At least those of you in the US(I don't know about the status of the show in Canada or England, sorry), but I just found out that Jason Lee is going to be starring in his VERY OWN TV SERIES this fall on NBC, called "My Name is Earl"! He plays this sorta rednecky-sounding guy(I swear, Jason really ought to be given an Oscar or SOMETHING for Most Authentic Southern Accent By a Non-Southerner)named Earl who apparently was a really bad dude at one time, but who is now trying to make ammends for his past evil ways and help as many of the people he once wronged as he can. It's supposed to be a comedy, with some message overtones, and sounds like it will be a really great series, IF NBC doesn't screw up and air it opposite of "C.S.I." or some other established popular show. Jason Lee sounds JUST like Buddy when he talks in his "redneck mode" in the movie, though I have no idea how this Southern CALIFORNIA native can sound more convincingly and realistically Southern than ME! Steve Buscemi definately isn't the only actor who can do many accents very different from his own, and make them sound authentic. I don't know what time the show will air, or what date it will start, but you can bet I'll be keeping my eye out for it!

I think he's the guy that voiced Buddy. I've heard of him, though I haven't heard of this new series- the likelihood is that it will show over here a few months after it premiers in America.

Yep, Jason Lee is the voice of Buddy Pine, Redneck Genius! From the clips I've seen of the show, I can see a LOT of Buddy's personality and quirky sense of humor, as well as that trademark Southern drawl, in Jason's character. Physically, they look NOTHING alike-Jason Lee is slender, dark-haired and somewhat dark-complexioned, but he seems to really infuse his own personality into his characters just like Steve Buscemi does with his. I did find out that the series is set to air on Tuesday evening at nine pm Eastern Time in the US, on NBC.

Sounds cool =) I liked him on Dogma. His character on that movie apparently got him the part for Syndrome, I heard ...

Hmm...There is a guy- a real actor- who looks pretty much EXACTLY like Buddy- blonde hair, big chin, even the shape of his mouth! He was in a film where there was a couple driving in the middle of the night and someone kept following them...It was really scary, and this guy was the bad guy. But honestly- he looks SO MUCH like Buddy! ;D

I can't imagine who that actor would be-I don't know any actors who look like Buddy(and NO, it definately would NOT have been "Carrot Top"; he's a lame, scrawny stand-up comedian, anyway). Eddie Montgomery of the Country music due Montgomery-Gentry DOES look a lot like Buddy, though, just a bit older, and keeps his hair pulled back in a ponytail, like the way Buddy is wearing it in that pencil portrait I did of him. Oh, wait...I CAN think of a actor who DOES sorta look like Buddy-got that chin and those ice-blue "Catahoula" eyes, as well as the same build, and that would be Kiefer Sutherland. Keifer's hair is blonde, though, while Buddy is definately a red-head, but the resemblence is certainly there. Kiefer Sutherland often does play the "Bad Guy", and can be very convincing in that role!

No, it isn't Sutherland...If I ever find out what his name is, I'll tell you. I think- THINK- that he was in a film called 'The Hitchhiker'.
