I figure there must be a monster good for Louisiana, one that would still scare the kid. Maybe they are Fundamentalists and the monster looks like the Devil. Otherwise, why would the door still exist? The rules say "Shred the door when the kid is no longer afraid" and he certainly wasn't scared of Randall (he thought he was just another gator).

The door might have just been activated, if the kid had just moved into the uh..."house". That woman DID seem rather old to have what looks like an 8-9 year-old kid, so maybe she's his grandmother, and not his real mother at all(a very common-place thing in the South, kids being raised by grandparents, either because their parents are dead, in prison, or mentally incapable of raising a child). In that case, it might not have been discovered that the kid was not afraid of monsters yet. It's also a very common thing in the South for families to move a LOT, and in the case of many, to take their houses with them. From what I've seen of the individual profiles of each child, the M.I. factory uses physical addresses of a home to locate a child, so if that physical address changes but the "house" remains the same one, that would tend to be confusing.
Then again, like you said, maybe the kid was afraid of SOMETHING, though since I've been to southern Louisiana many times, it's hard to imagine WHAT. If it resembles a menacing animal of any sort, the reaction tends to be just what you saw in the movie-KILL IT and EAT IT. I know that some of the monsters at the factory were just so bizarre, with no resemblence to any creature we have in OUR world, that maybe that fear of the unknown would have been enough to get a reaction from that kid. But then, there's the issue of safety to the Scarer due to the size(or lack thereof)of that habitation; in the child profiles I've seen, the distance between the child's room and the PARENTS' room is given, and I'd assume that if that distance was too close, that child would not be a good candidate for Scream collection, since the risk of the parents bursting in and catching the Scarer would be too great. In that tiny camper trailer in the bayou, it's all pretty much one room, so the kid did not even seem to have his own separate room.

There was no kid there. Now. If there WAS, he might be over at a friend's, or out with his father.
But to be basic here. The door was picked SPECIFICALLY, as there was no child there.

Uhm, Sean, I believe the tmazanec1 was referring to the trailer in the bayou of Louisiana, and there most certainly WAS a kid in that trailer. He was wearing a baseball cap, and was the first to spot Randall, remember? He's the one with the Cajun accent, which is a give-away to the location of said trailer, remember? Tmazanec1 was wondering why that kid still had a door in the door vault in the first place, why his door in the factory(the one Randall was thrown into)had not been shredded already, if the kid was not afraid of monsters. He obviously was concerned about Randall being in their "house", but he was not AFRAID of him. If anything, he was probably a bit happy, since that would mean, in his mind, that the family would be dining well over the next couple of days. Like I've said, "gator" is the Other White Meat in Louisiana; I've eaten it myself every time I've visited that state. The only reasons for the kid still having an active door would be that either there WAS a Scarer in the factory he was afraid of, or he'd just moved there, and the door had only recently been activated, so the Scarers had not had time to find out that this kid was not scared of monsters, and shred that door accordingly. pitbulllady

Yes true. But the voice and height of that kid proved that he was MORE out of the stage of being scared of monsters.

Yes true. But the voice and height of that kid proved that he was MORE out of the stage of being scared of monsters. I just think he was a "husky" kid; he sounded like he was maybe in fifth grade at the most(though he could have still been older than most fifth graders, since he probably had spent a couple of years in that grade level at least). The woman herself is actually shorter than Randall is, and that's while he's standing on all-fours, presumably, so if Randall is five feet tall on all-fours, that would make her really short, and make the kid look bigger in comparison. The factory must have had reason to think he could still be scared, otherwise that door would have already been shredded, unless he had a younger sibling not shown, or a younger kid had recently moved out of that trailer,or more likely, the spot it occupied, which would have the same address, but a different actual trailer. pitbulllady
