He hadn’t seen it before since he never saw it in theaters. We watched it together on Blu-Ray the other day.
He agrees with me about Randall. He agrees with me that Randall would have looked like an ass to some people no matter what choice he made when Mike asked him to join his team considering that Randall was already on a team at that point so if he suddenly left ROR, he would have looked like an ass to them and made them unable to compete(since then they’d be down a member). My boyfriend also says that honestly, at least 95% of people wouldn’t want to be on OK if they had the option of being on ROR instead, considering that OK was considered the “loser team” that everyone made fun of. Very very few people would have left ROR to be on OK and a lot of friends would probably understand that you wouldn’t want to leave ROR to be on OK.
There is actually an example similar to this that involves my sister. My sister and her long time best friend were on a flight back from Japan last year and they had booked tickets to sit next to each other. The flight was fairly empty though and since my sister had been a frequent flier between Japan and Canada at that point, they offered her to be moved up to first class….but not her friend. Originally my sister was actually going to turn it down to stick with her friend but her friend was like “Oh you totally have to take it. It’s fine. It’s much better than sitting back here.”
It’s similar to how I wouldn’t expect anyone to stick with me on something if they had the option of something much better. I don’t like to hold people back like that.

You think Randall is an a**?!?! No, that's NOT what Minty said. She said that many FANS of MU/MI would have STILL judged Randall negatively, STILL considered him to be an "a**hole" no matter which choice he'd made in MU, as to whether to stick with ROR or defect to join Mike's team, whoever they were(Randall had no way to know, since he wasn't present when Mike put himself in Oozma Kappa, remember). If he'd left ROR, many people would have accused him of being a "quitter" and lacking loyalty or of being unable to make up his mind, being "wishy-washy". By staying with ROR, he's accused of "abandoning his best friend", poor widdle Mike, and of being a "social climber", of "only wanting to be one of the cool kids" who probably "was planning to dump Mike all along". Randall was in a no-win situation there, damned if he did and damned if he didn't. There would have been a faction who would have hated him for whatever choice he'd made. Me, personally, I think it's selfish to NOT want someone you care about to better their situation, even if that means that YOU have to sacrifice a friendship and let them go. I don't want to be the one to hold someone back, prevent them from bettering themselves, and sometimes that means letting them take chances that don't work out like they'd hoped. There's only one way to find out, after all. Mike, of course, did not care one way or the other about Randall or Randall's social life. Randall never meant anything more to him than a study tool, a means to an end, but not as a PERSON. Once Mike was out of the Scare Program, even that aspect of his relationship with Randall had ended, so Randall was demoted to being just a roommate, someone who came and went but otherwise served no purpose and had no usefulness to Mike. pitbulllady

I wouldn't want to put a friend in a situation where they have to chose between me and something else. There is also the phrase that if you truly love someone, you'll let them go because you care more about their happiness than your own....infact them being happy is what makes YOU happy because you care about them.....instead of trying to force them to be with you(for whatever reason - friendship or romance).
