Okay...I know this has probably already been asked before (Heck if I know, I'm a total noob here! XD) but...... Even though I know people will probably look at me crazy...... Does anyone else think that Ran's pretty cute for an animated reptilian-like monster? XD I think he's adorbs, HOT sometimes even. XD NOTE: This has nothing to do with why I like Randall. But sometimes I just gotta admit..... So does anyone think I'm crazy now? XD Edit: Before anyone asks I got the title based on Pokemon! XD Oh, no, most of us don't think that's crazy, trust me! Randall has a LOT of fans who feel that way, myself included. TVTropes even noticed the trend and thought it was bizarre enough, though, to stick Randall with the "Draco In Leather Pants" trope because they completely misunderstand how his fans really feel about him. MU Randall is cute, beyond much doubt, but adult MI Randall, even stressed and angry as he is, is very sexy. pitbulllady

Also about the Draco in Leather Pants thing....Eh. The fact that there are characters like Weatley ( Portal 2), Sasuke and Itachi (Naruto), Mandark (Dexter's Lab), Prince Zuko (Avatar), and Jack Spicer (Xiaolin Showdown) make me question the seriousness of it. =T Ran's just amazing. I think that it's because he just feels so realistic to me . Seriously. He doesn't need any stinking "Tragic" backstory in order to be a good character! Just his body language alone tells us how he feels after he's joined ROR. He was simply a nice kid who fell into the wrong crowd and that's realistic as f***! He didn't have a lot of friends so why would he pass up the chance to be popular? I know I wouldn't. Who WOULD pass that up, seriously? I find it horribly hypocritical that so many people hate on Randall for accepting ROR's offer, and cut him down for "wanting to be popular", which is akin to attacking a starving person for "just wanting to eat". pitbulllady

I know! That's totally true. He's just so easy to relate to, I guess. ~SeaFoam

Yes... I totally agree. Randall is very cute! He's quite vulnerable as a character, and very sympathetic. I also think his physical characteristics make him adorable and huggable... more so than other Disney characters.
Shame that Randall never got to have one of those fraternity toga parties at ROR, while he was at Monsters University. I think he would look terrific dressed in a toga and laurel! It would make him look very peaceful, content, and serene, which is clearly what we ALL want for our lizard friend...

It would make him look very peaceful, content, and serene, which is clearly what we ALL want for our lizard friend... He would have looked soooo self-conscious, though, poor guy! We never do see him relaxed and content once he joins ROR. He's never made to feel easy with them, to feel appreciated, and it's like he's always struggling with guilt and fear and doubt. Compare his body language in scenes like when Mike is telling Johnny, "if YOU lose, no one will let you forget", with his body language in that scene where Mike and Randall are walking up the steps to the class on exam day, and Randall is once more calling out test questions to Mike to help MIKE. Look at Randall's face and arms, how happy he looks, how relaxed his posture is, in that scene. It is just so sad that Randall SO badly wanted Mike to like him as a friend, was so comfortable around Mike, and Mike only saw him as another tool towards achieving his life-long dream, nothing more, not even as a person. pitbulllady

That means that in 'Monsters 3', that loose thread is going to HAVE to be revisited. Their bond is going to have to be reforged, which will require Randall to admit how desperately he was seeking Mike's friendship, and Mike is going to have to admit at what a stuck-up show-off he's been. Neather can heal without the other, and the ends must meet for the story to be complete. (I know that sounds flowery and poetic, but it's the truth.)

I honestly don't know how realistic it would be for Mike to do that, unless he stood to gain something important. Even in the Circle 7 script, Mike wanted to get back to the Monster World, and realized that Randall's skills would be needed to help him do that. It wasn't about Randall then, but still about "what's in it for Mike?" Now, I'm sure that IF a sequel is actually made, Pixar is going to write in a scene in which Mike acknowledges he did wrong, and that he WAS too hung-up on following his dream to notice what could have been a wonderful friend, and I'd love to see that, but it's not really in keeping with Mike's personality. It would be a stretch for him to do that, even though it WOULD be necessary. pitbulllady

Well... it's like I said in another thread: Mike would have to have his ego squashed first in some overwhelming way - possibly before he even meets up with Randall again, but if not, maybe seeing how hurt and devastated Randall has become, and knowing that it's HIS fault, maybe that would get him to admit that he was wrong.
