*agrees* Lucky. Has there been any news as to who's responsible for the bombings, yet? Not really. There have been a few suspects, which usually lead back to Al Quaeda, but apart from that, not much.

I heard that there's a big possibility of Bin Laden being dead (he looked ill in one of his last released videos).

Has anyone watched the Patlabor movies? One move the main opposition did was send a "chemical-armed" blimp toward the city. Turns out it was only harmless gas in it's halls. But the effect of "panic" was the blimp's only agenda, and it was successful.

They've now discovered that the bombers are from Leeds in England. Great.

What every bomber wants to accomplish.....blow stuff up.
And I don't mean that in an ignorant way. Most of bombers in the war could be suiciders...

So... Who are they? And what were they hoping to accomplish? Basically, as far as we know, they just wanted to disrupt the peace. Sounds stupid, I know, but that was their general aim. They also wanted to reveal any weaknesses in the UK's security systems, I think.

I'm sorry, but, as you said, that is a very ignorant statement (both of 'em). Terrorists don't just want to destroy stuff and kill people - they mostly want attention drawn to their goals/beliefs, and show that they are serious. For example, the Al Quaeda (sp?), through the 9/11 and various other terrorist actions, wanted to slow/halt the encroachment of western values in the Middle-Eastern countries (several things that we consider perfectly acceptable over here in North America, for example, showing our bare arms by wearing T-shirts, are against the main religion/traditional values, over there). They had complained to the UN (and were ignored), so they had to draw attention to their cause. Unfortunately for them, by attacking the World Trade Center, they painted themselves villains, and made the world sympathetic to the Americans. They say that Bin Laden hates Americans - that's not neccessarily true. He hates some of the ideals of Americans, and perhaps their system of Government, but I seriously doubt he hates every single little thing about America just because it's American. ...Well, that's my little social studies spiel.

Well actually yes they do. Sometimes bombers, even suicide bombers, can just blow something up. This results in a fear installment of the people. And if something like 9-11, installs several....well....shaken beliefs that were once solid about the government's way of safety...

Yeah, but they always have some sort of a REASON to blow things up.
