I was just watching the film and I noticed something- how come none of the scarers on Scare Floor F are female? Do you think there was sexism in MI?

You're not the first who noticed that; believe me, a LOT has been said in reviews about it. However, we don't really know that there are no female Scarers; it's just that all the ones identified by name are male. There are several in the background who are not identified or shown close up, who COULD be female, but with monsters, it isn't always easy to tell without hearing them speak, is it?

Yeah...And then they had any reception type jobs, like Celia's and Roz's, taken by females. And the way Mike treats Celia just reminds me of old-fashioned romance, where the guy is the tough one who has to save the 'damsel in distress'. I dunno, it just seemed a little weird to me. Maybe scaring was a male-dominated job.

Well actually Cool your not far off. You see, Ran's told me about this.
You see. The overall stress and danger of a Scarer's job, and the overall thought of toxification, would lead to CEO's and other employees NOT to give females jobs. It's not particularly sexist, but in a way, concern for the female population.
Then again. There are over 1000 stations and SO many floors. We've only seen 1 and one floor.
Pity. I guess Randall didn't like the idea of being around girls since he was Second Scarer (yeah right...)

Well, I beg to differ-it IS sexist, since females actually are able to handle stress BETTER than males! Why do you think that males are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure and heart attacks/strokes? True, in the HUMAN population, men are better equipped, physically, to handle strenous activities like lifting heavy objects, but women actually respond much better at handling decision-making. With monster females, I'd imagine some of them are as big and strong as Sulley! So there would be no valid reason other than sexism to prohibit female Scarers-"protect the female population", my butt! I would think that RANDALL, of all monsters, having been the victim of descrimination himself, would understand this. The only real reason for a shortage of female Scarers would be, as Cool described, that it was simply considered a male-dominated field, and few females were interested in it, just as the teaching profession is a female-dominated field in the US.

I too noticed that none of the scarers they show look like they could possibly be female...maybe Scare Floor F is for males? Then again...why would they separate males and females on the job? Hmm.

Seriously, I know I would have a tough time concentrating on MY job with Randall Boggs just a few yards away! That would be very distracting, to say the least, and having him in such close proximity and being unable to act upon it would indeed produce very high levels of stress in female employees. pitbulllady

Yeah. When he was Top Scarer, even though Randall may have not had his eyes on any girls, they certainly would have their eyes on him. If for just him well.....

Well, that's true, of course I'd also be tempted to hit on Randall if I was working near him. But, every workplace I've ever seen has men and women working side by side. I worked with guys in my last job. It just seemed strange that they would separate them by floor. But, maybe it was a good idea, for the reason you mentioned. Or, maybe there just happen to be no (or few) girls on Floor F.

Maybe it's seperate that way. One. It doesn't seem to be sexist in the workplace (women and men DO see each other between shifts) Two. There are female scarers.
Besides. Why "Men's Locker Room" instead of "Scarer's Locker Room" hmm?
My point of female employees proven...

Well, from what Ran told me, he had some of the females attracted to him when he was Top Scarer. Of course he didn't plan on spending time with them, but he acknowledged their attraction ^_^
Of course, when he dropped down, they couldn't care less about who he was.

^^ They sound a bit like Lola--attracted to fame and power! ;D But I'm sure there must be some lady monsteresses (word?) who'd go for him no matter what...somewhere.

Err maybe....
Ran say's he doesn't really have an interest in females. Sure, he respects them, but he hasn't really found anyone to settle down with.
And you can expect umm.....well.....human girls and....him and..... Well you know.
