives. Now, answer me this, how in the HELL is he teaching anybody that if over half of the time, the people die from these traps?! That makes no flipping sense to me at all! Like I said, I'll probably just go see this just to see Chester, that's it, I'm probably not going to see the rest because I can only handle horror to a certain extent, I do much better with horror videogames because in those, you aren't forced to see whatever play out, in games you have a weapon!

Jigsaw/Kramer suffered from cancer and a pretty screwed up personal life. Because he was dieing, it infuriated him that people have perfectly good lives, but threw them away. He pretty much targets people who don't appreciate their lives and puts them in a situation that, if they get out, will make them live their life to the fullest. A victim can escape the trap, but it all depends on their level of commitment to get out. He does not consider himself a murder because of this, and sides with the idea that the victims killed themselves. Makes for a very interesting antagonist.

Don't get me wrong, it really does but it seems more to me that the Saw films are a good demonstration of how people would act in a paniced situation or what they will do in order to escape but whether or not the victims he chooses ever actually decide that they'll live better from that moment on, I doubt if all of the victims that do survive do actually walk away thinking, "Wow, I almost died, from now on, I'm going to appreciate life during every minute that I'm alive." Like I said, I've never seen any of the films and my only knowledge of the films is just that game's let's play but whether or not Jigsaw sees himself as a murderer or better yet, an awful person doesn't change the fact that whether he sees it or not, he does end up being the cause of the ones who do die....besides, isn't Charles Manson the same way, he techinically didn't kill any person but is in jail because he did create followers who did it for him? It seems from what you've described of this Jigsaw character, he has blinded himself from seeing the reality in that he is at the very least partially responsible for the deaths of those who don't survive and while it is sad that this character has cancer, I'm afraid that his little traps and experiments just isn't enough to make me sypathize for him even a little. I've never quite understood those type of characters who decide to play God with people's lives. Also, I read from random Youtube comments that Jigsaw died around the fourth film, how are there still more movies if he's already dead? Now, either the creators of the Saw films did this purposefully or they never actually thought it would go this far and killed off their villian a littl too early.

I didn't say that Jigsaw was justified, I was just stating his views and why he thinks he's doing good. I think it makes for a more interesting horror villain than a random slasher and you do somewhat sympathize with him as the story goes on. Yeah, he dies in the third. Which is when it stopped being good. The creators couldn't resist not making more movies with all the money poring in. I didn't really pay attention to all the movies after the third, but there is a new Jigsaw, apprenticed under the original, who is continuing the work. The idea of an apprentice was brought into the second movie, after a former victim of Jigsaw started working with him, as she felt he renewed her life.

My brother told me something about him getting an apprentice but he told me that Jigsaw ended up punishing or getting rid of her because she would purposefully make the traps just to kill people, unless the apprentice you're speaking of is a completely different person....well, whatever these Saw films are about, I already told my brother about it and how I wouldn't mind seeing it in order to see Chester, he might go see it with me although more than likely, he'll drag his girlfriend along.

Yeah, that was Amanda and she was the definition of crazy b*tch. My personal least favorite character and the reason why I didn't really care for the second film.
I'd say it's worth a shot if you'd like a nice blood bath. Also good at Halloween.
