I just read on Animated-news.com that Bob Iger has NOW taken over as Disney's CEO, instead of waiting for September and Eisner's official retirement, and the first thing he has done is to begin dismantling some of the negative things that Eisner has established. One of those things that Iger has now abolished is the "Strategic Planning Unit", a group of beaurocrats and executives who basically were in charge of Disney's creative forces-its writers, artists, set designers, etc. The Strategic Planning Unit was established by Eisner to maintain as much control of creativity as possibly, making sure that budgets were kept to a minimum and storylines stayed within certain boundries, among other things. This is the reason many feel that the creativity at Disney has been so stifled for many years, resulting in poor storytelling, shoddy animation, etc. Well, now it's gone, which means that the writers and artists will now hopefully have much more of their freedom back to do what they do best, without this bunch of Eisner clones breathing down their backs.

Well, now that Iger is pretty much on the drivers seat, the Disney creative bus should be travelling on some more favorable path like they did in the past.

Hopefully, Iger should be very interested in talking to Pixar again. I seemed to like their partnership, when its meant for good, of course.

*nods* That sounds like a good thing. ^_^ Anybody have any idea on what's currently being worked on by Disney? *hasn't been keeping up with the news* Well, as far as I know, tons of direct-to-video sequals are being made ("Tarzan 2", "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch", and I forgot the other one). And, of course, the "Chicken Little" movie that's coming out this summer is the only theater one I can think of. In my opinion, it reminds me of the odd "Teacher's Pet" movie.

Well, there's "Toy Story 3", and Chris Sanders' "American Dog", which sounds really good and stars an GCI tv-star dog that looks like the illigitimate offspring of Stitch and one of my sister's German Shepherds...I'm sure that there's more, but these are the main ones I'm keeping up with at the moment. pitbulllady

Pitbulllady. Did you know they're making a NEW MOVIE of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

Yeah, I knew about the "Hitch-hiker's Guide" movie. It's actually the ONLY one-most people are familiar with the BBC mini-series, which is actually how I got introduced to it. I probably won't be seeing the movie; I guess I'm too much of a purist, but Disney has tried to "Americanize" it, and to me, it will always be a British thing. I reckon when I found out that they had cast "gangsta" rapper Mos Def as my favorite character, "Ford Prefect"(David Dixon will always be Ford in my mind, with that wild reddish hair and ice-blue eyes), that pretty much convinced me it probably isn't worth seeing. Plus, all the publicity shots I've seen of the new movie show Zaphod with only ONE head-I mean, come ON! He HAS to have two heads, and surely with today's CGI it should be easy to get that effect, realistically!

I think Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android is my only reason for wanting to see that film.

I'm really liking the books, though. ^_^ Either Arthur Dent or Ford Prefect is my fave character. *likes Arthur mostly for his humorous sarcasm - 'tis very much like Ty's* "Fine," said Ford. "Look, are you busy?" "Am I busy?" exclaimed Arthur. "Well, I've got all these bulldozers and things to lie in front of because they'll knock down my house if I don't, but other than that. . .well, no not especially, why?" Lol. I had to laugh at that one. ^_^ And it is a real bummer to see Zaphod with one head. It's, like, a crime not to give him two - the books say he's supposed to have two, not one! XD
