Someone has a Randall book and all of its' pages uploaded on the Winds of Change forum.... has anyone read it? It's nothin' but BS! Randall was not a monster that 'liked to cause trouble', and he did NOT accidentally kidnap Mike and want to use the Scream Extractor on him... Randall still considers Mike his friend, and the first page even implies that Randall was jealous of not only Sulley, but MIKE, too!
It's sickening! At the end of every page - minus the one that merely describes the purpose of MI - I said silently to myself "bullshit". 'Banished forever?' it says at the end? Not on your life..... THEN..... it mud-slings Randall on the back cover!
If I could rate this book, I'd give it a -10. Or lower.....

You have to realize, as upsetting as it is, that ALL of the books, etc., which were published at that time were highly critical of Randall to say the least, IF they mentioned him at all, because Disney was in control of those characters and Disney WANTED everyone to hate Randall to justify a decision made by THEIR CEO. No one, not even the people at Pixar, could have foreseen how popular Randall would be, and Disney certainly missed that boat. You will not find any book written during the Eisner Era that is even neutral when it comes to Randall, other than that one little joke book/book bad "tag-along" that is shaped like Randall's head. That was a one-of-a-kind item, because it didn't try to make Randall out to be epitome of evil.

It sounds like you KNOW... without question, pitbulllady, that the decision for Randall Boggs to be portrayed as a villain can be directly linked to Michael Eisner, the CEO. I'll give you that. I, of course, believe you, and I'm NOT surprised that he did that, given who he is... but I WOULD like to know where you heard or read this info, just to add validity to it all.
I'm sure the general workings and big-time operations between the two companies, such as Pixar not having full say on their characters during that time when 'Monsters, Inc.' was released is self-explanatory and logical, as I've heard that said before, but if you could state any other specifics toward the 'Randall being made out to be the villain' ploy and its' relation to Eisner... I'd appreciate it. Basically so that if I ever engage in conversation with somebody over this touchy issue, I'll have my facts straight... that's all I'm wanting.
Something I've learned growing up is this: You can prove ANY point you feel you must prove... as long as you have the evidence to back it up. I've engaged in debates before, and I can say that without proper evidence, you run the risk of having the other person walk all over you. Because of this, I simply would like to know, in greater detail, what went on between Eisner and Pixar and Randall.
So... hit me with what you've got. I'm all ears. (STANDING BY)

Unfortunately the source of that information was a Geocities blog by a Pixar artist who worked on the movie, and that blog no longer exists. So, no, other than the already well-known fact that Eisner and Steve Jobs were at each other's throats over ownership of the Pixar characters, something all long-time Pixar fans are very much aware of, that is all I can point to. Geocities does not even exist anymore. This was back in the day when the Randall Fans United site was still up and running. You can Google information about the conflict between Eisner and Pixar, though, and the turbulent history between Disney and Pixar during his reign as CEO, and all the reasons for that contention. Pixar now controls Disney Featured Animation, and look at the difference between how Randall was portrayed during the time that Eisner was in control, and how he's portrayed now.
