Well, even Sherlock Holmes was double talked back to life, so don't give up on Randall in MI2. Perhaps he and Sully fall for the same girl? (And btw, I am NOT going to touch the mechanics of monster reproduction with a ten parsec pole. Even MY imagination boggles at that one).Thank you! I'm glad SOMEBODY besides me knows about that, that even back in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's day, long before movies and the internet, there were some really dedicated fans around! I've often used this as a playing card whenever someone says, "but they killed So-and-So, so he can't come back in the sequel!" If So-and-So is popular and financially lucrative enough, they'll find a way to bring him back! If his following on the internet is any indication, Randall is certainly the most popular character from the original Monsters, Inc., or at least the one with the most dedicated and loyal fanbase.
On Pixar sequels: yes, Pixar IS moving along with production of THEIR version of Toy Story 3, though they have not revealed any information about the plot. There are also rumors that Peter Docter, the director of Monsters, Inc., is working on a project involving monsters for Pixar, though this does not necessarily mean it's a sequel or even connected to M.I. in any way. As for W.A.L.-E, this could very well be what's called a "working title", one intentionally used to "throw off" the media and fans while a film is in production, in order to keep as much of it secret as possible. If you recall, M.I. had a working title, too-The Hidden City, and I'm sure most of you are familiar with movies like E.T. The Extraterrestrial, and their working titles.
