As most everyone knows, 'Mike's New Car' takes place shortly after the events of 'Monsters, Inc.', but THAT'S when I noticed something ELSE about Sulley that got on my nerves, as if banishing Randall didn't make me angry enough.
Did it strike anyone as odd that in the scene where Sulley's BEST FRIEND, Mike gets trapped under the hood of his car, where the gears totally scrape, burn, and bruise up his round body, Sulley STILL answers his silly cell phone, and for a split second, it's like he TOTALLY FORGETS that Mike is in peril? We do have to keep in mind that this IS the same guy who physically restrained Randall while he squirmed and threw him out the door to get hit with a shovel, but to me, the scene in 'Mike's New Car' indicates that Sulley is so into himself, the guy doesn't even bat an eyelash at seeing MIKE get all banged up. Honsetly!
I bet you anything that if Mike hadn't yelled at Sulley and interrupted the phone call, telling him to open the hood, there's no telling HOW long Mike would have been in there! I also bet you that if RANDALL had been in Sulley's position, he would have shown a deeper concern toward Mike, and would have responded quicker!
Also, consider this... Randall never got on Mike's nerves as much as Sulley does, and Mike is REALLY ticked off at Sulley once he escapes the hood and gets back in his car. He heard Sulley say "Hello?" over the phone, so he KNOWS Sulley was being a bit of a jerk. I guess Mike got a small taste of how Randall felt being banished... because he's just screaming helplessly for about 5 seconds in that hood while Sulley is off in La-la Land.
Am I the only one that noticed this? LOL!

We see that same thing in MU, as well, although by the time that "Mike's New Car" takes place, you have to realize the amount of pressure that Sulley is subjected to as CEO, pressure that I might add, he is in NO way prepared to deal with at all! I also have to ponder if perhaps that phone call was carefully timed so as to avoid having to listen to Mike go on and on about HIMself, how wonderful HE is, how fantastic HIS car is. That has to get tiresome after awhile.
