Alright! Next chapter is up! This one involves the relic's appearence (pic at the bottom) as well as the appearence of the "Bad guys". Also, there's a slight emotional scene between Ty and Buzz. OH! And don't worry, Randall's comin in at the end ^_^ Enjoy.
Chapter 3 The Relic At first, it looked like a rock. But it just didn’t look normal. It’s formation was made out of long strips, beginning at the base and tip. Several stripes were long, others branching off into more. Some small, some wide. Inside, it looked hollow, as they could see inside it. “Is that it Buzz?” Ty asked, wanting a second opinion. “Yes this is it…but what it is…I can’t tell…” Buzz replied, his confusion overtaking his voice. “Hmm…lets get it back to Star Command….they’ll handle it for now…” he added. Ty went back to the controls, increasing the hydraulics of the DIG to lift them out of the hole. * Location: Crater Time: 8:53 P.M.
Ty set the auto tracker so the DIG hovered it’s way back to the ship on it’s own. He starred at the machine’s consol, looking over the scene. For a moment, he felt a bad omen overtake him. He took a glance back at Buzz, noticing the ranger sitting on the edge of the DIG, the relic in his hands. He started over. “You ok Buzz?” he asked, hardly ever seeing his friend down. Buzz didn’t look up at his companion, just looking down at the relic in his hands, the orb’s edges brushing against his suit. Ty could tell he was in some sort of deep thought. “Yeah I’m fine….just….thinking”. Ty said beside him. “About?”. “Just a few things it’s not important….”. “Ranger Rule # 26….be honest….” Ty quoted. Buzz smirked. Ty was indeed one who knew the rules, also how to justify their use. “So come on what’s wrong Buzz?” Ty asked again, more directly. Buzz sighed, looking out at the slowly passing landscape. “I guess….perhaps Old Earth has it’s affect on a person…” he started. Ty knew what he meant, but Buzz continued his explanation. “Maybe it’s the cold atmosphere or the barren wasteland….I guess it does feel like….I guess I worry that….if I wasn’t around perhaps all this….” Buzz started again, spreading out a hand to direct the landscape. “Might be what Star Command and Capital Planet will become…”. A moment passed by. Ty was seeing the thoughtfulness in Buzz’s words. He had never been to Old Earth before. It’s affect in him was probably the first. It was like seeing the old quarters you use to be in before rising through ranks. “Ty….I’d….appreciate if you don’t mention this to the team….they….look up to me you know…” Buzz asked. Ty nodded. “Sure Buzz….promise”. The glint of heroicness in Buzz’s eyes came back. “Alright then….” He started, holding up the orb above him with his left hand. “Lets get this back to Star Co…” he started. (BRRSSSHHH!!!) A disrupter blast of red and orange neon blew into the orb relic, knocking it far from Buzz’s hand. “Get down!”. Buzz back rolled, falling behind the DIG as a disrupter blast flew overhead. Ty got up and ran, hitting the stop switch for the machine, forgetting the force shield. It halted it’s movement as he dropped behind Buzz, getting out his blaster, Buzz already having his drawn. They were covered by the massive iron, photon drill, unable to see what it was that had stopped firing, but Buzz knew. “Combat Grubs..” Buzz whispered, directly to TY. “How can you tell…”. “I saw one”. Ty thought for a moment. Grubs meant only one thing. They were servants of Buzz and Star Command’s sworn enemy…. “How did Zurg find us?!”. “Probably been watching the planet for a long time…” Buzz yelled. He lifted himself, taking only but a second to look before firing and ducking down, another blast going overhead. His vision turned to the drop zone where the relic had fallen. “Craters…”. Ty looked over, seeing a few grubs head toward the fallen object. Buzz turned back to TY, a discrete look on his face. “We can’t let them take it so easily if at all…cover me!” he said. Ty thought he could go and get it…then again…Buzz wasn’t the “covering” type. With a nod from Ty, Buzz turned and ran. Ty glanced over to his right, seeing nearly twelve Combat Grubs coming for them. He didn’t take several glances to get a description, as he knew already what they looked like. Ty did a dodge as he blasted a few behind and over him. Buzz was ahead, running between ragged spires, being careful not to rip his suit, and blasting the few Grubs near the relic. He help up his blaster, shooting the unsuspecting creatures backward into another spire. He reached over to grab the relic, seeing Ty stop between two spires, firing at the Grubs to the north. As soon as Buzz picked the orb up, another hand grasped it from the other side. It wasn’t a Grub. MUCH too tall. It was a hand. Fingers of metal, a long dark outstretched hand. It led to a long, purple body, guarded by a black cape. A large Z emblem fitted around his neck, the lock for the cape. The face was even more lifeless. A screen white mouth, clear, flashing like a machine’s, it’s eyes yellow with the hidden intensity of red.

“Well….I must admit I’m glad you came….home Lighyear…” it said, the lord’s robotic, echoing voice announced. Buzz knew….who it was. The scorn. The virus. The dark lord that came from the farthest reaches of the galaxy. The lord of Planet Z. The man, or something….destined to have a life of taking control of universes and other planets that choked under his grip. The one responsible for most, but to Buzz, all, of the galaxy’s problems. Not to mention…Buzz’z nemesis…..Zurg. “Seems the planet wasn’t keen on inviting you either Zurg…” Buzz commented, gripping the orb with both hands. “You should know very well the lord of the galazy shouldn’t nee invitations…” Zurg replied, gripping the relic with a hand. “Zurg….thought you’d be…ehh….enslaving a helpless planet….” Buzz called back, pulling harder. “So many planets….so much time…” Zurg replied, pulling harder. Meanwhile, Ty had been busy with the Grubs. They seemed to be distracting him, as their shots didn’t seem to get anywhere near him. When a blast went by his left side, he turned, seeing what he forgot to look at. Zurg and Buzz were grappling for the orb. He sighted something else, a Grub coming behind Buzz. In an instant, Ty fired at it. The sudden blast from behind made Buzz lose his grip. Zurg pulled back, making Buzz fall backward, but catch himself, Zurg now with the relic in his hand. Zurg laughed, seeing his fallen adversary. “HA! Do not worry….as soon as I find it’s destructive power…you’ll see it again Lightyear….” Zurg laughed, his mouth flickering with light. “Not today Zurg!” Buzz announced. He tagged a blue switch on his right leg of his suit, making the side extend slightly. A long cylinder metal device was inside. Buzz pulled it out into his right hand, the leg retracting. He threw his hand outward, the cylinder’s end extending into a baton like item. On instant, a green neon field wrapped around it. A photon sword. Standard issue. No lethal quality with the neon….but it’s shocks were good enough. Buzz went over, aiming for Zurg’s arm. “ARRGGHH!!”. Zurg moved back, dropping the relic a few feet away. The lord clutched his hand, seeing that it was a shock. “Err…very well…I was thinking of just hitting you on a few spires or something….but now”. Zurg rose his left arm. A very powerful Ion Blaster. Zurg blasted, Buzz dodging to the side as a small heat patch was made into where he had stood before. Ty watched as Buzz too on Zurg alone, like he always did. Ty had wanted to help, but he had to keep the Grubs occupied. But he also knew Zurg was a dangerous one to fight with. Reeling through decisions, Ty cam to a conclusion. Zurg wanted the relic. He could get it and Buzz back to the ship and they could leave for Star Command, Zurg couldn’t take on Capital Planet and Star Command without some plot. It was their original plan after all. Ty looked back, taking a few shots at the Grubs before running over. Buzz rolled past a spire as it exploded, then another one, then another. He got behind a large ragged cylinder rock formation, breathing hard. A blast hit on the left, taking a chunk out of the rock, another on the right. It was then Buzz realized the formation had gotten thin. He could see Zurg pointing his blaster at him. (BRRRKKK) “Huh?”. Zurg looked over his blaster. Empty. “Empty!? I put one hundred Krillions into it!” he complained. Buzz smirked, heading over. “Ha!”. Buzz brought down the sword, but it was blocked by Zurg’s Ion Blaster. The ranger kept pushing the blade down as Zurg pushed up. While Buzz did this, he noticed Ty come over. He snatched the fallen relic into his hands, shifting his blaster to his side pocket. He held it in his hands firmly to make sure Buzz saw him. Buzz only took a glance and went back to Zurg. Ty was confused. All Buzz seemed to care about was Zurg. It wasn’t the mission. It was Zurg. It’s always Zurg. Whenever Buzz got the chance to finish Zurg, he took it. Ty’s fingers grappled around the relic in his hands tightly. He was instantly reminded of Buzz’s nature. Buzz Lightyear was always the hero. He wanted to take care of Zurg alone to prove that. No one else seemed to get credit, especially him. Ty sighed deeply, seeming oblivious to anything else. All he ever wanted was to be recognized. Even now. They could just leave, but no. Buzz wanted to stay and finish off Zurg, not caring that Ty wanted to finish their mission. What would Nebula think? Ty wished that he could just tell someone how he felt, that he could confide to. He let all the memories and emotions pile in. For a second, he felt it down his head, going through his neck and into his stomach….then his arms…then….he felt like….they were just in his finger tips. Ty looked down. “Wha?!”. Ty jerked his arms forward, getting Buzz and Zurg’s attention all at once. The relic’s hollow inside was now becoming a surge of blue and white light of intensity. Ty shield his eyes from the bright light, quickly noticing the relic floating in mid-air, spinning around. “What?” Zurg questioned. “Ty what happened!” Buzz yelled over. “Arrgh!”. Ty backed up as the bright light became too intense. Buzz held up his sword to protect his eyes, Zurg backing up and looking away as the light blinded everything around……

* Location: Louisiana Swamps Time: 9:05 a.m. 2004 Randall didn’t know what happened, or why he was still alive. But for some reason, the water around didn’t both him….he was warm. His body felt lifeless but he knew it was there. It was like being in the air with nothing to hold you down. His hands swung at the mercy of the invisible current. His feet dangled down with nothing to grapple onto. His tail swung idly as if it’s owner no longer had command. His neck had failed, and had it’s upper part, his head, down. His fronds moved much to the locomotion of his hands, though more against it. His mouth was shut, as were his eyes. Not seeing death might help him…. But something made Randall wake up…. (GLUG) He opened his mouth, several bubbles escaping his mouth as his eyes opened, stung by the water at first. He was under it. Not too deep though. His eyes cracked open and looked to the surface of where he had claimed to be his deathbed. But something was going on. Through the water, he could see bright lights bursting in and out over the water. Something was happening out there. Randall knew death could wait, it seemed to have for him now…<br>He felt his lungs starting to fill, he had to hurry. Kicking his sore feet and busted up arms, he swam his best to the surface. His head popped up, being thrown backward to take in a grasping bit of air as drops drizzled down his scales. When his head came back down, he couldn’t believe what he saw…. The Relic:

YES! I finally got a new chapter on! Yay! This chapter mainly focuses on Randall getting the Relic and everyone going after him. Enjoy! ^_^
Chapter 4 The Threads of Fate Randall’s emerald eyes grew wide, nearly sending a surge of pain from the cuts he had on his lids. On the solid, or at least….close to solid, clearing near the lake….something was forming. It looked like a huge circular mirror or something, it’s middle inside flashing through arrays of colors in several seconds. Randall thought it looked almost like his scale pattern, flickering from color to color, but this was too fast. He recalled sci-fi movies that would commonly call it a portal. But…then again. “(Oh jeez…..I’ve gone off the deep end!)” Randall yelled in thought. He knew that the water here had to have something in it. He was hallucinating, going mad. Randall knew he was still young, but imagining things to this degree wouldn’t be possible for several years! Randall stayed where he was, kicking his sore feet and waving his arms to keep up from going back down into the swamp water. He didn’t want to move close to what it was. It could be a mirage of something horrible. He moved his hands slowly, not wanting to splash to alert anything. He felt a few fish pass by his tail, making an almost tickle sensation, making him jerk slightly. The portal, or whatever it was, stayed at it’s position. Nearly as wide as the trailer he had been thrown into and as tall as the trailer’s length. It emitted a vibrating like sound. Like a high pitch pulse. The portal had a border. A purple, almost bar-like, boarder that went around the color changing substance. It branched off with spikes like a vine. He guessed the color substance was some kind of water, as it was waving around like it. Randall felt another fish brush against his tail, getting him to look down in the murky water. “(Stop it will ya!)” he yelled in thought, knowing speech wouldn’t work. (Tsshh) He looked back up at the portal. Some was on it’s top, the uppermost part of the border around it. It looked like a protruding spike. Something was growing on it. A drop of something, water he thought. It was like a crevice in a leave after it rained. The drop grew as bits of the substance grouped. Then suddenly it fell. And, like a tear dropping into the water, it’s sound being amplified a hundred times, it fell into the watery substance. Randall turned away just as a bright light shot out. He felt himself being pushed backward by it. He fell back into the water, falling downward on his back, falling slowly with blinded eyes…. * Ty was still standing, his eyes now able to see. Everyone except the Grubs, which seemed to be somewhere, was in the same place. He found the relic sitting upright in front of his feet. Buzz and Zurg were in front of him. Only one thing was different. The scenery wasn’t Old Earth. Ty took a moment, as did Buzz and Zurg. It wasn’t Old Earth. The ground was mossy like a forest’s. There were trees. Damp trees with few leaves. The sky was dark with clouds, a single moon piercing through it. Creatures cricketed and the slush of water were heard. Another creature howled in the distance. Where were they? Buzz had the same feelings. They were somewhere else….but….why did it STILL feel like Earth? Zurg took the least time. He saw the deep thought Buzz and Ty was in and took the initiative. He jammed his Ion Blaster into Buzz’s chest, knocking the ranger far back into a tree. Zurg turned and eyed on Ty and the relic and instantly went over. Ty knew what he was thinking and grabbed it. Zurg out stretched a hand and grabbed it as well. “Give it! It’s mine!” Zurg yelled. “No way!” Ty shot back. “Give me!”. “No!”. They each took turns pulling back and forth, which soon became side to side swings of the arms. Buzz noticed his companion with Zurg, instantly shooting his eyes open. “Ty no! Get away from him!” he yelled, getting to his feet. “Huh?”. Ty lost grip, yet again making Zurg get the relic. Ty took the few split seconds to shove his left arm into Zurg’s chest. The force was enough to let Zurg lose his own grip. The relic flew outward, landing into the murky lake they had found themselves beside. * Randall found himself falling. His limbs failed him for now. The pain he felt in his eyes was enough. That bright light felt like it sucked the strength right out of him. He didn’t look directly at the light, so he felt he could take it in. He focused for a moment. He couldn’t die with a question like what that thing was. He forced himself to try at least one last thing. His hands started grappling, forming fists, the water around his arms swishing, showing they were shaking. His mouth had opened, his teeth clenched. In an instant, his eyes shot open. The water surface was vibrating. The light was gone. All that was left was the dark. But Randall could tell something darker was coming. He head a splash, a low pitched splash, as he was already in the water. Several bubbles and white water drifted to the surface as their creator fell. Something darker, a shape was falling down to him. Randall stayed where he was. His falling didn’t seem to matter, as he seemed to be staying right where he was as the object in front came closer, casting a shadow reflection on his chest scales along with the slight ripples of the water. Breathing for the moment didn’t matter, he felt like he was breathing… It came close, letting Randall’s hands grasp it. It looked like an orb, but Randall could see through parts of it. Whatever it was, he knew he never saw anything like it before. It seemed to be important, but Randall couldn’t tell why. (BRSSSHH) A green line went over the surface of the lake, snapping Randall back into reality. His breath came back, the lack of it. He took a firm grip on the object in his hands and used it like an oar to help his feet get him to the surface. When his head burst through the layer of the surface, he took in a few quick breaths, throwing back his fronds with a spare upper hand and looking around. His first vision shocked him. There were humans…..weird ones. Two clad in suits of some sort, like space men. The other was tall and in some sort of purple shiny uniform. Randall barely had enough time to look….. * Zurg turned his head to the lake. He saw something, something he had never seen in his years of capturing planets poke it’s head above the surface of the water. His first thought was this gave him a reason to take over this world, but when the relic bubbled up beside the creature, seeming to be almost like a shipwreck piece, was all he needed. “Grubs! Grab that creature!” Zurg yelled, turning back to Ty. One the other side of the lake, Zurg’s minions came to the mud drenched edge. They were strange creatures. Blue, almost bug sized, creatures. Large black colored eyes and two feelers with pink colorization. Originally, their Zurg’s workers. But some were trained for combat. They each held a Pulzar Cannon, long, almost rifle like guns that were nearly as long as they were tall. They were slow, but had already advanced to the lake’s edge at their lord’s call. * Randall looked back, instantly spotting what the unusual human was calling out for. He looked to see bug like creatures raising some sort of weapon at him. Randall’s heart was racing. They intended to kill him. At first, Randall had wanted to die…but not by someone else. “Gah!”. He dove back into the water for a third time as a line similar to the green one passed over the water’s surface. Randall felt the adrenaline that had been his prime source of energy kick in. He got as deep as he could to avoid the beams, keeping the strange object in his hands. * The Grubs realized their shots were not doing anything. One turned a switch on his rifle, and fired at the water. The beam wasn’t a quick burst. It was a steady red beam. The water around it’s piercing point of the surface began to turn a mushy red color. The other Grubs followed. * Randall kept swimming to the nearest plot of land away from both sides. But suddenly, he found the water growing to a slightly more red hue. He could tell this, having a vision of green hue. “(Huh?)” he thought. He looked back to where those creatures had fired from. The water at the edge was growing a distinct red. “(What in the…ow….ow! Hey what in the?!)”. He soon found out his body was getting itchy and hot. The water was getting hotter, he could feel it on his bare scales. He felt the veins that his scars passed by made the flow of his cells grow ever faster. It felt like several bubbles of pain were bursting out of every scale on his body. He had to get out. “(OW! EHH….Come on!)”. He kicked furiously, going fast with the orb oar like a digging tool. “(Ow! Jeez…ahh….)”. His vision in front of him went blurry, but for the touch of luck that he thought never existed….there was edge…. Randall dug the orb into the muddy edge for leverage, pulling himself to shore. He crawled up the wet dirt and onto solid ground, getting up, but losing his steady pace, having been exhausted. He didn’t call himself a swimmer, he didn’t like it, but had to adapt to it here. Even so, he wasn’t that easy to take it in. He hit his upper back and neck against a tree, his body half dry and wet. He held the object that helped him close, breathing rapidly with closed eyes. Whatever was attacking him didn’t know where he went….but….
