If fossil fuel is our equivalent of scream energy, what (if anything) could be our equivalent of laugh energy? My guess might be nanotech solar.

Hmmm... There's also all of those "green fuels" around - like with a few modifications to the car engine, it will run on cooking grease, of all things, and almost as well (I'm told). And since most restaurants just throw that stuff away, you can get "gas" really cheaply, or for free ("JUST TAKE IT AWAY!!!" - yeah, it's really distgusting -_-; ).

Hmm...Well, more wind turbines are being built, but they can be pretty ugly.

Hmm...Well, more wind turbines are being built, but they can be pretty ugly. They ARE ugly, and highly ineffective in areas like where I live, that have a lot of trees, not much open spaces, and often have days on end of dead-calm, hot weather. Brazil has gone almost entirely to using ethanol as fuel, and they make it from the bi-products of their massive sugar cane industry, so there is an almost unlimited supply. I know that there is research in the US into using it as well, from our agricultural waste, like corn stalks and soybean hulls. Any time you burn something, though, there's going to be a left-over chemical. Outdated laws against making "moonshine" whiskey, which is mostly ethanol, are also getting in the way of people being able to make their own fuel. pitbulllady

We actually use a lot of wind energy up here in Alberta (which in the central and south area of the province have very windy plains, and lots of countryside, so it all works out). Unfortunately, we're a very oil-rich province, and burning fossil fuels is how we get most of our electricity. -_-;
