I really like the black-and-white photo, since it accentuates the shadows and the contrast so much better than the color one. MOST of the time, I prefer color, but there are times when black-and-white photography gives something to the subject, or rather, allows the subject's features to be displayed so much better or conveys a particular mood or tone in ways that color just can't. The air of "creepiness" and the macabre overtones show up so much better in the second photo. Two subjects that I have always found to be especially creepy or "dark", if you will, are broken dolls(so much that can symbolize) and abandoned churches. I recall a photo in a local newspaper not long ago, about illegal dumping in the woods, and there was a black-and-white photo of a nude, dirty doll lying on top of a heap of household garbage, and there was something about that image that was just gripping, even though the doll wasn't even specifically mentioned at all. A couple of decades ago, when I lived in another county, there was this old abandoned church, that was falling prey to nature, alongside a road I often drove, out in the middle of nowhere, and it just struck me as very eerie and almost sinister, especially around twilight.

I do like the black and white photo as well, that particular color scheme being one of my favorites to use in photography and I'm glad to know that it did add a creepy factor to it, that was a little of what I was going for with a mix of strange fascination as well.
