This morning I had a chat with a doctor about social ability and he brought up introverts. My summary: Introverts that usually shut themselves off (mentally and/or physically) are in danger of developing and intensifying problems such as depression and anxiety. They feel more confused about life and their social skills deplete. Note that being alone is okay, yet it is best for introverts to have a good balance of interaction. It is also very important for them to focus on helping other people as well as themselves. Yeah, it might not fully apply to Boggs, but I find it interesting.

I can see how that would apply to Randall, although it would be more appropriate to put it in the "Randall Boggs" section than in "General", I would think. But anyway, he is an introvert, but one who still wanted and needed friends and support, which he failed to get. It wasn't from lack of trying, initially, but I believe that he did eventually give up. He had developed, by the time we see him in MI, a full-blown Avoidant Personality Disorder, literally becoming afraid of any close relationships because he's learned that if he tries to get close to anyone, they will reject and hurt him, so he rejects THEM first because he cannot take that pain any longer of being abandoned/rejected by someone he cared about.

I put under General because it would apply slightly to Sulley, too, but I guess it would be appropriate under MI. And then, it could just be a beginner's mistake.

Yeah, the statement COULD apply to Sulley as well, and that's what so sadly ironic about the whole deal between him and Randall: they are much more alike than either of them realize.
