*wiggles eyebrows* ;D
Anyway, seriously, do you guys support fake or real Christmas trees? Because I heard about these people who are protesting against fake trees because of the fact that they use up the earth's natural resources and create pollution, but with real trees, you have to chop them down and stuff. We have a fake fibre optic Christmas tree, what about you? ;D

99% of real Christmas trees in the US are farmed trees, grown on Christmas tree farms specifically for that purpose. They are constantly being replaced by new trees. This is a part of agriculture, like any crop, and in most cases the trees grown are not even native to the areas where the farms are located. Therefore, harvesting these trees does not deplete any natural population. Most people who choose real Christmas trees have never had to use an ax or saw; they just go and purchase the tree, already cut, from any retail outlet, or directly from the farm itself. The operators of the tree farm will cut it for them using a machine that just clips the trunk right through like a giant pair of shears. I guess that in some really remote and rustic places(and they'd have to be REALLY remote to be more remote and rustic than where I live), there are people who actually still go out into the woods and cut down a tree, but this would be pretty rare.

Ever since I was little, we went out several weeks before Christmas to get a real tree. We didn't go to grocery store lots, though; for several years we went out to this place in the country that grew real trees for this purpose, and they'd give you a saw and a tobaggan (which us three children would ride while looking for a tree), then cut it down, and use the tobaggan to drag it back. Then the nice people who ran the lot would give us each a cup of hot chocolate while dad bought the tree and tied it to our car roof. However, that lot closed like two years ago and we've had a fake tree ever since. I don't like it very much. It's just not the same. I don't feel guilty about cutting down a single tree each year, as I recycle for the rest of the year - why can't I just have one tree?

Yeah, I prefer real trees too, and the whole sort of 'farming' of these trees means that it isn't decreasing the population of the trees themselves anyway. And they smell nice, too. ;D

Well, my family had a fake tree ever since I was like...three, and I have to admit, it is real easy to set it up. But I suppose real trees are easy to set up to some people.

I remember a few years ago, we had this other fake tree but it had to be put together branch by branch. Each branch had a coloured label, and each layer of the truck of the tree had a colour so we attached it like that, but it would take hours.

I definitely support fake ones. It helps all of our live trees live longer, thus keeping the planet and everyone on it alive longer.
