She is my favorite minor character (I was disappointed to learn that she was a major character who got "whittled down" to minor status). As a scare trainer, her job is in jeopardy. She does not strike me as the kind of person who would make a good "laugh trainer" during the changeover. What is in store for her?

Well it 's uncertain if Scareing DOES still remain...
But Flint will probably be put into executive status maybe by Sullivan. Seeing as how she's good at ordering.

Much like in my sequel suggestion. BTW, I am sure she was never a scarer herself. She is a trainer, and I see the situation as being "Those who can, do, and those who can't, teach." There is at least supposedly a severe energy crisis. The source of power is in the Human World. Monsters are terrified of humans. Only the bravest of the brave can dare to go out into the Human World and collect screams (or later, laughter). Every such monster must do his part...there are MILLIONS of children who need scaring (or joking). If Flint were such a monster, she would BE a scarer, and not wasting her time teaching. Therefore, she is not brave enough to go into a child's bedroom (no reflection on her...neither are 99.9999% of the monsters).

i think she would still be a trainer. just to teach the new monsters how to handle kids. i don't think it will be up her ally as much as being scare trainer did, but she seemed like a very analytical person and would still be a great teacher. the right way to approach a child in their room etc.

Right...the monsters still consider children perilous.

good point. i think it would be harder for them to act at ease with children than to scare them. i mean, how are you supposed to tell jokes when you're scared out of your wits. maybe Flint got a pay raise. lol. her job would be harder.

Flint considered scareing, as trainers MUST know the protocol SCARERS have to follow in order to train them. She did have fair qualifications, but she figured it was better to be more in the..."directive" approach. Therefor a trainer. And yes, Scarers can be trainers, vice-versa. Afterall, Randall was one for a brief period.

Maybe pitbullady can comment on this. Monsters are depicted as so terrified of children that it would be like someone being an astronaut here (where something like a few percent of astronauts have died or almost died (Apollo 13)). Indeed, the opening sequence is from a movie about astronauts. Only the bravest of the brave would be able to do the job. On the other hand, being a trainer means having to memorize a lot of rules and the ability to be, as beelz said, like an English teacher. Meanwhile, they are having an energy crisis at least as bad as anything we have seen. And they get their power from millions of children worldwide. They come out of each child's closet often enough that it was reasonable for Mike and Sully to go to a small Himalayan village and expect to hear a child scream and get there before the parents could. That means, even with multiple scares per shift, there must be hundreds of thousands of scarers. With only the bravest of the brave being qualified, you would think that every available scarer has to be used full time. ANY monster can scare a child...after all, they all look "monstrous". Indeed, Flint is less likely to be a joker after the shift than Mike...he looks a little silly after you get used to him, but she is scary looking. My favorite hope is that Sully, as CEO, realized that he needs a strong hand to help him out and remembers his old English...er, scaring trainer. She would make an excellent assistant, and she could be featured in a sequel this way.

Flint maybe very well take the swithc of laughter and scream to a bit of a shock, but knowing it, hopefully, won't affect her current position would be a relief.

BTW, RandallBoggs, where was it established that Randall was a trainer at one time? I did not catch that in the movie. Was it in some Disney merchandise?
