Well, guys. Here's our first clue that Pixar might not be leaving us hanging when it comes to Randall's story... There's a Tumblr post that is essentially a review of the film from someone that went to a charity screening (or, rather, a friend of the person who wrote the review). Here's the link- and be warned, there are some minor spoilers in the review: thettc.tumblr.com/post/52142279042/my-good-friend-mike-kuentz-had-the-pleasure-ofThe most interesting thing I found was that it seems like there's going to be at least one more film in this 'franchise', and although nothing is directly said in terms of whether Randall is going to be involved, it does tie in with the way they've presented him in MU and the logical conclusion that they're not just going to leave his story as is. Of course they might well make a sequel or two that don't involve Randall at all, but considering MU that seems quite unlikely at this point... Squeee!

Knew it! Money rules the world... ;D But still, chances are high that Randall's gonna be in yet another movie. Steve Buscemi is, after all, the youngest of the "main" trio of actors...

I knew it! ;D
Of course Randall will be in it, they would not go through the trouble of making him such a likeable character and giving him a tragic past that shows he is not bad to the core, if they weren't gonna do more.

Oh, YEAH! It really does make sense that Randall WILL not only be in the next one, but will probably star in it, given the attention focused on him in MU and the effort that Pixar has put into his "make-over" as a loveable, very sympathetic character. The first movie was told more or less from Sulley's POV, thus he is the focus there, the second one(MU) is obviously told from Mike's POV, so that leaves Randall of the three who has yet to be the leading man...er, monster, but now more than ever I'm convinced his day is coming! I hope I'll get to see it, as I'm not getting younger nor is my health getting any better, but this at least gives me something to hang on for. Now, I found THIS yesterday on www.upcomingpixar.com , the tentative release dates for Pixar's films through 2017, officially published by Disney: June 21, 2013: Monsters University May 30, 2014: The Good Dinosaur June 19, 2015: Inside Out November 25, 2015: Finding Dory June 17, 2016: Unknown, likely Lee Unkrich’s Dia de los Muertos film June 16, 2017: Unknown November 22, 2017: Unknown June 15, 2018: Unknown
We know that Teddy Newton and Mark Andrews are both developing new projects, but that leaves at least two other unannounced movies – one of which is likely a sequel. This is exciting news, especially since we’ll be getting two Pixar movies in a single year for the first time in 2015 and 2017. Stay tuned for more information! Note that the last three, two in 2017 and one in 2018, are unknown, and it IS stated that ONE of these films will "likely be a SEQUEL", which means that probably we will see a third MI installment in either 2017 or 2018, possibly as early as 2016, though it seems likely that the "Day of the Dead" film will be released that year, but who knows? If there's enough favorable fan and critical reception of MU and it does well enough, it could be moved up. Hopefully we will also be seeing other aspects of this franchise, such as tv specials and animated short films, that will include our boy. This is probably the best news I've heard in a long, long time, and I really needed it at this point. pitbulllady

*brushes off lapel, sits back* Why don't people trust me when I said it would be a crime without the sequel...
And I've given that same thing way before PBL, about the POVs...
*folds arms* Randall's "make-over", more readily apparent in Disney Infinity than MU (as we've known all along what Randall rightly was in his younger years), does spark that they are aware of his popularity now.
Now, the trouble with a sequel is...balancing the fact that the story will be a tad more different than the previous ones. The stakes are higher in Randall's case. Personally, I know how the story would go for Sullivan and Wazowski...being CEO and going steady are good plot stories. Randall, however, is more difficult, considering his state during the film. --- Also, never really compared the ages. Steve IS the youngest? Huh funny...Randall's the youngest of "the trio" too...well...good thing.

But then again, we will probably hear about it within a year or so. I mean, we found out about MU a couple years before it came out after all. Just knowing that is coming will be good for me, hopefully it won't be too long before the rumors start pouring out. And you made a good point, Randy is going to get SO MUCH attention and new fans after seeing his role in MU that its almost gonna be too much. Pixar will have no choice.

Ah, sometimes time can go quickly. Seriously, I can't remember when this was first confirmed...it's like it was a flash and here we are, a few short weeks till it's released.
As said, if Pixar knows what they're doing, Sullivan and Wazowski's stories in the sequel are easy. So that gets them out of the way, leaving MUCH more time to work on the main guy's, Randall's.

You're right, it would be to easy and thats not Pixar's style. Not when there a character as complex as Randall and even more so after his role in MU. I can honestly not see Pixar ignoring this. Its just a matter of confirmation, once that rumor leaks that they are working on a new Monsters film, I will be happy, which like I said may not be too long. Of course it would be a long while before we got any real info, but just knowing that its coming will be great.

Hm? What I mean by Sullivan and Wazowski's stories being easy is that it's quite obvious what Sullivan will be facing, and Wazowski's is a good ole fashion disruption of a relationship. I've been working on sequel material and I think I know the right direction for both of them.
Randall, on the other hand, is more difficult. We're dealing with somebody who's next-to-lethally injuried, probably surviving on the pure want to destroy Sullivan and Wazowski...he's NOT going to be all forgiving...he's going to be downright scary and frightening at first.

Oh, I see what you meant. Oh yeah that would actually be the more preferred and realistic approach. I would want Randall to come back and out for blood. My hope is that this is where Boo comes into play, it would be awesome if she were to be the one to bring Randalls old self back and he ends up caring about her and wants to protect her, thus teaming up with his old rivals.

*nods* Yes. Not to spoil the material I'm working on...but the stories of the three intermingle with each other, because they're all separated. Sullivan because of his CEO position, Wazowski because of his relationship with Celia, and Randall because...well that's obvious. Part of the process is having those stories combine into each other where, FINALLY, they all get what they need, or at least start on that path.
Yes, Boo would be in the sequel too, at least from what I'm working with. I've got a really moving scene in mind for that as well. Randall, unfortunately in this situation, would not have had the benefit of some kind souls to help him out. He's been on his own, surviving. He's got no family, no friends, no job, no future in his mind. Everything taken away from him. All that's left is revenge on Wazowski and Sullivan. Of course...his desire may change once he realizes what actually happened to the two. That they were, in fact, sort of...REWARDED, while he is slated as a criminal.
There will be a new character (I've nearly confirmed one in my workings) or two, as well, that would influence Randall when he does come back.

Hopefully so. *taps lip* You know the hardest thing about making, or attempting, the "perfect sequel" is that...Pixar could be sued USING that perfect idea, so they don't use it heh heh, following the not using of ideas outside office. Though...our support of Randall seems to have paid off.
Still, I'm working on it. Once MU is released and research done, I'll try to put it in full swing. Do have an interesting bit...a little darker...that I've made...concerning a meeting of a certain group determining the fate of certain characters. Actually, it twistingly explains how Sullivan and Wazowski managed to escape imprisonment.
