Technically, since reptiles are NOT a "race"(that only applies to humans or to comparable sentient beings), you can't call someone "racist" for hating/fearing an animal-STUPID, but not racist. It does, however, promote the notion that snakes are all dangerous, scary things that are out to get us, which certainly does not help those of us like myself who have spent much of our lives trying to convince people otherwise. People find it much easier to believe crap like this movie, or "Anaconda", than to believe the truth.

Well to ME I DO consider it racist.
To add to that, and this IS a true story. In some town, forgot the name, during a showing of this film some IDIOT RELASED REAL SNAKES....INTO THE THEATRE!

The movie does look increadably stupid, but then, I haven't seen a good horror film since The Stand. And that didn't even scare me (the concept did though!!!)

To me, "Snakes on a Plane" looks like a movie to prove all snakes are dangerous and evil, which they are NOT! Hey, I have picked up a few snakes in my backyard when I found them and they had never bitten me! Although one did kinda spewed this bile thing on me, but I'm okay.

talk2spooky's right about the whole "no good horror movie", but Silent Hill and Pulse are good horror movies. Though more of mystery and suspense, they are good.
This movie sounds and looks stupid. I wouldn't even pay a dollar to see this. The title makes me laugh and I just have to make fun of it. I can already predict what happens, anyway. =P

Gah, I'm not going to pass judgement on a movie I've never seen (but from what I have seen, not good). The only thing of note about that movie is the movie posters - can you say caduceus? And a perverted one at that - caduceuses (caducei?) are supposed to represent homeopathic medicine (which is a positive thing), but... looks like they've twisted it into a negative symbol. Now, of course, when people will walk into their doctor's offices they'll point and go "OMG snakes on a plane" instead of associating it with healing and stuff. >_<

Once AGAIN, reptiles are NOT a "race"-a "race" designates a group of HUMANS which have physical attributes that set them apart. Reptiles are a scientific GROUP of the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata. I can assure you that no one on this board knows, understands or appreciates reptiles, especially snakes, more than I do, but to equate them with any race of humans is ludicrous. If you are basing your assumption of snakes being a "race", Sean, on your fondness of Randall, think again. Randall may share some physical traits, mostly in terms of appearance, with reptiles, but as I have pointed out many, many times, he is NOT a reptile, any more we are! He probably IS of a race of MONSTERS, which are clearly unique in the Monster World, but then monsters are every bit as much "people" as we are, with complex language, culture, society, scientific advancements, self-awareness, complex cognitive processes, moral apptitude, even a concept of life after death. I've lived with snakes all my life, and I can tell you that they do not possess any of those features. This does not excuse treating them cruelly or continuing to promote the notion that they, or any other animals, are evil and dangerous by default, but to do so still does not constitude "racism".
Yes, "Snakes On a Plane" is a stupid movie, intended for ONE purpose-to scare people by taking advantage of a fear that many people have. BUT it is not a "racist" movie, unless it portrays any particular group of humans as bad based on their belonging to a particular race of people.
