Yeah, there are a LOT of new "Incredibles" fics up on FF.net, most of 'em(not surprisingly)centered around a certain redhead, LOL! I guess there were a lot of people who didn't get to see it in theaters, who had to wait until they got the DVD to get "bitten" by the "bug". I am a bit surprised at the number of Buddy/Violet fics showing up-not really bothered by it, since most of 'em DO at least have their stories taking place a few years after the movie, when she would at least be of the age of consent, but it's still a bit odd. I guess I'm more of a Buddy/Mirage 'shipper-those two just really seem made for each other. One thing is for certain; Sean's prediction that Buddy was going to be the most popular character from the movie, villain or not, has turned out to be one heck of an understatement! You don't see many fics which feature him as a straight-up evil guy, either, but most really show him at least trying to change, which is good.

;D I looked at the Incredibles section on FF.net recently, too. [It always picks up right when the movie comes out on DVD, I guess either because they never saw it before or now that they own it, they can watch it several times and get new ideas or notice new things.] I noticed that a *lot* has been focused on Violet, too. And of course Buddy boy. I'm not surprised. Violet/Buddy is a rather....interesting pairing. Interesting, but I think Mirage/Buddy is /much/ more so. Glad most people are sympathetic towards him. He's so darn likable!! If only it were the same with Randall...^^

The only difference is Buddy's human.....
Pitbulllady....all most people see for Randall is a creature in scales.....just scales....

You gotta really good point, there, Sean. Even though Buddy did some awful things, on his own free will, mind you(unlike Randall who basically had little say-so in the matter), more people really like him and sympathize with him. I guess it's partly because we get to actually SEE the incident that set him off, and to "feel" his pain of rejection as a little kid, whereas we don't learn of Randall's background, and can only speculate that it wasn't too nice. Also, as you pointed out, Buddy is HUMAN, NOT a scaly creature with a mouthful of razor-sharp carnivore teeth, AND even at his worst, he still has this little-kid air of almost-innocence about him, almost like he really DOESN'T understand that what he is doing is wrong and bad! I know from reading posts on other boards that a lot of people really started to like him when they saw him sans mask in "Jack-Jack Attack" because he just looks so young and unsure of himself when confronted by this metal-mouth, zombie-fied wild chick who was practically throwing a baby at him! THAT was obviously NOT what he expected to find at that house!
Man, how I'd love to see Mike Wazowski show up one night in Jack-Jack's room-it just brings a smile to my face to imagine Wazowski's reaction to seeing this kid suddenly burst into flames, and seeing Wazowski dodging lasers, and seeing Jack-Jack go into that demon morph and attacking the One-Eyed Wonder....just hope Randall could be there to see it, too!

Blast them.... They never gave humans the chance to meet Monsters.....they just kept on with their grudges and their own superiority....
Hmm?
Sorry...just...thinking...

Violet and Buddy...? Well...it seems a little strange to me, since I would've thought Violet would think of Buddy as just 'another one of those bad guys', but perhaps if she got to know him...Violet is by far my favourite character in the family of Incredibles, but I too much prefer the pairing of Buddy and Mirage. ;D

Buddy and Mira have the most going for them, I think, and a history, and a *lot* of drama now--heh heh. Vi is my favorite "Incredible," too.

"A Lot of Drama", huh? How'd you like to be a fly on the wall during one of THEIR little "lovers' quarrels"? THAT should prove rather interesting, to say the least! You're right, though, they DO have a history together, so they would already know each other about as much as anyone could know someone else. I don't find the notion of Violet being attracted to Buddy as odd as it would be the other way around. It's not uncommon for teen girls to find older guys attractive, and you know it's not that uncommon for many to have this fascination with "bad boys", either. Besides, Buddy could easily pass, on the streets, for someone 10 years younger than he really is(be he'd get "carded" every time he tried to buy anything with alchohol in it-"Sure, you're 26-and I'm really Jennifer Lopez; this convenience store is just my weekend gig")! With Buddy, though, he would be more likely to want someone at least his own age, probably a little bit older, since he has that "little kid" insecure-I-need-a-surrogate-mama groove going. Believe me, a LOT of guys are like that, too.
By the way, Mirage, where did you get your avatar(I can't help but laugh every time I see it-that scene was sooo darn funny)? I coulda SWORN Buddy had his mask on in that scene, but I guess I'll have to go back and watch it again to be sure!

Oh, definitely--'lots of drama' would be an understatement during one of their fights! *.*
And I can identify with Violet if she's attracted to older guys and 'bad boys,' that's for sure! But I agree that Buddy might need someone a tad more..ehhh...mature, than he is, to look to sometimes? Yeah...
But yes, the avatar...I thought I needed a new one. I screencapped the Incredi-blunders as well as the film itself, so I just editted this scene and made a little icon out of it. ^^ Nope, no mask there--just those nice faces and that not-yet-animated hair! ;D
