Just something I should say. Fur-free Friday happens on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It is where every year on the day after Thanksgiving for the last two decades, thousands of people around the U.S. have held demonstrations, marches and other activities for Fur Free Friday to protest a global multi-billion dollar industry that kills over 40 million animals annually.

I always know it as Black Friday... Black Friday? What's that a reference to? The only Black Friday I know of is the anniversary of that huge tornado that tore through Alberta a few decades ago, but somehow I suspect that's not what you're speaking of.

I always know it as Black Friday... Black Friday? What's that a reference to? The only Black Friday I know of is the anniversary of that huge tornado that tore through Alberta a few decades ago, but somehow I suspect that's not what you're speaking of. The whole "Black Friday" is something new, referring to the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US, which is supposed to be the biggest retail sales day nation-wide, for the entire year. It got that name because this is a day that all retailers hope to come up "in the black", in other words, showing a large profit. Many pull out all the stops when it comes to pulling in customers and making sales, like slashing prices and offering once-a-year items. Shoppers have been known to actually camp outside in parking lots, like concert-goers trying to get the best seats, in order to rush inside when the doors open so they can hook the best deals. The internet shopping trend has really hurt the retail stores, though. You could not make me, under threat of death, go shopping on Black Friday. People have been known to get crushed in the surge to get inside stores, and fights are common, along with pick-pockets and muggings in parking lots. NO thanks to THAT! pitbulllady
