The area code is 510, in California. Sullivan's pet is named "Archie", just like my childhood silky terrier. Dean Hardscrabble said that Mike's use of a roar would cause the boy to cry instead of scream, alerting his parents and exposing the monsters to the human world. But wouldn't screaming alert the parents too? Are the girls identical sextuplets? How does Randall see without his glasses? I would have liked to have seen a Ms. Flint cameo at some point...maybe she could be an upperclassman, or a scarer at MI (before she became a trainer). The manikans looked more primitive than they did in MI...appropriate for a prequel. Forgive me if these have been covered elsewhere, I wanted to post while my impressions were still fresh, but I haven't looked at the site so I would not read a spoiler.

Forgive me if these have been covered elsewhere, I wanted to post while my impressions were still fresh, but I haven't looked at the site so I would not read a spoiler. Great observations! As for the area code: 510 is the one of (among others) Berkeley... Not surprising as their campus heavily inspired MU's architecture. That screaming/crying thing also bothers me. I think that the goal is not just to make children scream, but also to make them terrified to the point where their perception of reality gets blurred by fear. In other words, cause confusion as to what is reality and what is a nightmare... Personally, I'd be alerted by the roar itself! According to some promotional materials, the girls aren't even related. Guess some eugenics are at work here How does Randall see without his glasses? I think he doesn't. Or at least he doesn't see well . Goes well with his actions in MI, in my opinion (mistaking Mike for Boo etc.) Ms. Flint does have a cameo (in the photo near the end), but she should've gotten a bigger role still. Dissappointment indeed On a total side-note: Don't you happen to be of Czech ancestry or have some other connection to the Czech rep./ former Czechoslovakia? I'm asking because of your username. You can PM me if you don't want to discuss it here. Sorry if you've answered this before - I'm kinda new to the forum.

I noticed Don's business card had a California phone number, too, but the setting doesn't give off that SoCal "vibe", especially with the weather. It looked pretty darn cold outside in that scene where everyone is signing up for the Scare Games and right before that, before it shows Mike sitting in the Scream Can Technology Design class, you can see that there's ice still on the trees. The terrain and that climate, plus most of the accents, suggest the Midwest. I've read that the animators based the campus design on UC Berkley and also on several of the Ivy League universities in New England. The Midwestern locale jives with Dan Scanlon being a native of Michigan. I chalk that number discrepancy up to the Monster World not having the exact corresponding area codes as we do, but with them almost being opposites, kinda like in the "Megamind Universe" Dreamworks created, which turned out to be very much located in Michigan, the tv call letters of the station that Roxanne Ritchi works for start with a "K", even though real Michigan stations' call letters begin with a "W".
It was actually Sulley to whom the Dean told that, btw, not Mike. She would not allow Mike to even demonstrate his "cackle holler", lol. I'm not sure, either, why a child's scream of terror would not alert parents more efficiently than the child crying, since they'd sure hear it a lot quicker! Plus, those roars would seem to be pretty damning in and of themselves, a dead giveaway that SOMETHING was in that room besides that child! Sulley even stomped and shook the floor in the Simulator room, so if he did that in someone's actual HOUSE, yeah, I believe the parents(not to mention the neighbors, the other siblings, the dog, etc..) are definitely going to be alerted! It seems to me that the most effective and least attention grabbing Scarers would be the ones like Randall or Squishy, who don't have to make a sound to scare some kid. Just their sudden, unexpected appearance is enough.
And Randall definitely has lousy eyesight, poor guy. I don't think he bothers with contacts, either, given that he did mistake MIKE for a human toddler, as CD pointed out, and he holds that newspaper just about touching his face when he's trying to read it, and he STILL has to squint. In MU, when we see him going over his notes in this notebook in class prior to the final exam, he's holding that notebook right up in his face and squinting, there, too.

Actually, they DID allude to his "banishment", or rather, the place to which he was "banished". What so many on Tumblr are mistaking for Louis Vuitton bedspread and luggage actually is purple with gold fleur-de-lis, which is a symbolic pattern for Louisiana, and for New Orleans especially. You can't walk 10 feet down there without spotting that pattern SOMEWHERE! pitbulllady

Yeah, it's HOT-literally-but you will really get to experience the city that locals experience day to day. Another great time to visit is during the Christmas season, probably the best time to visit Louisiana in general, because there are so many festivals going on all over the state, especially in the southern portion, and most center around FOOD, lol. Oh, and, "Going to the Mardi Gras" wasn't actually a Fats Domino song. He's just one of many recording artists to re-make it, but it was originally written and performed that iconic New Orleans pianist, the late Roland T. Byrd, aka, "Professor Longhair", or just "Fess". I actually had an old fan art piece with Randall encountering the ghosts of Fess and Louis Armstrong outside of Preservation Jazz Hall and wondering, "what just HAPPENED?" pitbulllady

Yes, he does. I think that ALL Scarers get Scare cards, and how well those trade and how much they are worth reflects the Scarer's popularity, and we don't see the cards long enough to read the "stats". I did note that Randall's had his real name, not "Randy", on it. And yeah, I think a lot of people kinda overlooked a LOT of the cards after Johnny's shirtless pic, lol. pitbulllady

Considering, if I recall, his scarer card had his geeky appearance (I have to recheck), it probably wasn't his official one...(obvious, since "Scarer Cards" in other media, like on DVD extras, are descriptive from an audience point of view)...yeah, he did get one. Considering he was Top Scarer for a while, his card was probably a collectible (though...it's sad in thought that when he lost his position it just "became another rare card nobody wanted").
Hmm...idea...

Hmm...idea... Yep, it was that pose we see in his ROR group pic, just without the jacket. It must have been made right after he became a Scarer, since he clearly was still quite young. pitbulllady
