Ummm.... A little off topic, but I was just thinking about this...
Since of how much you like Randall, don't we all?, would you like to be in the RPG?
I have to start asking directly because people don't seem to.

Come on Sean, it is REALLY, really hard to believe that Randall is this sexless, or asexual, THING who has no interest in the opposite gender whatsoever! I can believe he's an evil, remorseless willful kidnapper of innocent little kids before I can believe THAT! He doesn't have to be a perv or a lech, but the guy practically OOZES with sexuality, and clearly I am not the only female to pick up on that! Guys who don't want to be attractive to potential partners, AREN'T-bottom line. People who do not wish to be attractive to the opposite sex go out of their way to NOT be, and this simply isn't the case with Randall. Everything from the way he moves to his suave speech patterns indicates that he has quite a way with the ladies, and he KNOWS it. Part of his stress in the movie, no doubt, stems from the fact that building the Scream Extractor has seriously cut into his social life, and quite possibly resulted in the ending of a relationship with some "significant Other", who would surely have figured he was having an affair on the side to account for all those nights he came home late, all tuckered out, and all those "lost weekends" where he couldn't-or wouldn't-account for his whereabouts. Sorry if it bothers you, but I just can't see Randall as a hermit, avoiding contact with the opposite sex. It just doesn't fit him. Like I said, this doesn't mean he's a nymphomaniac, but just that he's a normal, red-blooded male! Since so many HUMAN females find him so attractive, surely many female MONSTERS would, too, scaly or not, and I doubt he'd run from all of 'em!

May I remind you of Discrimination, Racism, and various other things we don't have to IT'S DEGREE here that they have there.
No. He doesn't AVOID contact. He just doesn't seem ready to settle down. Sure. 25 is a great age to settle down. I honestly DO consider Randall WAS going to find someone else when he was Top Scarer. But there are still many factors.
He's an orphan. No parents or family would seriously affect his love life, if any. He's also a reptile. With discrimination and racism, there are few in the city as we've seen. When he became a trainer, Randall couldn't really much look into the city since he wasn't there....
When he was bumped to second, he had other things to worry about. Bills, finding out HOW Sullivan cheated, getting back his top spot and, later, building the extractor.
Randall doesn't AVOID the opposite sex. No. He just hasn't found anyone he really thought liked HIM for HIM.

Oh, and just to say, the whole thing about seperate locker rooms? Well, I know a mixed school close by that has seperate locker rooms- just because THAT'S seperate doesn't mean the workplace is separate. ;D

Oh, and just to say, the whole thing about seperate locker rooms? Well, I know a mixed school close by that has seperate locker rooms- just because THAT'S seperate doesn't mean the workplace is separate. ;D Quite true-in the movie, the locker rooms and the bathrooms were in the same area, and while I don't mind working with guys, I would feel pretty strange, to say the least, using the restroom with a roomfull of 'em, or changing clothes while some guy I hardly even know uses the urinal right across the room! I know that most of the monsters didn't wear clothing, and that all the...uhm, "Key" parts that would give away their gender were probably internal, as is the case with many animals, or covered with fur, but still... That's why uni-sex workplaces are common, but uni-sex bathrooms and locker rooms where people change clothing are not. I still think that there WERE female Scarers, but we don't get to know them by name, and they were further down on Scare Floor F than where most of the action is, which is around Sulley's' and Randall's Door Stations. pitbulllady

Guess that makes sense. But even when, at the beginning, Sulley and Mike enter MI near the reception desk, I don't remember seeing anyone female wearing a helmet...

Guess that makes sense. But even when, at the beginning, Sulley and Mike enter MI near the reception desk, I don't remember seeing anyone female wearing a helmet... That's because there is no such thing as a "female helmet". A hard hat is a hard hat, no matter who wears it. They come in different sizes, but that's the only difference. When they enter the building Mike and Sulley DO speak to a female Scare Assistant, named "Betty", who has apparently just returned from jury duty(proof that there are also criminal trials in the Monster World), as Sulley asks her about this and calls her by name. She is seen later on their Scare Floor, though how she manages-she is nothing but a pair of stout tentacles that flop along on the floor-I have no clue! It would seem that if they allowed female Scare Assistants to work alongside male Scarers, they would allow female Scarers. That's why I think that A) there WERE some female Scarers, further down on the floor, but they were not important to the story and weren't mentioned specifically and B)there probably weren't many, since this was still perceived as a male-dominated career, like teaching is still perceived as a female-dominated career in the US. You just wouldn't have many female monsters thinking, "I want to be a Scarer when I grow up", just like you won't hear many boys here in the US going, "forget professional basketball-I'm gonna be a TEACHER"! pitbulllady

No no. Not Betty. Betty was in the commercial.
The one they talked to was....hmm.......Ran!
....... Oh yes.
Marge Inners, a scare assistant. Well remember. Randall was growing up in a still HIGHLY discriminative place. So I wouldn't be surprised if THEIR 2001 was like our....well.....in social and business terms, like our Industrial Revolution. Or the time when Women took Women jobs....
