It's on NBC, at 9 pm Eastern time. It's getting really great preliminary reviews so far from critics, and get this-Jason Lee was interviewed via satallite by one of our local NBC affliliate reporters here in South Carolina, AND somewhere in the interview(of which I missed part because I was washing my hair, darn it)it was said that he had "connections with South Carolina"! I guess that explains the accent and the redneck persona, huh, even though he was born in Southern California. I'm so proud!

I was reminded a bit of Randall from that thing... Note, a BIT.
But yeah....I can see this.

Did you watch it? I was laughing so hard, my side hurt afterwards! That's gotta be one of the funniest shows I've seen, but it DOES "push the envelope" with the censors, so to speak. Honestly, it's more like a HBO series than one I'd expect to see on network television. I can SOOOO hear Buddy's voice whenever Earl speaks, since Buddy is barely able to hide his redneck side himself. I can't really see Randall fitting in with all these rednecks, myself, even if he is "blue collar". This is more like a Bill Engvall or Jeff Foxworthy routine, or Larry the Cable Guy, than anything I can even picture Randall in. You KNOW it's redneck when the main character has this line: "No use runnin', Sonny; I know where ya mama parks ya HOUSE!"

Oh my gosh! I thought of you, Pitbull while watching.
You can hear a lot of Buddy, can't you? That quote about the trailer was great! It's on right before the Office, so I had to watch it. It was suprisingly good!

If nothing else, all of you who live outside the South can actually hear a real Southern accent for once-ironic that it took a native of CALIFORNIA to bring it to the screen! I swear, they ought to start giving Emmies and Oscars for realistic accents, and Jason Lee is a shoe-in! If I didn't know better, I'd swear that boy was from South Carolina!

Whatdaya mean "blue collar"? Anyway. Na. Haven't seen it yet. I miss allot of things because I don't know the times and I usually miss it. It comes on at 9 pm on Tuesday nights, on NBC. You are in the Eastern time zone, same as me, so it will come on at nine where you are, too, Sean. The term "Blue Collar" is a euphimism for working class, low-to-middle socio-economic group people. You know, the ones who really have to scrape and scrounge to earn an honest living, who often live in tract housing, low-rent appartments, or down South, mobile homes(trailers). Most "Blue Collar" people don't have a formal(college)education, and many are lucky to have graduated high school. The ones that DO have a degree usually possess one from a technical college. I would definately consider Randall Boggs to be "Blue Collar"; in fact, I've seen many reviewers of the movie refer to ALL of the Scarers by this term, and since they only earn minimum wage, it certainly fits. Randall is most likely the only one of the three main monsters who has a degree, and it most likely DID come from a technical college, in some sort of mechanical engineering or drafting. pitbulllady

Oh well...I wouldn't really call him TOTALLY "blue collar" but umm...yeah I guess that sorta works I suppose.
Well actually umm.... He did get a degree and...well... Heh heh...I'd rather let him get to it when the time comes. Don't want to spoil it... ^_^

Tell him not to feel bad, Sean-I came from strictly a "blue collar" background myself. I've even been described as "redneck" on more than one occasion, by more than one person. I have not one, but two degrees, but I haven't forgotten where I came from, and I'm not ashamed of it, either.

Yeah, it's really sad when people feel as though they can't tell others where they come from just because they might make fun or something.

Huh? You guys lost me. It's not like Randall was ever ashamed at his class. Ok...maybe a few times. But then again, he didn't know allot of what was going on in his world.
