"Well actually Sullivan was more worried about commenting Wazowski on....ehh...pinning me against a door that he didn't notice her slipping out of his arm....I on the other hand was more alert...pfft..."

Well, those two things didn't happen directly after each other. Sullivan was just hanging on a door when he nearly dropped Boo.

Well actually yeah....Ran had his....ehh...fronds pinned to the door.....Wazowski goes down, gloats to Sullivan, he loses grip, nearly loses Boo, and Randall grabs her...
"You'd think they'd have any common sense huh?"

Randall's agility is really proven in those few moments- one second he's nowhere to be seen, and in the next, he's there and he's caught Boo. Amazing, really.

"Heh heh...I AM amazing ain't I?"
Well I've talked with Randall on this and I've researched a bit on how Randall has a near "untouch" speed in some circumstances....

In that scene on the Scare Floor, right after he captures Mike in the box, and Sulley and Boo are hiding, you can really see just how fast he CAN move when he needs to. Once that bell sounds for the lunch break to be over, he's like a blur heading for that cart, he moves so fast! It's also neat to slow-mo his leaps from door to door in the Door Vault, just to see how he coordinates all those limbs and that long, flexible body, and uses his tail as a counter-balance.

It must all be a second-nature to him, though- having to co-ordinate himself. His physical body is just so incredible that, if I ever had to choose what kind of monster I'd be, despite all the racial abuse lizard-monsters get, I'd rather be an agile lizard-monster like Randall, rather than a slow, almost plodding monster like Sulley. Weird how their agility reflects their intelligence, huh?

"Well thanks Cool..."
You know, I have been studying a bit on this for awhile and I think I know how he got those extra limbs for that agility of his...
"....You do?"

There was actually a very plausible explanation given in the Animal Planet "special" on dragons, and on the website they had up(don't know if it still is), which told how a vertebrate animal could develope extra limbs that were functional. I'll have to check and see if the website is still up, but it was part of the Animalplanet.com site.

Now I know why you guys are more successful.....You keep poking into my files!
Anyway.... Yes. As a matter a fact. Other than lizard and snake species, Randall's ancestors had also included several species of the RARE dragons in the monster world.
Simple explaination, other than Animal Planet, is the creation of a several-headed dragon. Sort of like a hydra, but not so fast. With the ability to generate extra heads, there is no dismissal that there is an ability to generate extra limbs in the born-proccess....
Now.... Randall's parents did not consist of a dragon or two...no....nowadays they are rare as they come....I can't say why yet...and no guesses! Anyway...a long-awaited "dragon gene" is like the....ugh...uhh....the non-dominant gene in the DNA. Randall should consider himself lucky to inherit a dragon-gene....too bad he doesn't know the other properties he had inherited...

Yes. This effect is actually an...."evolution" of the gecko's ability to regenerate it's tail....
As a matter a fact....most of the dragons, as few there are, in the monster world souly survive because they can regenerate.... Not to mention their...heh heh....unique abilities...
Randall did inherit extra limbs and may even so learned how to regenerate. Hmm....would explain his fast recoveries...

I doubt very seriously that Randall can regenerate limbs, Sean. Only small lizards which are on the menu of every carnivore on the planet can do this, and they do it so that their dropped tail(which is the ONLY part that can regenerate)can continue to wiggle around and distract a predator long enough for the lizard to escape. Large lizards, like Monitors, cannot do this, and can bleed to death if their tail gets cut off. The fact that Randall, like a Monitor, uses his tail as both an extra limb AND a weapon means it is indespensible-losing it would be devastating, physically and emotionally, IF he survived at all.
I've been a dragon fan for as long as I can remember, and the only dragon in ANY reference I ve heard of which could regenerate anything, was the Hydra, and THAT was its heads! I do seriously doubt RANDALL could grow a new head if his got severed!

Well I didn't say Randall DID have this regenerated capablity. It's a rare quality. And since dragons are hard-to-find nowadays in the Monster World, getting the rare quality is near to impossibility to today's standards.
Well the Hydra itself does present one of the regenerative capabilities. Now of course....this kind of gene was....really....a sort of...."mistake" if you will. Sure, it happens to many monsters, though not with regeneration. But can you imagine satisfying eight heads?
