More good news about the future of Disney/Pixar-this was posted on UltimateDisney.com today, through a link on Animated-News.com.
"Another sign that Pixar and Disney may be moving closer to extending their partnership: a listen to Pixar's first quarter conference call for investors reveals that Pixar CEO Steve Jobs had nothing but nice words to say about the studio who not long ago he put down. Jobs stated, "I've been getting to know (Robert Iger, Disney's CEO-to-be) a little bit, and he seems like a terrific guy. If Disney wants to strike a new deal with us, we'll see how things go." Later this year, Pixar is expected to announce their next three films slated for summers 2007, 2008, and 2009. Meanwhile, Pixar's chief financial officer Simon Bax announced that a DVD re-release of Toy Story 2 will likely follow September's Toy Story 10th Anniversary and could be out by the end of the year."

Well, that sounds like an itty-bitty step towards a decent, Pixar-made MI 2. Every little bit counts, right?

Yes, apparently Pixar already has original(NOT sequels)films planned for release in those years. Now, IF they find themselves working on sequels, IF such a thing is part of the new hoped-for agreement with Disney, they might end up postponing release of these soon-to-be-announced films or making TWO per year instead of one. That, though, is mere speculation on MY part, not anything official.

They haven't released the names of those films, or their plots, so no one outside of Pixar knows what they are at this time.

Ratatouille sounds interesting, though. ;D But since there aren't going to be ANY films released this year, is it really likely that Pixar will be able to churn out two films a year? Or maybe, since they're constantly expanding, perhaps it'll be made possible.

No, it isn't-"Cars" has been pushed back to summer of 2006. It's was originally scheduled to be released in the fall of 2005, but the release date was pushed back because Pixar felt it would be better as a summer film, to coincide with the peak of NASCAR racing season, AND because this will put the release date will give Disney and Pixar time to have negotiated a new deal...or not. "Ratouille" is scheduled for release in 2007, and beyond that no one knows outside of Pixar at this time.

It's going to be weird not being able to look forward to a Pixar film this year, though... ;D

Hmm...what is this "Ratatouille" you speak of? I'm glad to hear the contract may just be renewed. One step closer! Hopefully somebody in high places may just hear about our motley crew of Randall fans. Hmm...Disney seems to like milking every last cent from a successful movie, so I wouldn't be suprised to see a suggestion from them to Pixar. We can only hope! As for "Cars"...hmm. It really just doesn't look like it will have the same emotion and magic that MI, Toy Story and the Incredibles had. I didn't feel particularily drawn I am excited for Chicken Little though - that should be good ;D -Lauren

I think its good each of Pixars movies tackles ordinary stories/concepts and gives em a magical twist. and they're yet to churn out a dud movie... xxx
