Hello all you happy people. Hopefully nobody minds that I start something else aroung here. I'm very looking forward to seeing Star Wars: Episode 3 coming out this May. It would be very interesting to see how the story... (should I say "ends" or what?) ... anyway, I thought that maybe I would like to try and start a little conversation. I've noticed that the Originial Triliogy seems to be a lot better than the "prequel" triliogy, and I've been thinking... how so? I have a few ideas of my own, but please feel free to add your own.

The thing that really knocked the prequel trilogy behind the original for me was that...well, I'm no official on the subject, but it really seems as if the originals were put out without all the pomp, you know what I mean? Han hitting the Falcon to make it work, the campy backgrounds, etc---it all felt more real because it wasn't overbearing. With the newer movies, however, it's like they've totally forgotten that dude, this is entertainment. That really disappointed me. But, hey, I might be wrong.

You're referring to the Computer Special Effects that the prequels have, right?
You do have a point there. I will admit that the prequels have tons of special effects according to our day. Not that the originals are bad at all. Back in their day, it was legend, and still is in my opinion, but the original had something that the prequels don't seem to have.
As well as the special effects, the original had a good story. The timing, the events, and the humor of some moments helped the original feel real, which made its special effects feel real, which tended to make the movie feel real. What impressed me the most is that the story and the special effects seemed to balance each other out better than the prequels.
With the sequels, the story is there, but there are times when I feel that the special effects of the movie seem to overpower the storyline. There are moments in the movie where the story stops and the effects take full effect. (Episode II: Obi-Wan vs. Jango Fett for example.) That's good and all, but in my opinion, a special effects scene with no story will make an awsome screensaver.
... Come to think about the prequel storyline, somehow the turning towards the dark side thing seems lees inspiring than the original trilogy.

I like sci-fi films, but Star Trek and Star Wars...well, whenever someone from Star Trek comes on with a growth on their head, I can't take the whole thing seriously. ;D

Well, I managed to see the newest Star Wars Episode 3 trailer, and I thought it was well done. I did, however, seemed to react to the negative tone of the movie. (Then again, what would I expect, it is anakin turning to darth vader after all.)
A little later on, I heard that Episode 3 will likely by PG-13, and I thought, from what the trailer showed me, is kinda justified, even if it is a little weird, being all the other Star Wars movies were rated PG.
... oh, and one more thing, I've heard that the new trailer will be shown with the movie 'Robots'. If you see the trailer, I'd welcome any comments you'd like to share.

Well, I managed to buy a book on Star Wars, Episode III, the novel.
It felt great to be reading the story. It was a lot of fun.
I can pretty much garentee movie-goers quite a good ride.
