Ever notice that Boo seems to look a little mediocre compared to the monsters? I read somewhere that CGI does this on purpose, because a "best effort" on a human actually makes the human look repulsive to people. It is called the Uncanny Valley.

Yeah, she still looks very sweet, but has less realism. That's where the Final Fantasy film went wrong- they tried to make the humans look as real as possible, but they ended up looking just weird.

Actually Cool I disagree. I feel they were successful with that film. Truth be told I had no idea that everything was CGI.

Yeah, humans, especially human skin, is VERY difficult to render in CGI, without looking gross! Remember the CGI movie of "The Polar Express"? Those kids just looked creepy; their facial expressions were like zombies or something! Boo is actually the most realistic human I've seen in a Pixar movie, though, compared to the more exaggerated humans in "Finding Nemo" and "The Incredibles". At first, the animation in the latter disappointed me, insofar as the human characters went, until I realized it was done that way on purpose to avoid having characters that looked creepy and "undead".

Hahaha ^_^ I must see CGI a bit differently because I liked Polar Express too ^_^

No, I agree with Pitbulllady on this one. Taking just a screenshot from either Polar Express or Final Fantasy might be okay, but the movements and everything of the people just weren't natural. Even the imperfections in their skin seemed too perfect.

Of course, as technology improves, we will eventually reach the other side of the valley and get photorealistic humans. But I hope CGI movies in series (as I hope Monsters will be) keep the same look for humans, if only for continuity.

Well, the same applies with Toy Story and Toy Story 2- they did keep the look of the humans quite similar, and made just a few changes.
