Lol. I noticed that there are a LOT of people saying how "Hot" or "Cute" these monster's are! XD But who do YOU guys think is the Hottest? It can be by looks OR personality! In my opinion, I think Randall is the most attractive! And NO, I'm not just saying that because he's my favorite either! -_- I like the way he looks, which is pretty weird since I'm usually not attracted to anything that isn't human or human-ish... But he's quite cute. He's purple, he's a lizard (I LOVE Lizards), slick and lean, and I think he has a very sexy voice! And I ADORE guys with Glasses! X3 I liked his personality too, he was very cunning, sly, and mysterious in MI, and FREAKING ADORKABLE in MU! Which means he must still have some dorky traits even as an adult! <333 I also generally tend to go for the "Underdog" characters and Ran is an underdog in my opinion! As for the other guys, well I've haven't really shown as much attraction as I've towards Randy-kins! X3 Although I must say I find Javier, to be quite attractive as well! He's kinda mysterious and I also really like Latino guys! However since he didnt have any lines it's really hard to judge his personality. I also think that Frank McCay is quite a Hot Teacher himself! XD But again he didn't show up enough for me to really judge him. Though I can say that he seems like a fun and nice guy and a great role model. Unlike most people, I find Johnny to be only average in terms of looks! Lol Sorry Pitbulllady. XD I guess I'm just not too big on "Bulkier" looking guys. As for personality, I'm generally not interested in the Popular Guys either. I do like that he has actual depth to him and kinda masks his insecurities behind a jerkish facade. He's kinda similar to Randall, only except he's probably rich and very successful right now. So eh... Mike is very cute. But that's all really. He's just cute! XD Calling him anything other than that would just feel really akward and almost like Pedophelia somehow! Lmao! He's just not my type at all. Sorry. His personality is a little too "Happy" for my tastes and if he ever called me "Shmoopsie Poo" I might just have to barf all over him! XD As for Sulley, see what I just typed about Johnny. Same thing applies to him. As the The OK's, The rest of The ROR's, Brock Pearson and Fungus....No comment really! XD All I can say is cute but not for me! Randall is still the most attractive to me, although in MU, it's in more of a cute way, as he still seems awfully young and almost child-like, like he hasn't even really hit puberty yet. Even though he's clearly very stressed out in MI, he's also more grown-up, physically, an adult, so it's like seeing this cute kid mature into a very handsome adult guy. Randall's eyes are really a large part of what does it for me, plus the way he moves, and I would really love to see him with a more updated, grown-up pair of glasses, because I do find a guy with the right style of glasses to be attractive! Many women do, actually, since glasses denotes intelligence, and I am definitely attracted to guys with smarts! Just PLEASE don't call him a "LIZARD"! He's NOT a lizard; he's not even a reptile, and I bet HE would be quite unhappy to be called that, too. Johnny surprised me by being so attractive to me, since I'm not normally drawn to preppy guys or to big muscular guys, either, but as with MI Randall, I can see a lot of "between the lines" when it comes to him, a big chunk of his personality that he's keeping hidden because he's been told by his father that he has to uphold a certain image, "deliver on that Worthington name", so to speak, and I can only hope that one day he'll have the strength and courage to break free of that mold, otherwise he's gonna wind up a train wreck, worse off than Randall did. But I can see a "good ole' boy" charm underneath that smarmy facade which, in the right environment, would turn into the sort of guy I really would not mind being with. I would not necessarily count on Johnny being that successful after Scaring passed into obscurity, either, unless he finds something else to earn a living. At some point, I sense that he's going to have to stand up to his old man, challenge those values that he's had drilled into his head since he was a toddler, and that might mean even risking losing that family fortune. I really think that somewhere down the road, Johnny is going to have a tough row to hoe, as we say down South, and be faced with some very painful and difficult decisions, and like Randall, he might find himself very much alone in the world. I had to wonder, watching MU, how many real friends he actually had, other than fanboys(*cough*Chet*cough*)and what rock guitarist Slash refers to as "beggers and hangers-on". Javier is handsome, too, but he has an arrogance about him that even Johnny doesn't have, but with more self-confidence than Johnny, too. It's easy to see why he's second in command. Honestly, though, his character was not developed enough for me to really make a decision on him. He doesn't even have any speaking lines, and I think that was a shame, that he never says a word. Come on Pixar, couldn't y'all find any Latino actors to give this guy a voice? And Frank...I'd be lying if I said he wasn't attractive, too, and a lot has to do with his personality and the way he deals with a disobedient fanboy, lol. He has very kind eyes; I can imagine Frank being a wonderful father and husband, and a very reliable person that will stick by his friends and family and go out of his way to help someone. I really don't find the other guys as attractive, physically, but there's no one that is just flat-out disgusting(yeah, sorry monster guys, but you don't come across as hideous as you'd like to be to most of us human gals), either. I'm not into chicks, personally, but I can definitely see how many who are, regardless of gender, would find many of the female characters in this movie very attractive, such as Dean Hardscrabble or Claire or the PNK's. I really like everything about the Dean, from her looks to her British balance of elegance and "I'm not putting up with this $#!^" attitude. She's a lady through and through, but she's no fragile flower! It's not easy writing a female character who is tough and decisive without making her a total bee-atch, completely unlikeable, let alone having her be feminine at the same time. Have any of you really stopped to consider, though, whether or not Pixar intentionally designed these characters to be physically attractive, or what they must think of that, lol? I mean, these are MONSTERS, not even human, but yet a LOT of humans feel attracted to many of the characters, not just to Randall. I used to think I was pretty strange for feeling this way about him, and now there are other characters that I find quite handsome, and clearly I'm not alone or even a minority in this, and I can't help but wonder if Pixar has noticed this, or if they MEANT for this to happen! pitbulllady

Yeah I really cannot help but wonder whether or not this was intentional on Pixar part or not.... Even Time Magazine acknowlges that Johnny is a "Stud" so I'm SURE they at least must be aware of our attractions to the monsters! I also like Dean as well! While Im not attracted to her, I can honestly see her appeal some fans. Sorry about calling Randall a "Lizard". I'm so used to people calling him that, it kinda got stuck in my head.... I know that he's not actually a "Lizard". He appears to be Warm-Blooded for one thing. Calling Randall a "Lizard" is like the equivlent of calling Sulley a "Kitty" (Which in my opinion, he looks nothing like a feline). It's really honest mistake. It also doesnt help that Mike Wazoski himself called Randall a "Lizard Boy"! XD But let's not get too off topic here, let's go back to swooning over all these Monster Hotties! <3 Speaking of which, Terri and Terry arent so bad looking themselves! X3 But how on EARTH would they manage to find two girlfriends or get married? Poor Perry Bros.... Other conjoined twins have gotten married, in our world, so it's do-able...just seems really, really strange, though, as in "kinky" strange, if you get my drift! Still, I guess they have to make the best of it. With one being a dance major and the other being an ENGLISH major-like those two fields couldn't be more different-just scheduling classes has to be a challenge! Terri and Terry are cute, but I don't find them physically attractive, as in "HOT", not like Randall or Johnny or Frank. There's a lot of characters in MU that I would love having as a friend, would love to hang out with, just not take it any further. Then there are... the others, lol. pitbulllady

Randall is the most attractive to me. I like the way he looks and the way he moves as well as his attitude. He is quite different looking from any of the other monsters. I agree the change in him between the two movies is like seeing a cute kid growing into a handsome adult. Of the other characters I'm not sure. I don't really like the slug-type monsters or the Mike-shaped monsters much. I can see how Dean Hardscrable could be atractive.

sorry i've got to butt in here; what's the issue with calling Randall "lizard"? He may not technically be a lizard in terms of biology, but his design sure dictates that. He has a chameleon look. There can be no arguing that. I have always referred to him as lizard like and see no problem with it.

sorry i've got to butt in here; what's the issue with calling Randall "lizard"? He may not technically be a lizard in terms of biology, but his design sure dictates that. He has a chameleon look. There can be no arguing that. I have always referred to him as lizard like and see no problem with it. Randall doesn't look anything like a chameleon, actually, not to someone who has actually owned real chameleons! His hands and feet are totally different, his body is flattened dorsal-ventral like ours, rather than laterally, as with a chameleon. He does not have that long, sticky tongue(chameleons do not forked tongues), and even his color-change ability is different. Chameleons do NOT, contrary to popular misconception, change color/pattern to hide. They do that to advertize their presence to other chameleons, to show their mood, willingness to mate, warm of a predator, etc. They change color, and indeed, do pretty much everything but eat, in SLOOOOOWWW motion. Randall's movement is about as far from being like a chameleon's as it gets! Randall's eyes do not move independently of each other, either, nor do they face out to the side. Of all the lizards, Randall has more characteristics of geckos, agamids and varanids than he does of chameleons. His camouflage ability, though, is much closer to that of a cephalopod, like an octopus or cuttlefish, than of any vertebrate, but obviously he's not one of those. Randall is lizard-LIKE, but that's not the same thing as being a LIZARD. Sulley is bear-like, as well as ape-like, but no one refers to Sulley as a bear or an ape. Johnny has characteristics of both a bovine(his horns)and canine, but he's not a dog or a bull. No one refers to any of the other characters as animals, only Randall, yet he is a monster just like Sulley, Johnny, Mike, Dean Hardscrabble, and all the others. Why should he be singled out to be referred to by the name of a non-sapient animal? It's like people are saying that Randall is inferior, less of a person than the other monsters. Randall is no more a "lizard" than Sulley is a "bear" or Dean Hardscrabble is just a centipede. Biology DOES dictate how a living thing is classified, and using our definition of "reptile", Randall simply does not have the required characteristics to be designated as such, and he has many characteristics that are distinctly mammalian, actually. Scales are not unique to reptiles; birds have scales and some mammals have scales. Some of the furry monsters, like Sulley and Johnny, also have scales, though most people fail to realize that those "spikes" sticking up from their tails are actually "scutes", which are flattened scales, just like a crocodile's! What really determines if something is a reptile is metabolism and physical structure-skeleton, organs, circulatory system, etc.- and in both respects, Randall does not meet the requirements to be a reptile. If he's not a reptile, he's not a lizard, and in fact that means he's LESS of a lizard than Sulley would be bear or Johnny a dog, and so forth, because at least they are mammals, too, just like those animals. I have owned and bred many species of reptile for over 40 years now, and have studied their physiology and behavior closely. Reptiles are a passion of mine, so when I see Randall, I just do not see a "reptile" at all, but more importantly, it's a matter of equating Randall with an animal, but not doing that with most of the other MU/MI characters. pitbulllady

pitbulllady I am not arguing about what he is most closely related to, but for you to argue that he doesn't look chameleon-like at all is a bit ridiculous. The creators themselves said that he is chameleonic in appearance! That is what I'm getting at. Whether he bears any real physical resemblance to an actual chameleon is minor, because as a whole the average person will look at Randall and immediately associcate him with reptilian/chameleon type creatures.
Even though Sulley is never referred to as bear-like or anything like that, it just never comes up in the film in regards to his character. Furthermore, where is the evidence that being referred to as lizard is like an insult? There is another reference during Mike and Sulley's first scene, where we get reference to reptiles, and I wouldn't take that as a bad connotation.
I just don't get why referring to Randall as "lizard-like" needs to be such a BAD thing.

I just don't get why referring to Randall as "lizard-like" needs to be such a BAD thing. I think you missed something that I wrote previously. There's nothing wrong with referring to Randall as "lizard- LIKE" There is, though, a BIG difference between calling referring to him as "lizard- LIKE" and referring to him as a "LIZARD", and no, it's not just a matter of semantics, either. Randall does have some superficial, outward physical characteristics in common with lizards, just as some of the other monster characters have outward characteristics in common with other familiar animals, but just as they are not whatever animals they might happen to superficially resemble, Randall is also NOT a LIZARD. Many humans can be compared to other animals using the word "like". For example, a person with a long, narrow face might be described as "horse-LIKE", but to actually call the person a horse, say that they ARE a horse? That one four-letter word, "like", makes a world of difference. Randall would probably no more like being referred to as an animal, outside of a strictly biological meaning for that term, than any other monster would. It does denote that he is inferior to other monsters, less intelligent, less advanced, if you will, than they are. In MI, Mike refers to Randall as "Lizard Boy", and it's clearly meant as an insult, a derogatory term, just as Johnny is being derogatory towards Mike by calling HIM a "beach ball". It's supposed to "de-monsterize" the individual being called those terms. That would be like calling one person(a human person) as a "monkey", while not referring to all other humans as "monkeys"; it implies that the one human singled out for that label is somehow inferior, less advanced/civilized, what have you, than the others. It "de-humanizes" them, in other words, unless clearly meant in jest and fun and that intent is understood by both whoever is doing the labeling and the individual on the receiving end of the label. As for Randall "bearing any real physical resemblance to an actual chameleon", keep in mind what you said after that, that "the AVERAGE person will look at Randall and immediately associate him with reptilian/chameleon-type creatures", emphasis added to "average, because in my experience, the average person knows less about lizards and other reptiles than my cat knows about the geothermal dynamics of plate tectonics, and this situation is getting worse by the day, not better. That is why I am so quick to emphasize that whatever superficial resemblance Randall might have to some Human-World creature, he's NOT one of those animals, and if I succeed at nothing more than educating and enlightening people a bit about real reptiles, then I've still accomplished something, with the understanding that at least a few people will go to bed knowing more about those animals than they woke up that morning knowing. Most people, the "average" people, as you say, do not understand how an ectothermic metabolism works, for example. I have seen too many of those "average" people unintentionally kill pet lizards and snakes by taking them outside in winter, dressed in cute little outfits or wrapped up in a blanket, assuming that that layer of insulation will keep their pets warm. They don't comprehend that insulating layers of clothing work by holding in body heat that the animal is producing itself, and when there's NO body heat to hold in, that effect is totally lost and the animal quickly becomes dangerously chilled. When I see Randall standing in front of that door to the Himalayas, being blasted with snow and ice and no doubt, sub-zero temperatures, logically I understand something that those "average" people don't: there's no way that an ectothermic creature could have withstood that, not even for a few seconds, without displaying some immediate adverse effect! In MU, he's running around, quite energetically, in January. In the MID-WEST. While there's still ICE hanging from some of the tree branches. If he were an actual lizard, he'd have been immobilized by the cold, and would have quickly succumbed to it. The "average" person needs to expand on what they know, because I can't just shut off four+ decades of my own knowledge and experience to go with what the "average" person understands. pitbulllady

Randall. I'm not remotely attracted to any of the other characters.
Randall is sexier to me in MI though because like PBL said, he seems a bit too young in MU. I mean if he's 18 he's still old enough I guess....but he doesn't look like he's finished maturing physically yet so he's not as appealing as his older self.
I'd probably find Dean Hardscrabble attractive if I was into girls despite my fear of some kinds of centipedes(I don't hate centipedes and kill them....I'm just rather afraid of the house centipedes in my house but I don't kill them - I used to sometimes kill them but I stopped killing them).

In Japan and most of Asia, it's Randall, Johnny and Javier, and I really find it rather odd that Javier has turned out to be so popular since he doesn't even speak a single word! Randall is the only MI character I find attractive. None are repulsive, though Waternoose comes close, but that's not due to his looks. He reminds me way too much of a former boss of mine, corrupt and amoral, all too happy to use and step on those he considered inferior. MU just had a lot more characters which were attractive, but I wish I could get some inside information from Pixar animators as to whether this was intentional. I can be fairly certain that some were designed on purpose to be CUTE, like young Randall and little kid Mike, for instance, but what about Johnny and Frank and some of the others? When I see Johnny, there's so much of Nathan Fillion there that it's difficult for me to separate them, lol. They have the same facial expressions, same gestures, same attitude...I was a fan of Nathan Fillion before I even found out he was going to be in MU, but at times he can come across as a bit...I dunno, pompous? There's a touch of Narcissism there for sure, and I'm not saying that in a negative way. He's a pretty buff guy, too, big biceps and pecs, not to the extent that Johnny is, but he's definitely not a small, delicately-built guy! And that's the other question: did Pixar animate in these characters' facial expressions and gestures AFTER casting the VA's, to match the actors', OR did they animate the characters first and then bring in the actors to voice then? IF it's the latter, that is one helluva coincidence that many of the characters are so similar, while not even being HUMAN, to the actors who voiced them, at least in the English version.

Randall is really the only character I find attractive. Most of the other's are not really that interesting to look at, basically humanoid with variations in size, furriness and numbers of eyes and limbs. I have to say I don't see the attraction with Johnny, I don't really like the muscular, popular types. As to whether Pixar intended them to be attractive or not I think they intended them to be attractive to other monsters and so designed them to be attractive enough to the human audience to signal that that is the case. The characters probably do have some of the mannerisms as the actors, I've heard they do in most animations. I think they always record the voice actors before animating because they have to match the lip movements to the words, which is much easier if you can actually hear it rather than just reading it.

When Mike was a kid, he looked more like a little toy after he got out from that kid's room he snuck into.

I know 3D character models for adult Randall exist and are pretty easy to find on the internet but haven’t been able to find a character model for how he looks in MU. I’d love to see the creation of that!
