Here's the complete "skinny" right here- biz.yahoo.com/bwml/060124/246101.html?.v=1 ;basically PIXAR will have control over ALL of the animation dept.; ALL Disney animated movies from now own will be under control of the guys from Pixar, although as a price to be paid, the "Pixar" name will no longer exist. Still, it means that if we are lucky, we can have our proverbial cake and eat it, too-A "Monsters, Inc. 2" that IS created, written and animated by the same guys who created the first one, MINUS the influence of Eisner, with (as I'm hoping)Chris Sanders directing and giving Randall the same second chance he gave his little blue alien canine! As soon as the dust settles a bit, we REALLY need to work on rallying the Randall fans, guys, and making this new mega-studio hear our voices. pitbulllady

Well...a petition doesn't really sound like this... So what is it that we should do really? We seem to be in a win-win situation here as long as we make a big uproar for Ran.

I guess that's okay...A part of me's always loved Pixar, and hated what Disney has become, so if this merging is good for both studios, then that's good, because although I dislike Disney, I've always wanted them to return to their original high standards. I think it's a shame that Pixar won't be recognised as an individual company any more, though it's always going to be obvious when a very Pixar-ish film comes out, even if Disney and Pixar are merged together.
But the idea of a possible MI2, with a Randall comeback, really overcomes any other thoughts I have concerning Disney and Pixar. We're closer than ever to one of our key dreams coming true! ;D

Perhaps... But we can still have some complications... Ran's fate is still inclined to the writers and the judgers of those writers...

So... "Cars" will be the last film made under the "Pixar" name? Why do I feel the sudden urge to go watch that little jumping lamp again?

So... "Cars" will be the last film made under the "Pixar" name? Why do I feel the sudden urge to go watch that little jumping lamp again? No, Beboots, the films made by Pixar will have the "Disney/Pixar" lable, but will still be made by PIXAR at the their Emoryville studios. John Lasseter and Ed Catmull of Pixar will also have influence over the Disney-only animated films. Iger apparently realized that his company had lost much of its talent and visionary writing, and knew that he had to more or less hire the best in the business to get it back on track. What's ironic is that back in the day, when Pixar was founded, they needed DISNEY to get them on THEIR feet, but now it's the other way around-the student has become the teacher! What we DON'T know is whether or not Pixar will elect to make sequels to their movies. I am hoping that public pressure and incentives from their "other half" will encourage them to do so, at least for some of their films, and that now, without Eisner calling the shots from backstage, they won't feel as compelled to make Randall the villain anymore. pitbulllady
