I was just wondering, but why call a power company like Monsters, Inc 'Monsters, Inc.'? Although it's simple and easy to remember, it's a little weird, don't you think- it's like a power company in our world being called 'Humans, Inc'.

That's very true. I was wondering that about why the city was called 'Monstropolis'. Maybe all place names in the Monster world have some reference to scaring or screaming or monsters.

Mon-monster
Tropolis-paradise....
There you go....
Ok...let me break it out for you....I know everything....
Monsters Inc. was not called Monsters Inc. since it's bornage. It was called Monsters Ltd. (limited) in 1810. However. The door system was developed....ahem...nevermind that...
Anyway. Monsters Inc. was the first scare company to actually be created. When the harnassing of the gate-ways (the doors) was possible, Monsters Ltd. became an effort with many monsters to make Scareing easier.
Now. I must say that the "use" of scream has not yet been completed. Simply tasks for scream-energy is all there is, NO electricity at this time. Looking through my files, I have yet to conclude exactly WHAT other functions for Scream there was besides electricity, but I'd rather not pose that question to Randall. Anyway. Monsters Inc. was simply called it's name because it was the first successful Scare Industry to be created. The Waternooses took over several years after Monsters Ltd. was born and turned it into "Monsters Inc.". The company began to grow and expand and became the famous supplier of Monstropolis.

So, because it was the first company to be created, they named it after monsters...So the first electricity company in this world should be named after humans...? Doesn't make sense to me...I mean, surely they would've named the company after something to do with scaring?

Uh....Monsters....duh.... Keep in mind that simplicity is key for such things. Monsters Inc. is simply called that because it's the prime ingredient to scareing. Without Monsters there is no industry.

Yeah, but you could apply that to EVERYTHING- without monsters, there'd be no buildings, cars...it goes on and on. So all car companies in the Monster World are called "Monster Cars"?

Ugh... Simply, Mosnters Inc. was the first scare industry and, then, given a simple name to go with the times. Simply, perhaps most industry's first created building had "Monster" in it's name, but changed with the times, though Monsters Inc. did not....
......Why the heck are we having this discussion? It's simple.....

Well, naming a company after the species that created just seemed a little weird to me- like naming a company Humans Inc., as I said. I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as to why this was- no need to get stressed out.

It was simply called....Monsters Inc....because Monster was NOT the species ORIGINAL name.....that was MON.
Now....when Monsters Inc. was formed, there was some confrontation between the....ehh "elders" of scareing to call it Monsters or Mon Inc. I....can't tell you why they didn't call it Mon Inc. yet, but in the end, they called it Monsters Inc.
......
I didn't answer your question correctly did I?

I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as to why this was- no need to get stressed out. You're not alone. I don't know how the thought even popped up, but it really does raise some curiosity. While "Monsters, Inc." may sound undeniably cool, it does seem a wee bit...redundant, for lack of a better word, to name a company after your own species. Maybe they wanted the company's name to bear a sense of unity? Ah dunno... The name "Monstropolis" remains true to its inhabitants, but if you already have a company named "Monsters", why rub it in some more with "MONStropolis"? While we're on the subject of the Monster world... Anyone ever wonder about those monsters who appear on "Monstropolis' Most Wanted" and the kinds of crimes they've committed?

Well... Monsters Inc. was part of the tradition of "scareing".
YOU ALL MUST REMEMBER: Monsters were NOT called "monsters" at first. They were called "Mons", a different form of the word "Man". When Mons first started scarering, the word "Monsters" came about. Earlier Mons figured this is what the Humans would call them now. So they called "Monsters Inc." it's name because that "Monster" was the name Humans called the Mons now. Of course, "Mon" is hardly said nowadays with today's monster youth. Get it?
Ah. Monstropolis's most wanted. There's allot of controversy around there. Given the fact that there are TWO C.D.A. factions, it wouldn't surprise me if allot of Most Wanted monsters are innocent. For instance, if Randall got away with Boo like he did in "Between Fear and Love", he would be a "Most Wanted". Anyway. Monstropolis's Most Wanted is similar to our world. Though, some are innocents that have....er....."dabbled" in the "dark" sections of Scare Co. and the underbelly of Monstropolis and have discovered it's secrets. Of course....the only way to silence them is by tainting their reputation....
