OMG I saw War of the Worlds last night and it's one of the best movies EVER!!! It was so scary and all of the machines and tripods and everything looked so real, and the three main characters were all acted out so well! The cinema was COMPLETELY packed out, and no wonder- this film's been getting some really good publicity. There's some moments in it of utter desolation, and seeing massive cities destroyed and sprayed with human blood...incredible.
The only thing I would have to say about this film that disappointed me was that it didn't really seem...complete.There was no big comeback of the humans- the aliens died because they couldn't handle the earth's atmosphere- and we only saw a couple of tripods go down anyway. For all we know, the aliens could've learnt to adapt to the conditions- it just wasn't complete. But, apart from that, this is one of the best films I've seen in ages!
And, what's more, before it there was a trailer for The Island with loads of Steve in it, and all I can say is he looks great with glasses. ;D

I've read the book and that was pretty much as far as my interest went. lol. I don't know. I guess it's just not "my type" of movie, so I probably won't see it myself. I love Wells' books, though. They're pretty good.

I may see it when I am incredibly bored. I may just read the book first.
However, Tom Cruise has be absolutely furious. This whole creepy Scientology proselitizing thing has me up the wall. He has no right to claim that chemical imbalances in the brain are non-existant when it has been scientifically proven that they do exist. Just because he is a celebrity, he is not an expert in Psychology, Philosophy, or sanity for that matter. My brother is Autistic, and when he does not have his medication, he is miserable, prone to panic attacks and violently lashing out. I wish Tom Cruise would for a week live with somebody with a mental disability and see how difficult it is. Hehe, enough said.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I've never read the books, though I have heard about half of it on tapes a couple of years ago. And yep, I really did enjoy the film. ;D
