I REALLY want to see this film, and I probably will with a bunch of friends, since they're all Johnny Depp fans. ;D It does look very good, though I've seen a preview of the game which is pathetic compared to the actual movie.

The brother and I saw this yesterday at last. I have to say I was very impressed, and I was all set to dislike the movie. The Wonka in this version isn't the one in the old movie, certainly; though it also wasn't the one in the book. It was an all-new version, and I liked it very much. I was suitably impressed as well that they kept the whole tribal background for the Oompa-Loompas - my bro suggested that they may leave that out to avoid racial issues but they didn't; the the OL's songs even sounded (though they had obvious, differing musical themes) still tribal in their roots. I think I'm going to get the cd, though mostly for the score. I liked too the few changes they made with the children; though I do agree with a local reviewer who said that Charlie's character was a little bland for being 100% good. Violet's "competetor" attitude was very interesting and I LOVED that they made Mike a math/probablity/whatever-whiz instead of just a tv-watching vegetable. The child actors were all great (and the boy playing Augustus is, imho, a fine-looking boy despite his weight). And, Grandma Georgina made my day. The ending disappointing me a little though - I was hoping they'd do something, if not exactly like the book, at least something that would suggest a sequel. The day The Great Glass Elevator becomes a movie would be a big one, in my mind. Vermicious Knids!!!!

Just saw it today! Tim still has it. Although it added a few things (I really enjoyed that they went into Mr. Wonka's past more, and the ending was great), though missed a few things (Such as the bubble room with the fan), it was still a masterpiece.
Johnny....oh boy...he was great....He had interesting expressions in the movie.

"....Goodmorning Starshine! The earth says hello!" Yeah, I was waiting for the bubble room. I personally liked the Oompa Loompas much more than the original's. Glad you liked it, Sean.

Lol - the ones in the new movie *were* the original songs. The *actual* original songs. They actually used the poetry Dahl wrote this time. I prefered the new songs (but then the Oompa Loompas in the original traumatised me beyond belief...).

Actually...no they weren't....
It started with "oompa loompa" and a bunch of ryming words...they never said the names of the kids...

I saw it a few days ago, and it was AMAZING! But, you gotta admit, the best quote was the whole, "Even I'm eatable, but that's called canaballism and is frowned upon in most cultures." Hilarious!

And when Wonka tried to be "cool, hip, and fresh" ^_^

And the boy that kept mumbling! "You keep mumbling, so I can't hear you."

Actually...no they weren't.... It started with "oompa loompa" and a bunch of ryming words...they never said the names of the kids... I'm referring to the TRUE original: the book. That's what I meant by "original", not the other movie. Remember, the Depp movie isn't a *remake*, it's an adaption of the novel. That's why I don't really like to call the Wilder movie the "original", just the first adaption of the book. That's all. Sorry if I was confusing.
